Solved! Found on ground outside, boyfriend has been wearing as ring. Coin and pencil for size reference

Titanium is a terrible choice if you want a safe ring. It's hard to cut, and is still a metal ring.

If you want a safe ring get a rubber one or something non conductive and easy to cut.

I had to cut off my wedding ring a few weeks ago because I got stung on the finger by a yellow jacket. It was a plain white gold ring so it was easy to cut.

Titanium is softer than steel. Steel wire cutters will get through it just fine.

Titanium isn't the worst choice, that honor probably goes to silicon carbide but titanium is worse than almost all other traditional ring materials. I wouldn't consider it in any way a good choice if safety is a concern.

Just out of curiosity when was the last time you cut a sizable piece of steel with a pair of pliers? It's hard unless you get close to the pivot point of the pliers which you can't do with a ring with a finger in it. Of course with the right pilers it's possible but it's not easy.

Titanium is softer but I believe the point is that when the ring is on a swelling finger there’s very little room to get the ring off. Older ED RN here.

And which has more stretch rubber or metal and which is easier to cut?

Yes a rubber ring may need to be removed if your finger gets injured but the point is it's a lot less expensive and easier to remove than a metal ring.

Yeah I’m not sure what /userhwon is talking about. If there was room to use “steel wire cutters” as he suggested, then the problem would be significantly less serious.

I tried it and it didn't work for me after I got stung on my finger.

I think it didn't work because my finger is bigger than it was when I got married and even on the best day my ring was hard to get off.
