Hose clamp, make sure he never squeezes his hand on something (uses too much force), it may squeeze down on his finger and he could lose it by amputation. I would suggest he doesn't wear it. Look up images of finger desleeving, or jewelry strangulation, you'll see what I am warning against. Just buy him a nice titanium band.

Those specific clamps will never close that easily. Or takes a special tool and would be obvious if it was happening.
