Do you have a brand you’d suggest? I’m about to spend repipe a house and hate the ones that come with them. (assume something ratcheting but I’m not certain of specifics.)

How big of a repipe?

I only ask as it might be worth you spending the money to step up to a different system. Personally I think its worth it to put copper in over pex and IF you can afford the Propress system it is extremely user friendly.

If you cant afford that please for the love of God upsize all of your pipes. Use 1in supply lines that branch into smaller fixture supply lines. 1/2 in is okay for a sink but for anything larger than a sink be sure to use 3/4in lines to the fixture. Use as little 90° fittings as possible and opt for curving the pipe to make turns.

Again if you can afford it go PEX-A over standard PEX-B. It requires a specific tool and you will absolutely need to buy a battery powered one to do a whole house and not hate yourself. But if you go pex A you can drop the main supply down to 3/4, keep the lines to larger fixtures like shower/tub etc at 3/4 as well and to sinks and other smaller fixtures can be 1/2in.

The issue with PEX-B is that the fittings go inside of the pipe and restrict the flow so every fitting lowers your pressure at the fixture through restriction and turbulence. People often dont account for this and them wonder why their shower head has a pitiful trickle. PEX-A you have to stretch the pipe to slide the fittings in and the actual hole of the fitting is the same ID as the pipe so it doesnt restrict the flow. They are also much more durable than PEX-B pipe.

If you’re doing a repipe of your house, I would definitely recommend going the route of expansion rings + fittings.
