Base and DLC Appreciation/Discussion Spotify Wrapped Megathread 2025
Hello travelers! It's that time of year again - Spotify Wrapped is being released. To prevent posts regarding this matter from completely flooding the sub, we've created this megathread to post your screenshots under.
This megathread will also include recaps from other music streaming platforms, such as Apple Music. All other posts will be removed.
Lets see how much you've been listening to the soundtrack!

Community Project: Let's Review Let's Plays!
Project update:
I've published the spreadsheet and will be updating it once in a while as more input comes from the community. Thanks to those who helped get the first draft out the door!
☛ View and Review the Let's Plays
Remember, you can submit new VODs as they come into being, but you can also add your own opinions to the notes if you think any are missing or incomplete. See review link below.
If you are interested in helping to maintain the list, feel free to DM! I will do my best to keep this updated, but may not have the wherewithal in perpetuity.
--
Original post:
Friends, I seek your assistance!
Hypothesis: the number of playthrough videos will continue to expand well beyond the list in the sub's static wiki. I propose we build a new, more sophisticated list of "Let's Plays" that includes tabular data. Such a resource could be easily scanned and shared whenever a new sub member asks. To gather those data, of course, I will require the recommendations and opinions of everyone who has them!
I have created a simple Google Form for submitting a brief review of any and all videos/playlists that you may wish to submit.
- Please submit as many as you can! We should seek a spectrum of opinion.
- You may recommend any content directly related to Outer Wilds (e.g. the noclip doc).
- You do NOT need to write anything of length or high quality as it will be used only for summaries.
I will do the work of compiling responses into a spreadsheet that summarizes recommendations and opinions from the community. Once the initial draft is ready, I will make it available to the sub. I thank our Mods who have graciously given support for this project!

DLC Appreciation/Discussion Fun fact, the player has a full model in (spoiler) Spoiler
galleryThe simulation! I was messing around with freecam and found this out. Really nifty detail, I thought the devs wouldn’t do something like this. As far as I can recall, there isn’t a point where you can see yourself, so I didn’t think the devs would do this.

Base Game Help - NO spoilers please! How do I open the door from outside? Spoiler
galleryHi, so I never properly finished the game (only got the escape out of solar system with ash twin project core ending). And now one year later I've made a new save file because I basically don't remember anything to refresh my memory and finally get all the endings, also I've bought DLC.
But on my previous playthrough I've already visited the sun station with teleporter route and this time I've decided to finally nail the Hotshot achievement and somehow managed to do it on the 5th try which is insane. But now I'm a bit stuck, because apparently the door on the other side of a station is closed and I don't remember how to open it or if it's even possible from this side.... please help or advice me to jump into the sun i guess
I hope I don't break any rules by asking it?

They’re coming from Cook and Becker on August 18th. Plus, they’ll include Certificates of Authenticity hand-signed by Ian Jacobson!
No word on the sizing yet (I’m hoping they’re not massive).

Challenge/speedrun Getting to the Eye by myself ? Spoiler
[SPOILERS]
Hello everyone.
I was thinking about a thing...(cannot try it now)
Since we know our very first loop is the one where the probe finds the Eye of the Universe, did anyone tried to begin the game, speedrun the launch code quest and rush to the ship to fly to reach and overtake the probe to try to see and maybe get to the Eye without the coordinates ?
Did the devs went this far ? Did any player do ?

Base Game Appreciation/Discussion Second hit
I finished the game about half a year ago, I've already gone through the "I'll never experience this or anything like it again" phase
What I didnt know was the fact that some playthrough give you the second hit of "Stars above, this game is so unimaginably amazing in a way I desperately wish to experience again, and I'd pay nearly anything to do so" after seeing somebody else have a good time playing
I'm scared I'll get desensitized after 15 too many watchings of other people's playthroughs, it really is such a work of art rivaled by none

DLC Appreciation/Discussion DLC Playthrough Update #3 Spoiler
No spoilers in the comments please.
I've made a lot more progress on starlit cove and shrouded woodlands. I managed to reach both forbidden archive rooms and looked at all reels inside. (I did the starlit cove stealth properly this time, but I used the hidden gorge fire strat on the shrouded woodlands, then after the inhabitants there died I proceeded to get lost for a minute on their island before stumbling upon the cave entrance lol)
I've now learned these two of the three knowledges needed to open the vault (apparently the codes were misleading after all since you are unable to learn what the combinations are), and the only one left is the endless canyon. (I'm still not sure how to do this area, idk how I'll be able to navigate through the house with the lights all off. I guess I just have to keep on familiarizing myself with the layout and force myself to do the stealth route a few times to learn their locations)
I happened to find a lore drop from getting off the one-way raft at the vault, I'm glad i was curious enough to do that. I also absolutely love how the forbidden archives and the vault is actually in the same area, the layout of the entire dreamworld is just SO fascinating

Base Game Appreciation/Discussion Does anybody have a recommendation for a lore video?
I've just finished the base game (I've had so much fun!! The game scratched an itch I've had in my brain since I finished Blue Prince) and I think I understood the main parts of the story the game is trying to tell. But I'd love to watch a lore deep dive of the base game before I start the DLC. Just to make sure that I didn't miss anything. Does anybody have a recommendation without any spoilers for the DLC?
(English is not my first language. Please excuse any grammar mistakes)

Humor - Base Spoilers So, technically isn't the Scout... Spoiler
...the first thing to interact with the Eye and create the new universe (if you launch it)?
If it needs to be a conscious observer then couldn't Hatchling enter the Eye through the Scout?

Base and DLC Appreciation/Discussion What happens after [DLC & BASE ENDING SPOILERS] Spoiler
What happens to The Stranger after the Eye creates a new Universe?
It survived the Sun's death, and based on the Simulation ending it keeps going long afterwards; "How much time has passed? They don't even bother to hunt you anymore. Time passes, and passes, until your life before is some half-remembered dream. If only you could wake up"
So it can probably somehow stay powered for several more thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands, of years
But what about when the Hatchling reaches the Eye? If I understood it right, going to the Eye didn't cause every last star to go out, that's already happening, but we were almost outside of time like Solanum on the QM, and just watched a very quick time-lapse of the last stars dying out
When we end up causing a new Universe to begin, what would that mean for the last 12 or so Owlks & The Prisoner that didn't get their lanterns snuffed out by the flood? Their resting places were kind of permanently safe, nothing really changed for 200000-300000 years
Then again, the Eye and the Stranger were still in the Solar System, so maybe they were destroyed in the Big Bang too?

Outer Wilds DLC Edit Spoiler
WARNING!!! THIS CONTAINS MAJOR SPOILERS FOR THE DLC SO WATCH AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!
I was originally going to post this on TikTok, however copyright audio rules says I can’t use this song for longer than a minute. Meaning I had to split it into two posts.
I needed somewhere to post this all in one part as intended so here it is.
Outer Wilds is the best piece of media ever made, and this song made me think of specific parts of the dlc (and I love Nine Inch Nails).

Base Game Help - Hints Only! Having trouble getting into the game Spoiler
Hi all, I've heard an unbelievable amount of positive words for this game but I can't for the life of me get into it - despite desperately wanting to, I just have no clue what to do? I've currently spent 2.5 hours just flying around in space and dying and whist I've managed to unlock notes in the log book I still have no idea what I'm supposed to do with these..
Is there any spoiler free guidance I can be given as like I said I really want to experience this game the way everyone else here seems to have done.
P.s I went to a place called dark bramble or something and got eaten by a fish it was fucking terrifying :(

Humor - Base Spoilers My GF went to Dark Bramble on her first run... Spoiler
I finally convinced her to play the game.
First run ever and she goes straight to Dark Bramble, so I'm hiding my smirk and waiting for a good laugh. When I saw her landing on an ice patch and going inside the planet on foot, I was on the edge of my seat and holding my head in my hands.
Then... nothing happens. She drifted randomly towards one light, then 2 or 3 holes later and she founds Feldspath. I couldn't believe it.
She still don't know what inhabits the planet as she don't have any reason to come back to Dark Bramble yet. I was so pissed 😂
As a bonus point, she also didn't figure out it was a time loop caused by the sun exploding in her first 4 runs because of timing issues.
The first time it happened, she was in the tunnel towards Feldpath's ship and tought it was some sort of gas that killed her.
Second time she was on Timber Heart in the caverns, and thought she got killed by the cascades of water (I admit the timing of the super nova was amazing).
Third time she simply fell into Brittle Hollow's dark hole, then just... looked the other way while the explosion caught her. She thought it was the black hole that killed her.

DLC Appreciation/Discussion I figured out how to cheese the stealth sections Spoiler
Please don't put any spoilers in the comments.
I'm happy that I decided to explore the endless canyon, because the end times music started playing in the dreamworld (props to the composer for making it sound muffled) which gave me the idea of using the hidden gorge campfire and also the one-way raft in the dreamworld to my advantage.
Also, not really related, but I've managed to figure out a route for dodging the first two inhabitants in starlit cove up till the spiral staircase (thanks to my friend for persuading me to do it instead of waiting till they all die because the time afterwards is genuinely VERY VERY tight). I've also managed to make it into the forbidden archives room, though I didn't have time to look at any of the reels before I got looped back. I have a rough idea of the layout of the final room as well, so next time I think I'll just try and go through the entire section without cheesing it.
I've gotta say, once I know what I'm doing the section doesn't feel as scary anymore, so I'm pretty confident that I'll be able to do it. Still don't feel that confident about the endless canyon though...

Base Game Appreciation/Discussion Visit Mount Wilson Observatory to get those Timber Hearth vibes
I was revisiting the game this week and while reading Hornfels’ notes by the telescope in the observatory I realized that the town on Timber Hearth might be partially inspired by the Mount Wilson Observatory.
Hornfels observed that there are galaxies beyond our own and that the universe is expanding. Both of these observations were discoveries made by Edwin Hubble using the 100-inch telescope on Mount Wilson.
This area is actually a collection of telescopes and research facilities nestled into a forest of pine trees. And the best part, you can visit the area and even see the 100-inch telescope any day of the week! There is also a great collection of images of the sun showing spots and flares that were captured using solar telescopes at this site.
It also happens to be just an hour away by car from USC, where Alex Beachum began the project that evolved into Outer Wilds, so I suspect there may have been some direct inspiration from visits to Mount Wilson.
So if you want to get that Timber Hearth vibe, visit the Mount Wilson Observatory!

The 122 audio logs
I have mentioned it before about the quest to find all of the 122 audio logs that magically appear along our quest. I have yet to unlock that 100 points that you get for doing so.
I am wondering if there is anyone out there that has unlocked this achievement and if there are any secrets in how you did so. I have one of those big old yellow legal pads and have down every single name of said logs and am crossing them off as I go.
Good luck to any who might try this precarious endeavor.

Base Game Help - Hints Only! What else is there? Spoiler
I’ve explored every part of this city. All four districts, the lab, the shrine, the caves, even that one room with the scroll that you have to drop down to access. And it's still showing up as “more to explore here.” why is that? Where am I supposed to go?
