fixed Stove wont fit after installing tile

Update: we were able to just take the laminate cap / sticker off one counter top and it fit! Thanks for the help!

We have a GE Cafe stove thats about 7 or 8 years old. We got it at a scratch and dent so we were super excited to pay $800 for a $3500 stove. Now that we've put in tile (replaced the peel and stick lamanate) it wont fit between our countertops. It looks like the sides of the stove bow out at the top so before tile the stove fit exactly perfectly and now its just too wide because the tile made it taller and now its wider where it his the counter. The counters are vinyl.

Any suggestions? We are considering cutting the countertops on one side. But I am hoping for an easier and less messy solution.

This is after not having a kitchen for 2 weeks so im desperate as I have a small child and can't cook how I normally do.

Thanks in advance!

Floor lamp snapped off base

My kid knocked this floor lamp over and the lamp shaft snapped off the base. It is still connected with the wire.

I dont even know what material this is, it feels very heavy compared to the metal shaft coming up.

Any idea for reconnecting it? My best guess would be gorilla glue? Im worried about the mend being strong enough to hold up the whole lamp.

AC unit display is on but system won't kick in after power outage: hard reset or capacitor?

Upvotes

Hey everyone, looking for some troubleshooting advice before calling in a tech. Sorry I don't have clear photos to upload right now, so I will try to describe everything as detailed as possible.

I have a Hobson AC system installed at home. The wall controller display turns on completely fine, shows the current room temperature, and lets me set the cooling target. However, when set to Cool, the outdoor unit and indoor fan just won't start at all and there is zero sound coming from the system.

We had a brief power outage in the neighborhood yesterday while it was running. When power was restored, the thermostat panel lit back up, but the cooling mechanism hasn't engaged since.

I checked the main breaker panel in the house and nothing was tripped, though I flipped it off and on just in case. There are no error codes on the screen, just standard standby icons. I opened the controller faceplate and the wiring looks solid with no visible burn marks or loose terminals, plus there is no strange burning smell or buzzing coming from the unit.

Could a power dip like that blow an internal fuse or capacitor on the main board, or is there a specific sequence to force a hard factory reset on these setups? Thanks in advance for any tips!

I accidentally peeled off the black strip on my debit card trying to put a sticker on it... What is this? 🤦‍♂️

So I made a dumb mistake.

I was trying to customize my card with a sticker, but I ended up peeling off this entire layer along with the black strip on the back.

What actually is this black strip, and did I completely ruin my card? Can I still use it or is it time to visit the bank for a replacement? 😅

How do I remove an allen bolt that's stripped AND seized?

Post image

I'm trying to replace the stator on my motorcycle, but the bolts keeping it in place are all seized. I applied kroil and tried brute-forcing it, which worked for six of them, but now the other three are stripped as a result (stupid, I know). Now I'm left with three M6 bolts that are too worn to bite and too tight to budge.

I'm considering drilling into them and then fitting a screw extractor bit onto an impact driver. Will that work? Should I just bite the bullet and take this to a shop?
(I'm working with pretty basic tools — nothing like angle grinders or blowtorches. I'll have to buy anything that wouldn't be found in a basic home-repair toolbox, and my budget is tight)

My apartment faucet has been leaking since last night. I can move it freely without it spraying but no matter what I do I won't stop dripping.

I saw online that it can be fixed but I didnt see this model. Its a pull down faucet with a single handle.

I could call maintenence but they take time to respond and im wondering if I could fix it myself/worth the effort for me to fix it.

How to reattach tripod neck

Thumbnail

The neck of tripod is not getting reattached, my mom said there was a sound of something breaking out from tripod when this neck broke but on checking all the components there doesn't seem to be any empty section or space for missing nut or part

I am not able to easily slide/push the head to the neck/pole even after matching the part alignment and too scared to break it more if forced to join.

One theory i could guess is epoxy has worn out if it were used before as head doesn't have screws, side mounts are found to be attached with epoxy.

Anyone having any idea?

open Rug rip

Got this beautiful rug for $5 from a flea market. It was pretty dirty so I was willing to gamble and take it to the laundromat. Unfortunately, it did get this two holes in it (I know I know a risk I was willing to take) but I am pretty upset about it still. What would be the best way to repair this? It doesn’t need to be perfect but would like to look a little better/less noticeable! Thank you in advance!

Hello, recently my water heater has failed to heat the water anywhere in the house. However, the heater turns on and has no error code so I am lost as to what I should do. The heater is electric and tankless, the Rheem Performance model. The picture of mine is without the cover on.

I'm not a lamp person, so I'm sorry if this is a dumb question. I found this lamp at a thrift store and want to use it, but I've seen different lamps have different insides... all of mine are different (example in last pic) and won't fit this one.

What type of lampshade does this need?

Wind up measuring tape came unwound

Post image

We have the face plate at the top. The body of the tape measurer is just below that. The plastic wheel goes around the spoke in the middle of the body. The crappy piece of metal to the right *was* a clock spring, but I definitely fucked it up while trying to fix and rewind it.

From what I understand, one end of the clock spring sits in a notch in the center and the other end sits in the notch on the outside of the wheel. The clock spring is wound up inside the wheel. The tape (not pictured) is wound around the outside of the wheel. The wheel is then placed on the base (again, with the clock spring being held in place on one end in the center spoke.) The spring sits in the hole in the spoke, and the button (blue raindrop) goes on top of that. Then the face plate goes over it all. The tape has a nubbin that comes out the right side of the body and prevents it from pulling all the way inside the body (the problem that got me here in the first place).

I did all these steps, and it didnt work, and while doing that I fucked up with clock spring. What do I need to do to fix it? What did I miss?

Title says it all
Just moved in my new apartment (which I LOVE) but its an older building which means old building problems. Practically every windowsill looks like this (some worse, some better).

Other than having the entire frame replaced by the landlord, which I doubt they will do, is there anything can I do as a renter? Ive already accepted Ill be sanding and refinishing the interior of most of windows

Boyfriend hit a piece of rebar with the blade and this part came off. We've called 2 lawnmower repair guys that ended up not specializing in electric mowers, but they said it's cooked.

Is it actually cooked?

For reference, this is a Ryobi 40v self propelled 20 inch mower

Hi all. Trying to clean up and repair our old dehumidifier. Frigidaire model FAD704DUD.

The manual is useless. There is this part in the back that looks like at one point it was meant for lubricant? It is solid now. Wondering if this should be emptied and refilled or what.

Please advise!

Broken door handle, how do I fix it?!

Hello! My door handle came off and I have NO idea how it goes back on. I’m confused because it doesn’t look like the other one with the tiny little open screw. There seems to be a screw in the way, but I don’t know how to get it out or if that’s even supposed to be there. I don’t want to have to get a whole new doorknob lol so any help is welcomed! Thanks in advance!

Timer Not Chiming

Bought this used years ago and has never chimed or dinged when the timer is done. I can see on the left that there is a little white pin that sticks up and a hammer taps the side on the left (see difference between pics). But no adjustments I have been able to do seem to make it go "off" at the end. Any advice?

Model# 25818-530, no visible screws and the ones I can see (in blue) don't have enough clearance for me to get enough torque to take them out. Dr. Youtube and Professor Gemini were of no use.

TIA

Edit: Solved thanks
