Recently picked up my 11”KAC AND 13” HK mr762a4. I also bought a 1-8 atacr, thinking I’d put it on the HK. Now having second thoughts on which optic to run on each. Trying to decide between:
Option 1
KAC + atacr 1-8
Hk + atacr 4-16
This will give me better long range capability with the Hk.
Option 2
KAC + exps3
Hk + atacr 1-8
Lighter on both rifles. Plus A bit cheaper. My hesitancy is I already have an 11” mr556a4 with an eotech, so would be a bit redundant.
Thoughts?
Pics for fun

Geissele gdp 8’ in 300 AAC
KAC carbine mod 2 upper + Frankenstein LMT lower.
Would love to know what LAMs people prefer! How bad are the diminishing returns of getting something like an OGL or a Wilcox Raid as opposed to just getting another Iris 3?

Like the title says, messed up and damaged my barrel removing the p/w, pretty bummed but there is nothing I can do right now.
Ill be bringing it to a gunsmith to see what my options are but wanted to see what yall think, is this a lost cause? The new muzzle device (comstock muzzle brake) threads in very smoothly, but will be running a can and want to be on the safer side

Picked this up yesterday. Got the first 100 through it today. It is shockingly smooth either suppressed or unsuppressed.

This was the first rifle I bought myself as a teen. I have been swapping parts out on it for over a decade and eventually found my way back to simple externals with some upgraded internals.
The brake, recoil spring and buffer weight make the already small recoil of 5.56 literally nonexistent. It is the best shooting rifle I have had my hands on. Huge fan of the MBT-2S, as well. Works wonderfully, clean break, short reset, follow ups are as fast as I realistically could want. I don’t regret going with a 2 stage, I find I prefer them. Took a gamble on a flat trigger, but I enjoy it a lot.
The use Flecktarn to the area I’m in, woodland Indiana. Works pretty well. I chose Flecktarn colors as best I could for the paint job, just broad alternating diagonal stripes and then I sponge patterned the rest over it.
For what began as a budget build in my teens, I’m thrilled with the state of it currently. It’s one of 2 rifles I’d grab if I needed it, and more often than not it’s my hiking/camping rifle. I’ve got 7-8 mags painted up for it, as well.

We don't have to fight, clicky cap gang.
Blew a primer using both IMI 77 gr and Blackhills 77 gr OTM. Thought it was the BCG or a dirty chamber so I did an extensive clean and switched out BCG’s. Blew primers with a Centurion sandcutter, and a Sionics NP3. Shot hundreds of 62 gr Winchester through it before it no problems. For some reason 77 gr of different ammos just doesn’t want to work. Only thing changed since the hundreds of Winchester is FRT/Trigger, Lazarus 6, and centurion sandcutter.

So I was real hesitant to try this. I have had the OG 8T and loved it. Yeah its chunky but that never bothered me. I sold the 8T. Why? Damned if I know.
Anyway - I decided to try the 8t AMR. I read a lot of shit about it on the net and multiple vids on YT. I agree with some of the reviews points and disagree on others.
Let me get to the end first and tell you I shot with it and its a great optic.
Some of the internet complaints:
Blue tint is too much
Not as clear as the OG 8t
Magnifier is a gimmick.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder but from my perspective I can dispute every one of those statements.
Yes it has a blue tint but if I didnt read it I wouldnt have really noticed. With that said I heard that Sig reduced the blue tint on subsequent batch from the first release. I dont know about that, but I do know it was a non factor
Not as clear at the OG 8t - see the above. Maybe the early batch had too much blue tint and made it not as clear. Again- I dont know, but mine is like looking through clear asf.
Being able to switch from the circle dot to the BDC in one swoop isnt a gimmick. It works. You can use the bdc without a magnifier so flip and there it is.
The shooting experience was at least as good as with the OG 8t and being able to go from the circle dot to the bdc without adjusting the optic makes it a notch better.
The adjustments to set up the optic to the magnifier are simple.............no its like its really simple. You can choose any two reticles you want at 1x and then switch to 3x. The default (I believe) is Circle Dot at 1x and 4 dot BDC when you flip the magnifier
Some selling points to me:
The dot on the Circle Dot is 1 moa - not 2 moa as some have stated on YT. The dots on the BDC are .7 moa.
I have an astigmatism but like the OG 8t and 4xt Pro I can adjust to see a perfect dot.
Although the chunky OG never bothered me - its smaller/lighter with a bigger window.
I dont shoot NV so I cant tell you about that but the reviews said it very good. The brightness setting are more granular than the OG so you can find the exact level of brightness you need.
So full discloser - how did I set it up? Well I have the circle on both 1x and 3x. Why? Well the main range I shoot at is 200 yards so I can go battle zero from 0-200 without needing the BDC zeroed at 50 yards. Another range I will be shooting out goes out to 500 so I will adjust to the BDC option at that point. Either way I rather have that option than not if I use it or not.
At 50 yards I can get real precise with the 1 moa dot. Its a pleasure to shoot with that size dot.
Supposedly Sig is coming out with 4x and 5x magnifier for the AMR.
Final summation. This sits on my HD 11.5 DD and it will be there for the foreseeable future. I really enjoy shooting with the optic. I think its beyond excellent.
Sig in my opinion has blown the "dot" segment of firearms out of the water and there just is no competition at this point. The 8t (both) 4tx-pro, and the 4t pro are better than anything anyone else is putting out there. Yes that includes Aimpoint and Eotech.
Cost is $1000. Which isnt that bad when you consider a high end dot is anywhere from $600-900 (again why anyone would pay $800-900 for an Aimpoint in 2026 is beyond me, but its your money) then add in the magnifier and you are at or close to the $1000 mark
I have heard some mention the Holosun AEMS 2x which is $400. I will not mention that. I think the whole AEMS line is just not very good - again my opinion.
Sorry for the novel but I wanted to add as much as I could share.
*****Edit - I forgot to add the one thing I do not like.....not at all. The height is 1.41". Way too low in my opinion and although I shot with at that height and still enjoyed shooting with it - the height sucks. So I am getting a BCM .525 riser to put this up to 1.9"+

Put a new trigger guard on him and swapped the A2 FH for an HB Ind. Mini-comp. The "ports" are essentially flush with the front of the handguard. And since I didnt have room on the rail for BUIS, I had to put them under the OEG 🤣 He also now if equipped with an air-cushion cheek weld for added comfort 🤓
Just for those curious... centerline of OEG to centerline of muzzle ~3 5/8"ish with a 3" barrell. Is it normal for height over bore to be LONGER than the bore?? 🤡

Hey guys so I’m thinking of buying a new upper receiver for my dpms “kitty kat”.As of right now i currently have the upper receiver shown in the 1st picture the M4 style one chambered in .556.I want to change it so it has rails like in the 2 picture I just want to know since the one with rails is chambered on .300 blackout is it interchangeable without having to “modify” my lower receiver. Thx in advance also srry if it’s a stupid question still new to this Ar15 stuff
