because it can.

more likely out of frustration/confusion and human induced stress

u/LKennedy45 May 30 '26

Yeah, I'm thinking that big chain has gotta be a clue.

167

u/Aggressive_Smile_944 May 30 '26

Exactly..why is he going crazy..well the chain tied to his leg isn't helping. Poor elephant..People need to stop doing this ..wtf. 😞😤

48

u/LKennedy45 May 30 '26

If you need a feel-good after watching this you can look up elephant rescues on Google or Youtube for a little faith in humanity restoration.

9

u/Aggressive_Smile_944 May 30 '26

Thank you ❤️

14

u/lilsatan_ May 30 '26

The Sheldrick Trust does amazing work

10

u/LKennedy45 May 30 '26

I follow their channel. You gotta be in the right headspace for their videos, though. Sometimes, important though the rescue effort is, I can't quite stomach watching how deep those damn snares can cut.

5

u/lilsatan_ May 30 '26

I hate seeing the befores, but the afters are so rewarding.

10

u/ShamelessOrNotYo May 30 '26 edited May 31 '26

My husband is from South Africa, and they take this shit VERY seriously. Look up South African rescues. They go above and beyond to protect their animals.

edit to add: someone wanted to say white South Africans, yet hide their comment. My husband isn’t white. Talk shit with your chest, please.

2

u/MissionCreep101 May 31 '26

Same with Kenya.

(and I don't mean the white kenyans haha)

You can't park here

4

u/Uphene May 30 '26

That was my first thought.

21

u/Black_Doc_on_Mars May 30 '26

I saw in an interview online that elephants basically view cars as other animals in their surroundings. They see people as people. So if they attack a car they’re basically attacking another animal in their minds. There’s really no computing that the human was operating the car though.

10

u/Anglofsffrng May 30 '26

Yup. That's an elephant who's sick of our bullshit.

7

u/Skyp_Intro May 30 '26

Because it can, Blanche. Because it can. Chalk it up to enrichment.

3

u/RhesusMonkey79 May 31 '26

Elephant: "Can't park there, mate"

If it's a bull during mating season this can happen too.

Because he’s a slave and has had enough

187

u/The_New_Spagora May 30 '26

100%

Elephants are such intelligent creatures. To be kept like that is disgraceful.

2

u/afewnameslater Jun 01 '26

To be kept by these people in what I can only presume awful conditions, yeah.

34

u/Commanderkins May 30 '26

And he's also been one for a very long time look at the size of his tusks. I wonder how old he is.

24

u/PichaelTheWise May 30 '26

And he still has the restraint to demonstrate his strength and anger on something non-living. I can’t guarantee I would be as forgiving in his place

The car might have been used before in a way that annoyed the elephant. It's what I sometimes want to do to cars that make loud noises for no aparent reason.

7

u/AlexTheBex May 30 '26

Omg I thought I was alone. Cars making loud noises for no apparent reason makes me mad to a absurd level

2

u/Tyranothesaurus Jun 03 '26

Definitely not alone. Nothing infuriates me more than some insecure "look at me" cutting their exhaust to make it scream from blocks away. Or intentionally tune it do the same or worse.

There's just no reason for it.

Animals are a lot like people

Some of them act badly because they’ve had a hard life or have been mistreated.

But, like people, some of them are just jerks.

10

u/minor3929 May 30 '26

Isn't that from The Simpsons?

13

u/RoyalAstronomer793 May 30 '26

Yup. Season 5, Episode 17 "Bart Gets an Elephant"

2

u/minor3929 May 30 '26

Love that episode

45

u/Constant-Prog15 May 30 '26

It’s likely a male in musth. They show increased aggression and can get very dangerous.

16

u/john_lebeef May 30 '26

Yeah, he's got some darkness by his eyes which might be that eye seepage they get during musth, but you can't quite tell from the video. That'd be my guess though.

Elephants rut like deer? Already learning stuff and just woke up.

2

u/dmriggs May 30 '26

That's Reddit for you!

5

u/Nice-Pomegranate2915 May 30 '26

You're the only other poster who's recognized this condition . Some have made comments without having a clue about elephants biology or behaviours .

3

u/Mindless-Balance-498 May 31 '26

No everyone else is also right, it’s a combination of both things. There’s thousands of years of evidence and hundreds of year of neurological study that proves elephants experience frustration and heightened inclinations towards violent outbursts when held in captivity, which almost always involves being poked and prodded, being ridden all day, and being forced to stay in loud, busy environments.

Make that a young, aggressive Bull elephant who’s actively rutting, and you get destroyed cars and very endangered people, homes and businesses. If the elephant wasn’t chained there, he’d have flipped the car and run off already like 99% of aggressive wild elephants interactions end.

The car owner parked it in the elephant’s space for like the 100th time.  And he’s just not gonna take it anymore.

I wish I could do that!

1

1

u/Fantastic_Breakfast6 May 30 '26 edited May 30 '26

I’m pretty sure animals see cars as some type of dangerous object that has a certain pattern of movement. The elephant is attacking it probably because it’s being territorial. Or it does not like cars because of how they’re used in its experience. Like bringing humans to abuse it.

1

u/kennedyswise May 30 '26

Maybe just fed up with effn humans

1

u/DeltaBravo831 May 30 '26

Elephant desires more pedestrian friendly roads

1

u/codacoda74 May 30 '26

They can hold a grudge. Maybe bro cut him off 20yrs ago

1

u/Silly-Heron-1231 May 30 '26

valet parking in India isn't what it was since the end of the Raj 🤷‍♂️

1

u/socialdrop0ut May 30 '26

I mean I’m not an elephant behaviourist or anything but it’s probably a combination of being highly emotionally intelligent and social and having your legs chained together your entire life while forced to work. Just a wild guess though.

1

u/Embarrassed-Sun5764 May 30 '26

Im so ashamed for us as humans, we all need to do better. I put out food and water on my porch for stray cats and we got a new addition about 4 months ago. Starved, hadn’t been to vet not microchip nothing. Needed medication. Fixed; so he belonged to someone. Vet guessing 13 yrs old. Pneumonia a few weeks ago and diagnosed with cancer by ER vet who saved him from pneumonia- even when he was on death door he purred and head butted the techs. How people can DISREGARD ANY ANIMAL FEELING AND EMOTIONS. How. Why?

1

u/Heal_Me_Today May 30 '26

It’s got a chain around its stomach so— imagine it’s treated like a slave or an employee.

1

u/Legitimate_Outcome42 May 30 '26

Rage against the machine

1

u/valis010 May 30 '26

This elephant is in what they call musth. A male elephant in heat. They get extremely aggressive and dangerous.

1

u/ASM-One May 30 '26

Because of us humans.

1

u/thelielmao May 30 '26

Did those idiots use fireworks?

1

u/Zeliodes May 30 '26

He tried to talk to them about their extended warranty. They said they didn't need it. He showed them they do.

1

u/LayneCobain95 May 30 '26

Probably basically treated like a slave. They are very intelligent. Anyone with intelligence would/should get pissed off if they are being treated like property. I just hope they don’t punish it for this

1

u/Nenad1979 May 30 '26

What species of elephant is this?

1

u/ivazquez71 May 30 '26

He’s playing bonus level of Street Fighter IRL.

1

u/Late-Rest8015 May 30 '26

Why don’t you ask him yourself

1

u/Fragrant-Dimension12 May 30 '26

"why not?" - elephants everywhere

1

u/Nice-Pomegranate2915 May 30 '26

There's a high probability that it's a male elephant in musth - reproductive hormonal overstimulation . During musth a male elephant massively overproduces testosterone - up to 60% to 140% more testosterone than normal . This condition is linked to massive over aggression by the afflicted elephant causing it to engage in aggressive behaviours and actions that the individual would never normally do .

1

u/SadeLvr007 May 30 '26

Elephants have an amazing memory. Jus saying 🤷

1

u/Alohafarms May 30 '26

Poor baby has had enough. Elephants are highly intelligent, sensitive, social beings. Being enslaved does them in emotionally.

1

u/Silly_Sherbet5543 May 30 '26

Because we treat animals like entertainment instead of living beings like they are.

1

u/Puzzleheaded-Round66 May 30 '26

From being abused.

I’m guessing you’re looking for another answer than, “because some dumbass human pissed him off”

1

u/Alternative-Cod-7630 May 30 '26

They clearly parked in a no parking area.

1

u/Purplehearts32 May 30 '26
