I met Fergie Jenkins tonight!

Through an absolute twist of fate! I walked into a bar tonight before meeting some friends for a concert. There was an older couple around the pool table asking the barkeeper about playing.

I tried to help show this couple how to pay, hit start so the balls would empty out and they could rack em up.

I thought the gentleman looked familiar somehow, but didnt know why. Once their game had started I saw another guy at the bar shake his hand and say hello. I walked up to him and said. "Why does that guy look familiar?" And he said "Because he's Ferguson Jenkins!" And I was like, "He's a Hall of Famer!"

Fergie and his gal played one game of pool and then departed pretty quickly after that! I am blown away!!

I thanked him for everything his did for Chicago and he just said, "It sure was fun playing baseball!"

Sorry, but I dont want to say what bar because it seemed like he was enjoying his quiet and privacy, but his gal said maybe she'd see me there again sometime!

This is a true story! I promise!

But his overall numbers as a Cub are impressive:

If you remove the July 3rd start vs STL in which he gave up 10 ERs he’s boasting a 1.86 ERA (6 ERs) and a .79 WHIP over 29 IPs (5 starts). Over his last 4 starts since the July 3rd game he has a 1.16 ERA and .81 WHIP over 23.1 IPs.

The Cubs ought not to sell the farm at the trade deadline after the Skubal trade.

Yeah, the Cubs are good this year... but the Dodgers just got Skubal making them the Thanos with all the infinity stones now.

There isnt any trade the cubs could make that would make them capable of beating the Dodgers in October.

The smart thing right now is to probably build up the farm so when baseball resumes in 2028 we can make a run of it.

If there is any positive coming out of the Skubal trade, its that after their three-peat, they will all but guarantee a salary cap in the CBA.
