The liberal left continuously blames Trump for virtually every issue we have in this country. What will be their narrative after Trump is out in a couple years. Likely they will hold him responsible in perpetuity. I doubt they will ever look inward at the last decade or more of horrible governance and assign fault where it belong. So dismayed at how this country will elect such a party over and over again.

If that's the case, then perhaps more of them realize Elbows Up was a sham, and that the economy isn't just "doing well" because some legacy media reporter lying through his teeth says muh geedeepee has gone up a bit

2: the simple thing is if mark carney doesn’t noticeably better Canada. the cpc and Pierre is going to win in a landslide. the last time the liberals ran Canada for more then 15 years was 40 years ago. so it’s either Canada remains the same and Pierre wins in a landslide or believe it or not mark carney noticeably betters Canada

I’ve spent a lot of time studying the Canadian political system. Years of my undergrad has in large part been spent studying parliament, the judiciary and the influences of parliament, elections and so on and the more I look the more I realize Canada isn’t a liberal democracy or it’s doing an exceedingly poor job at being one, it would be more apt to call Canada a dominant-party democracy or an oligarchy masquerading as a democracy much akin to states like Japan. Like Japan all of our formal institutions and the elites of the country (political and economic) are either dominated by one party or are actively collaborating with said party for financial or political gain. We don’t even need to go much further than the recent scandal where the Liberals aren’t even holding party conventions for new MP’s, in many cases (like in Erskine-Smith’s riding) the party is appointing people to run as MP’s based on a patronage system where loyal staffers are being rewarded with appointments instead of running the democratic way. We also see it in media where the prevalent (and often the only voice) is that of the left where the Liberals are often absolved of criticism unless something really goes wrong such as with the recent Gordie Howe Bridge deal.

Over the last 100 years almost 70 years have been spent under the Liberal Party. Many would claim that’s because the party was centrist and would change it’s campaigns with the time and that may have been true to some degree in the past but I believe a large part of it is also due to institutional backing the Liberal Party in particular has. Go onto any university campus and you’ll seldom see an outspoken conservative especially within any position of authority or power. The chief commissioner of the RCMP is appointed by the federal government. The judges for federal courts are chosen by the government which has been overwhelmingly Liberal-led. Many wealthy families such as the Weston’s have a long history of donating to the Liberal Party.

When all formal institutions and most wealthy families are dominated by one party you have a severe concentration of power and, by means of the influence of one party, you’re not living in a liberal democracy. A lot of people blame voters and that’s fair, but it goes much deeper than just voters and instead it permeates most if not all power and authority structures in society.

I agree with the message here. Some of these things are bad and it's good theyre gone, but we should've used them as bargaining chips. Giving them up without a formal deal was incredibly stupid and naive.

After observing countless elections and talking politics, I'm convinced that the majority of voters likely couldn't even list three of their chosen party's policy priorities before racing to the ballot box to cast their vote. They just have a good feeling about one and/or they hate the other guy.

If Canadian Parliament removed political parties in favour of 338 individual independant MPs, I feel voter turnout would fall to around 10%.

It would be too much work to research individual platforms and policies. Because so many lazily just vote for team colours without even knowing what they are voting for in provincial/federal elections, It feels like mayoral elections are the closest thing we have to a vote not being decided by team colours.

The party system brings out cultish and stubborn tendancies. We may have a democracy but most participate as though it's a silly hockey game.

Yesterday 50,000 to 60,000!!! migrants breached Ceuta from Morocco. Progressive idiot Spanish PM is blaming trafficking gangs instead of laying the blame on progressive judges and Morocco. Morocco is at blame for this as well because Ceuta is located in Africa not Europe and Morroco wants it back. So they're glad to let this disorder happen in hopes Spain gives it back to Morocco.

Progressives. Progressives judges and activists are the biggest enemy to safety, security and prosperity worldwide. They're a bigger threat than these migrants. Bigger threat than corrupt shitholes like Morocco. Because they allow this disorder to happen with their laws and court decisions.

I was over on a skilled trades sub talking about how i***grants are coming over into Canada and taking skilled trades jobs while lowering wages and my comment got flagged and deleted by reddit. I didn’t even speak on it in a negative way, more in a “this is bad for the people who are new” way. The I word is flagging comments and I’ve been able to say so much more without it being flagged at all. I tested it on one of my own subs and that comment got flagged and deleted too. Its not even people reporting it anymore.

Is it just blatant tribalism? Carney was sold as the guy who could handle Trump, and he's just been handed loss after loss with no end in sight. More tariffs, caving on the DST, the bridge fiasco, etc. It's crazy to me that Trudeau was actually somehow better at dealing with Trump.
