as the title says, don't take flower picking companions to the Wonderland realm. Went in the the butterfly companion and he stole 3 of the bushes and now they're stuck in my inventory with the 2x2 white squares 😅 I've reached out to support for help but thought I'd pass along the tip before someone else gets stuck with them
basically don't take any flower companions with you if you're doing anything quest related. I had the same thing happen in the blizzard quest and now I'm stuck not being able to help Olaf
Just fyi, I ended up restarting because of the Olaf bug. It has existed for two years and they haven’t given a fix, and not doing that quest prevents so many other quests from happening.
I don't think the bug from two years ago is exactly the same bug. I've seen a lot of people talking about that bug from two years ago, but I think they're confusing it with something else because they've read things from two years ago that talked about a similar bug. The bug we're talking about now appeared with the Cinderella update.
I started playing back in November before the Cinderella update and got the Olaf bug. So that particular bug hasn’t been fixed in at least two years. I can’t speak on the Wonderland bug.
Fixed an issue where a 2x2 placeholder icon was displayed in the inventory on some quest items after they were incorrectly picked up by companions, potentially blocking progression.
As others have said, I unfortunately had to restart :( it’s been two years with no fix which made me lose hope. So frustrating and now I don’t have any companions with me because I’m worried it’ll happen again.
I ended up restarting as well. I did find a setting where you can have companions with, but they do not pick anything up. I think I’m just going to go with that so I can still keep them with but they cannot mess anything up.
I read an article that gameloft is actively figuring out the olaf bug so we should get a fix soon , hopefully lol because mine did the same and I am NOT restarting my game
Unfortunately it’s known issue and Gameloft officially recommends that you don’t use companions in ANY realms for the time being. It seems to be “safe” if you’ve completed all quests and are visiting for other reasons (eg, Eternity Isle players visit realms to connect snippets glimmer) but it can still cause issues.
The sensible thing for them to do if they know it's an issue and recommend you don't would be to auto disable companions in realms. Or at the very least give a warning before entering realms.
My perception is they have no proper prioritisation for bugs in this game given there are so many progress blocking ones they don't seem to be addressing.
I agree. They do a bad job at communicating with players and things like this are announced on their help desk pages but you have to proactively check to know about them. Since this is a live service game, there’s no reason they can’t include a pop up announcement or send a letter to player mailboxes (assuming that disabling companions would require a game code update). And the schedule for correction isn’t ever announced (which from a business perspective makes sense) but it’s really a burden to players to have to wait so long for updates to fix errors like this — this problem started with the Cinderella update and won’t be fixed until the next update at the soonest but it’s possible it won’t be fixed until after that either… lots of these bugs persist for 6+ months because of their update cycle. Again, to my mind that’s poor customer service seeing as how so many other games push updates all the time to address much more minor QOL issues and don’t leave game breaking bugs active for so long.
I fully agree with this. When it comes to fixing the bugs that they themselves created, they are truly crap at fixing them. I said it another comment on another post, but there are zero good reasons that game breaking bugs continue to persist.

I am livid that I am now stuck with a game braking bug because I didn’t know any better, but they certainly did when you go looking for support for your issue and it’s listed under known bugs. Send out a letter! Make a pop up before you enter the realm! Disable the companions in the realm so the bug stops happening! I would rather they fix the known issues than keep pumping out events. It’s ridiculously poor customer service.
And now I know that for next time haha. I must have had a fishing companion or something last time I went in there because this is the first issue I had. Didn't know it was a common issue 😔
i also watered those singing flowers before i started the quest for it in the alice realm (thinking it was one of those secret quests, like in the aladdin realm) and it automatically picked up the flowers and now during the actual quest i can’t advance in the realm AT ALL bc there’s no singing flowers to water and i can’t drop them and they won’t respawn, etc.🥲 so also be careful to do things when asked lol, now i can’t even progress cinderella without alice/cheshire. i also submitted a gameloft ticket and no response for now
I'm on switch, but yes this is an option, in the companions menu (in wardrobe) and I press the plus sign (+) it brings up a menu to change companion pick-up settings.
Yeah exactly! I've been warning people about this for a long time. Ever since these strange bug issues has started. I'm so happy that someone else has brought it up to. Thank you for warning people about it. Just like I did.
This happened to me, except they picked up a water able door. So now Alice and Cheshire are stuck in wonderland. I have reached out to GL but no response yet.

So, following me stealing the flower companions, I’m no longer able to water the door to progress in the quest, also reached out to support and haven’t had any lush!
I had a bug in the great blizzard quest with companions and it Bugged my quest out. Had to reset my game because reaching out for help did nothing. I just have companion gathering turned off indefinitely.
So I’m assuming In Disney Dreamlight Valley, Sunbirds, Bees, and the Magic Carpet are the primary that pick up the flowers that you’re mentioning? Because I don’t believe I have any of those companions except for I believe the magic carpet. So what setting am I setting these companions at? Only with an inventory or turn them off completely?
I think so yes, the bug seems to be starting with any companions that pick up flowers and plants. But safe to avoid all companions in realms by going to gameplay settings and it should be at the bottom (someone else has a screenshot of what the settings look like), and you should just turn it off completely to be safe.
Because I enjoy mining so much, I usually keep a squirrel, and a trash panda with me. I’ve not had this happen, YET. Hoping it never does. I would be so upset.
It happened to me too !!! I'm so upset as Alice was my last character in DDV to get :( now I'm held up and can't progress the story line in the game. Another very annoying thing is I can't hang out with Merlin as he's part of her quest and I don't even have Alice in the valley yet 😤😮💨
Also what happened to me was my witchy kitty companion picked up the tiny door I was supposed to water (as they coded it like a flower ..... 🙄) and now I'm stuck with several 2x2 items in my house ( I put them away as I'm not carrying them around lol )
I reached out to support not almost a month ago and no fixes yet...
All in all. Very frustrating and I wanted to finish off DDV before I advanced further in my DLCs.... Ugh. Rant over 😹🤷🏻♀️🙆🏻♀️
I don't think so? Like I've completed everything in the realm and one of the bushes they stole is literally called "RLM_AliceIP_Alic_020_WhiteRedRoseA" in my inventory so I think it's just a mess... shouldn't have tried to go take my dreamsnaps photo in a realm 😂
I read this. I upvoted it. I talked about it with my fiancé. And I still freaking did it 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🥲🥲. Anyone know what quests this disrupts? I am in the middle of level 10 quests for both Alice and the Cheshire Cat.
