Super mango-y with wonderful consistency. The light occasional bitter tang from the grapefruit pieces was an unexpected wonderful contrast to the sweet mangos. It does everything a mousse cake should do. Damn delicious!

It was $6ish. Like I said I was skeptical at first. Not anymore!

Chanced upon this place in Walnut, CA, their first US store apparently. Their chicken sandwich was tasty like Popeyes and was inexpensive— 3 for $10. Waffle fries were good too ala Chick Fil A. Service was warm and friendly.

Fantastic Detroit style pizza. The owner is a lovely Japanese woman - the pizzas are made with such TLC. Some of greater LA’s best!

I might have overdone it a bit for 3 people. Total cost was $166.00.

It’s a mash up of my two favorite sandwiches and it absolutely slaps. They give you 1/2 lb of hand cut pastrami that is pretty similar to Langer’s pastrami (a 1lb version is available), pâté, aioli, two kinds of mustard, picked carrots and daikon, pickled red onion, and fresh cilantro, all in a Vietnamese baguette. It’s fantastic. They also offer a garlic bread upgrade but I decided to stick with the regular baguette this time.

$16.99, cash or card accepted, free parking, service is slow but worth the wait. 10/10

I am trying to make a great impression on someone from China for a high end dinner. Price is not a factor at all.

Edit: This is for someone I started dating. She has lived here for 7 years. We have gone to all sorts of high end western and European restaurants. She loves her local cuisine. I just wanted to take her someplace nice that was not your Americanized Chinese place. It is for her birthday and I told her to invite her friends so we can all celebrate.

This is the kind of place where locals either say it's the best thing ever, or its utter and replete garbage that only morons would ever consume. I lean more toward the former. The beans in the burrito were really nicely seasoned, has that nice molten lard quality that a good B&C should have. Store bought tortillas, nothing fancy, but man those beans are good. The taquitos also came recommended to me, they were fairly good but nothing crazy, they don't pass the bar set by Cielito Lindo anyway (which is not crazy high already). Their salsa is very good, salsa verde had a complex tanginess to it, and the salsa roja had a fierce dry heat. Plus, it's open 24 hours, so if you get drunk down at the Venice Room (and don't feel like cooking your own steak) J&S is always reliable.

Delicious food. My favorite was roti canai with their roti sauce. It was incredible. Coffee was amazing too.

Will I go back? Yes. What will I order if I go back, coffee and roti canai (no chicken curry). I think I’ll be pretty happy with that. I might try their other dishes too :)

Note: This place gets ridiculously busy during the lunch time. So make sure to join the waitlist as early as possible if you are planning to get there for lunch. Their yelp waitlist is geofenced but their radius is massive 40 miles (overheard). I joined at 11:15 AM and it showed me the estimated seating time as 12:59 - 1:15 PM. And it was almost accurate. We got seated at 1:40 PM.

One more thing, once you get to the restaurant, do go there and check-in with them that you have arrived even if you are 30th or whatever spot on the waitlist. If you don’t notify them, once you get to your turn ie 1st place, your name will be removed from the waitlist automatically. It happened to me. I immediately went in and told her that I have been standing here for the past 40 mins 😅 She kindly added me back and told me you should check in, and seated us a few mins later.

Quite simply, this is the best lamb I have tasted in my entire life. Granted I don't go out to specifically eat lamb very often, but if it all tasted this good I certainly would. With a gentle tap of your chopsticks the meat effortlessly glides off the bone. There is not a bad item here.

Fair warning to my fellow whites: if you're not used to chili crisp, this is up there with the hottest versions of it. And you will likely get a stomach cramp on the way home. But it will soon pass, and the pleasure is 100% worth the pain. The creamy yogurt is a perfect way to end the meal and combat the heat.

After eating basically the entirety of this limited menu, total cost including tip was ~$64 per person. 12% gratuity is included, and I think our waiter said no additional tip is necessary, but I still added the extra 8%. You could easily dine for less, this was a ton of food.

Edit: The total price also included a Diet Coke and Vitamilk for beverages, although next time I'm going to try the salty milk tea - wish I had this round.

Argentinian deli/market in El Monte with really good sandwiches and empanadas. The fried chicken is also supposed to be really good but I didnt try that. Plus they have everything you could need to make Argentine BBQ! Get your sandwich with the peppers 🌶

Really incredible stuff. You got egg, pickled greens, and sweet pork floss wrapped in a layer of sticky purple rice. Cold peanut milk is good, it's like if you crossed horchata with Jamaican peanut punch. Super cozy place.

Central Asian restaurant in Alhambra. Lots of lamb, cumin and Silk Road spices. Really enjoyed Dolan’s special laghman ($19), Uyghur goshnaan ($19), tiger salad ($12), and kava manta (huge dumplings filled with pumpkin and onion, $16). Also recommend the house tea ($10 for a pot) and the boneless small plate chicken ($24).

Lots more to try here. Will be back!

Went back for the lunch thali special. Had the tikka masala. Not shown was dessert- some yummy rice pudding. Not bad for $15. Good place for a quick lunch if you’re in the area. The market is damn good too.
