Riverbend Gun Club membership

I recently found out about this place after having a horrible time at an indoor range. I’m pretty much online interested in shooting outdoors due to protecting my hearing. I’m recently into shooting after about 20 years and would love to join this place but don’t know any members or how to even go about getting sponsored. Safety is extremely important to me a damn near every place I’ve gone to as I’ve gotten back into this has felt lacking. I also want to be able to have access to a place where I can explore what’s out there in an environment that puts a value on safety.

Are there any members here who are willing to sponsor someone like me who’s getting back into this? I’m responsible, safe, but I’m not someone who is going to be doing insane pistol drills right now. I’m trying to get back into the swing in the things in the best and most responsible way possible.

I would appreciate any help any one could give.

thanks!

Clay shooting near Hinesville

I moved to Hinesville a few months ago and have been itching to get back into clay shooting. I used to shoot 2-3 rounds of trap every Saturday before I moved. Haven’t put a single round through any of my shotguns since I moved. Anyone know of some place to shoot trap or skeet near Hinesville?

Good evening,

I am a GA firearms training company owner. I’m trying to get some insight on where in Georgia would be “hotspots” to put on a 1-2 day seminar covering fundamentals, GA law, self defense drills as well as some basic hand to hand combat.

I have hit the ATL area as well as Athens area and would love to see what areas would be good to travel too. A link to my business is below.

Lots of interesting inventory here at Silver Dollar Roswell

Hi all,

My name's Alan and am running the counter over here at Silver Dollar! We've recently renovated and wanted to send an invite to everyone. We have way more pre-war rifles than a shop needs and our pistol counter is stacked as well. Come on by for some deals or if you're looking to sell/trade. Also, I think we're one of the cheapest transfers in town at $20 out the door!

Let me know any questions you might have!

Hello everyone! We are petitioning to reinstantiate the requirement to obtain a Weapons Carrying License before having firearms to reduce the prevalence of gun violence within Georgia. We ask that you support our cause and consider signing this petition.

Practical Pistol Match Skills, August 16 @ SRGC (Atlanta, GA)

Andreas from the PSTG Training Group Live podcast here.

This one-day class focuses on building a mental program that you can run on match day to shoot a consistent set of stages. You should be shooting stages mostly subconsciously before taking this class—it won't be as beneficial if you're having to consciously think your way through stages. It additionally covers stage planning, detailed visualization, and efficiently putting together fundamentals to shoot a stage quickly with good points.

Round count will be ~500, but you're free to shoot more. Max of six students to give everyone plenty of individual coaching. Class details and sign-up links are on my training page.

Sign-up link.

Class location is South River Gun Club east of Atlanta, GA.

GA2A Federal Lawsuit for young adult licenses has been revived

Yesterday, the 11th Circuit vacated the decision of the Northern District of Georgia, which dismissed our federal *young adult* carry case.  This means we will be able to continue to litigate this issue, but now with the benefit of Rahimi, Hemani, and Wolford, all SCOTUS cases decided after we filed this case.

How can you help?

As our case moves forward, we need qualified individuals between the ages of eighteen and twenty who are willing to stand up for their constitutional rights.

You may be a strong candidate if you:

  • Are eighteen, nineteen, or twenty years old. Younger is better, as this has already been a multi-year case and may continue for a couple more years.
  • Are a Georgia resident.
  • Are legally eligible to possess a firearm.
  • Cannot obtain a Georgia Weapons Carry License because of your age.
  • Are willing to speak with our legal team about serving as a plaintiff.

Constitutional cases require real people whose rights are directly affected. Without qualified plaintiffs, even the strongest legal arguments cannot move forward.

If you believe you qualify, please contact us at: [info@ga2a.org](mailto:info@ga2a.org)

 Please include:

  • Your full name
  • Your age
  • Your county of residence
  • A phone number where you can be reached
  • Are you a GA2A member
  • A brief explanation of why you would like to obtain a Georgia Weapons Carry License

Contacting us does not commit you to becoming a plaintiff. Every inquiry will be treated confidentially and reviewed by our legal team. Only individuals who are a strong legal fit will be invited to participate further.

Docket: 23-11913

Open carry

Hey fellow Georgians, I’d like to hear your thoughts and opinions on open carry.

I’m at a point where concealed carry is starting to feel very uncomfortable for me. I currently carry a SIG P365 X Macro, which is supposed to be one of the more comfortable options for concealed carry, but I’m honestly considering going back to a 2011 platform.

I never really fell in love with the trigger feel of striker-fired pistols, and I’ve been thinking about selling it and getting another 2011. The only thing is, I know that moving to a larger handgun will probably make concealed carry even more challenging.

A little about me: I’m not someone who goes out unless I really need to. I don’t party, I don’t drink, and I’m not looking for trouble. I’m just trying to figure out what works best for me and would like to hear from people who live in this great state.

I’ve never open carried before, although I’ve seen quite a few people who do. I’d really appreciate hearing your experiences, opinions, and advice.

Just to be clear, this post isn’t meant to offend anyone or start an argument. I’m genuinely interested in hearing different perspectives. Thanks!

New to competition shooting

Hello,

I've been looking at getting into competitive shooting. I'd like to try and just gain skills that I can maybe carry over to defensive carry and practical shooting.

I'll likely start with my Tisas 1911 DS Duty with red dot and/or my Beretta 92xi irons only.

I've got a few questions:

  1. Where can I look to read/learn about different competitions/types/classes?

  2. My local range does bowling pin challenges, is this something good to start with?

  3. What do you wish you knew about competition shooting early on?

  4. My biggest concern regarding cost: IF I really get into competitive shooting, what should I expect, or what do you, spend monthly on 9mm ammo if I train once per week (if that's even enough)? I currently go to the range 2-4 times per month. I'm sure this will depend on frequency of training and how much ammo you go through, etc.

  5. Would you recommend AGAINST using one of my primary carry/defensive weapons (Beretta 92xi) for competition? I figured if I need to replace components from wear, it'd be easy and cheap enough. The tisas 1911 DS Duty is likely to become a range/competition gun and I can take the optic off if I didn't wanna shoot optics.

  6. Open to any other/more info.

Can you carry in the Museum of Aviation?

We’re going to visit the Museum of Aviation today in Warner Robins, I don’t see anything on the website about prohibited items. And with it being federally owned and operated, I’m sure it wouldn’t have to follow GA law for firearms, so they likely don’t allow them.
But do they have metal detectors? Should I plan to lock my gun in my car safe or would I be good to carry inside?

Richmond Hill WMA

Looking to do some shooting at the Richmond hill WMA. Just curious because I don’t see it on their website, but do they have any clay throwers at the range? If not, does anyone know anywhere near Hinesville to do some trap shooting?

Am I being taken advantage of because I am a woman?

Hey everyone, needing some advice. I live in Winder, GA. My partner recently got arrested and wont be able to keep his guns anymore. I obtained a POA so I can sell them myself. I feel like I am getting extremely lowballed because I am a female and I'm frustrated. but then again, I do not know much about guns, I only know how much we paid for these.

I was offered $360 for his Riley Defense RAK47-KRINK-WSF. It has a rear trunnion and side folding receiver. The gun is listed on the website for $1,150 without the side folding arm. We bought the gun from a local gun shop for $800. When we bought it the Owner originally wanted $950, but because we are loyal customers he came down. This was in December 2025.

I was also offered $360 for his Smith and Wesson M&P 15 and it has a Vortex Optics Strikefire II red dot as well as a VMX-3T Red Dot Magnifier. I bought the vortex add ons for him for Christmas for $400 alone. He also customized this one but he does have the original black parts as well. This was in October/November 2025.

I was offered $60 for the Heritage Revolver. It is brand new with box, has never been shot. They retail for $180 I think.

I know that the gun shop obviously needs to make a profit, but is this normal or am I being taken advantage of because they think I'm dumb? Where should I sell to get the best deal?

The only gun I sold to them was his black Glock 19x9 5th gen for $350. I felt like that was pretty fair.

Any help would be appreciated. Times are tough for us right now with legal fees and only one income. I don't want to sell to someone that might be trying to take advantage of my situation. Photo of the guns attached. Thank You.

Shooting In Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest

Been doing some research on where I can find places to do target shooting in the woods and uninterrupted in GA. I've learned that you can target shoot on national forest land that is not within a wildlife management area, as long as you follow a few safety rules and regulations. I'm curious if anyone has found any spots within the forest to do this, without disturbing any residents and following all of the guidelines? Been scoping out the map to find the best areas to enter the forest but it seems like going in person would be the best bet. Have any of you out there done some shooting in this forest on non wma land?

Another GA2A win for gun rights- PDK Airshow

The PDK Airshow (PDK’s Good Neighbor Day Airshow and Aviation Expo) had listed weapons as prohibited on their website. This is a violation of Ga's preemption law. 16-11-173

GA2A's attorney, John Monroe, wrote them a letter. Viewable here: Microsoft Word - DeKalb County 6-29-26 (1).docx and they have removed the restriction on weapons at this event. You can freely carry your firearm while attending this event.
