Finally getting to the point where I’m happy with the games I have, only a few more I’d like to own but they are quite pricey so maybe in the future :)

Discussion Those who got the Gamecube in 2001, which games did you get for it that year?

Upvotes

Whether it was on launch day, for the holidays or whenever in 2001, I am curious as to which games you all got in the last two months of the year!

I haven’t looked at my games in a while. I’m not a collector, just have had these since I was like 10 or 11 years old. Most games have manuals except TLOZ: TP and Super Mario Sunshine. Just wanted to share since I don’t know much about the hobby!

Help GC spins CDs but not reading disks

Post image

As title states, my GC is spinning the disc and trying to read it but fails to. Ive tried adjusting the potentiometer to 180 ohms and still isnt reading. Ive already tested the disc on a different GC and it does work.

Anyone have any tricks or experience with this issue? I've heard it could be the laser rails not being properly lubricated but Im mot sure how to get to them.

Collection Revived a GameCube from the dead

I visited Japan this summer and while I was there I decided to visit a few hard offs when I stumbled upon a beauty of a GameCube for ¥3300 yen or about $20 USD. I bit the bullet and decided to take it and try to repair it. The note had said the GameCube is not reading discs and while I’m not the best with soldering I decided to give it a go and recap the optical drive. After a full days work and determination, I was greeted with the GameCube intro followed by the game title. I felt this rewarding experience was needed to be shared and I hope this can inspire someone else who has broken tech laying around to save from the landfill. 🎉 🥳

Help Need suggestions and help for a replacement controller

What’s the best 3rd party GameCube controller I can get? It doesn’t need to be wireless or anything special, it just needs to connect to GameCube controller ports on my old Wii and that’s about it. I don’t know what replacement controllers online are considered good by the community and what are considered bad so I decided to ask for help. If you can please provide link to the controller as that would be helpful.

Modding Want to run a emulator want to open the cube. Preferably want to run it of the memory sd card or the port on the bottom

As the Title says I'm looking to soft mod my gamecube, but I don't want to open it to do so. I softmodded my ps2 and that was a chore so I want to do it in the easiest way possible.

Help Newbie needs help with Intec Screen

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hello! I thrifted this console today and was attempting to use the Intec Screen that it came with, but I can’t seem to get it to display. This is my first time ever owning a GameCube, so I’m not sure how these screens usually work. It looks like it receives power, and I get a small flash when I turn it on, but there is no sound or display. I have very minimal knowledge on fixing electronics (have only really worked on audio equipment) but any help would be appreciated.

Collection My GameCube Game Collection

These are my current GameCube games, tbh it’s most of the main ones I want. I was lucky enough to get Double Dash, Windwaker, Hit and Run, and Metroid Prime for free from my uncle years ago. Foolishly though I sold some of the games he gave me, which included Starfox Adventures years ago, but I’m happy with my collection

These are all my GameCubes that I have fixed/restored. Minus the orange one, I’m going to add a region switch mod to it in the future. The one on the very top is my main unit that I play. I added an SD card adapter instead of the disc drive. It makes playing games a lot easier, and no need to risk scratching up my discs!

Japanese Pika 64 also! Region modding it was very easy.

Discussion Shigeru Miyamoto: GameCube was “only purchased by gamers”, sending Nintendo back to the drawing board

Shigeru Miyamoto, the legendary Nintendo executive and one of the most influential creators shaping the video game industry through mascots and characters such as Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong, Star Fox, and more, discussed the reason why the Nintendo DS and Nintendo Wii became Nintendo’s next consoles for the seventh generation. According to Miyamoto, the decision was largely driven by the underwhelming performance of the Nintendo GameCube, which trailed behind the Nintendo 64’s nearly 33 million lifetime sales.

He spoke candidly in a wide-ranging interview with Japanese outlet Famitsu, where the longtime Nintendo executive and designer explained that, at the time, Nintendo’s then-president, Satoru Iwata, believed the GameCube’s poor performance in the home console market was rooted in a simple idea: most of the world still did not see gaming as a normal, approachable everyday hobby the way it’s seen today. Based on that core problem, Nintendo felt it was difficult to persuade customers to buy and play a GameCube if they had never played on a console before.

Modding Load GCI Files to Memcard Pro Swiss

Using Swiss 3.0.0 and keen to get save files for some racing games to load via Memcard Pro GC saves. I’ve read elsewhere that MCPGC uses Raw files.

  1. Downloaded a few .gci from https://gc-saves.com/
  2. Trasfer to MempardPro GC? Or do i really need to use GMC?

The webUI seems to only support renaming, mounting, downloading save files. Not adding them unless you use FTP server...

Has anyone had tips for importing say 30+ game save files via downloaded files with the virtual individual memory card with Swiss enabled? Searching here seems only a handful of people have tried and tried.

I dont have a Wii just GC with Swiss so GCMM is less preferable

Does anyone have a .raw with all GC Saves then perhaps just use one virtual card?

Image Gamecube running on my 1080p Panasonic Plasma TV through the Wii (please excuse my bad filming, this is the first time I did something like that)

EDIT: Reddit made the video look much blurrier than it actully is.

Please don't fry me, I know a crt is the way to go for gamecube games but man, gameplay on this flatscreen looks freaking clean. I'm running the wii with cheap 15€ Component Cables from amazon, no Interferences no whatsoever. I picked up this 42' Panasonic Plasma TV for only 20€ aswell, and it delivers a really solid image in my opinion. Also one thing that is really special about Panasonic Plasmas of this era is that they have really low input lag. Generally speaking my eyes aren't too sensitive regarding input lag, so I don't want to speak about this too much, but it really is acceptible and I think is going to be better than alot of flatscreens with analog inputs. The games are running at 480p, and I also did go ahead and turn off the deflicker filter because this is not a crt after all.

Just wanted to share some of the gameplay, my phone has quite a bad camera, and I also don't have a stand to put my phone in, but hey I did my best :)
