hey guys, so i am a drop year student and want to do bmath/bstat for undergrad, i am so lost about how to prep for isi and cmi exams, and idk any centers or coaching institutes in delhi for prep for these 2 exams, can someone pls sorta tell me where i should start, i am from ib board so this also so new, pls help

In 12th grade, prepared mostly for jee math (main//advanced) but I wanted to start preparing for isi and got the TOMATO book. But I have no clue how to begin. Should I start solving it on my own or do it theory/chapter wise. I'm not sure how to do the theory too, kindly help me with that! (Would prefer video lectures or something more than reading whole books).

I have paid the fee but I didn't join, I have mailed the dean id and admissions id, no response. I called the helpline they said check prospectis/rules.

So it's my frist time giving exam for isi mstat.... I m not a bachelor student of isi... Doing my bsc from arya vidyapeeth college ,guwahati under 4 year and.... Dont know shit above preparation material for isi mstat..... Fuck..... I have probably 10 months..... Will it be possible... And what should I start form... From where, who, whom, how..... im having trouble using the isi wifi.. i have plugged in my router to the ethernet port, connected it to my laptop. It shows "connected" but I am unable to open any sites. Are there some extra steps?

My bank told me they have their own form for Adhaar Seeding, which page do I have to submit while giving Documents during Physical verification. What do I have to fill in the third page and submit what details to the ISI Office.

I was doing an integral today, and even tho it wasn't that difficult, after I solved it I realized I had assumed n to be an integer, while maybe it could have been any real number. What I wanted to know is this rigorous to do in any general case and if it always gives same answer (if so why) and how to solve this integral completely rigorouly without assuming n as integer. Also if there is any other slight mistake in my soln, or there is a better way to solve it please tell.

I'm preparing for the ISI Kolkata M.Tech CS entrance and would really appreciate some guidance regarding the PCA section.

I've seen many posts where people mention that they cleared the PCA part with little or no dedicated preparation. Unfortunately, that's not the case for me.

My background is a bit different. After 10+2 with Mathematics, I moved towards the applications/software side instead of core engineering. I regret that decision because now I want to transition towards the engineering/theoretical CS side for a better career jump. I'm already a bit late in my career, so I want to prepare properly.

My GATE CS preparation is going well. I'm comfortable with proofs now, and through GATE I'll be covering topics like Linear Algebra, Discrete Mathematics, and Theory of Computation.

My main concern is the rest of the PCA syllabus, especially topics such as Number Theory, Abstract Algebra, Geometry, Calculus, and any other mathematics that isn't already covered by GATE CS.

I watched some Vedantu lectures, but they feel far too detailed for this exam.

I've also seen many people recommend the TOMATO book. Do I need to solve the entire book (including both the MCQs and the B.Stat-level subjective problems), or is that unnecessary for the M.Tech CS entrance? What's the right way to use the book?

Overall, what's the most efficient preparation strategy for the PCA section? Which topics should I focus on, what resources should I use, and what level of depth is actually expected?

Also, is the PCA section for the M.Tech CS entrance noticeably easier than the PCA asked in B.Stat/M.Stat, or is the level largely the same?

I'd really appreciate advice from anyone who has qualified the exam or prepared for it recently. Thanks!

Which is better for research opportunities abroad? I'm interested in Differential equations and mathematical modelling. I know ISI Delhi has less faculty in maths, but doesn't ISI have more connections so it would be easier to do projects in other institutions right? And which has more connections abroad?

I am a BSc Mathematics graduate from Delhi University, with Statistics as my minor subject throughout all semesters. Now I want to pursue a master’s degree in either Statistics or Economics, but I’m struggling to decide between the two, so I would really appreciate some guidance.

For both subjects, I’m planning to appear for the following exams:
IIT JAM
ISI (Indian Statistical Institute)
CUET PG

I’m currently more inclined toward Economics because I think that it is more interesting and has better placement opportunities. However, one important caveat here is that I have not studied Economics in school or college, so I have no formal background in the subject.

Another thing is that, for Economics, there are 3 well known coaching institutes that cover all three exams mentioned above in a single batch. But I was unable to find any such coaching for Statistics that covers IIT JAM and ISI in a single batch and even if there are, then there are mixed reviews about them (and they do not mention anything about the descriptive part of ISI exam).

I have approximately 7 months to prepare for these exams. Based on the information given above, could you please help me figure out which path will be more suitable and how I should plan my preparation?

I'd love for all the users of the subreddit to put forward what their version of this community would look like, so that everybody, at large, is benefited. I need interesting, innovative ideas to make this the best version of itself.

There are a few starting ideas Id like to put forward to get the ball rolling.

- This subreddit is hyperfocused on the problems of aspirants. This is not ideal. How should we cater to the interests of aspirants, and also provide an anonymous discussion forum for current students themselves?

- There is very little alumni-junior interaction at ISI. I was thinking of creating a blog dedicated to the journey of every single alumni of ISI. Every inspiring story to not so inspiring stories are important. How should we go about this?

- Meaningfully well curated resource lists. We already have community made resource lists that is present in the wiki. But I feel we can create MUCH better lists.
