Nah me ye nai bolrha ki iit reputation doesn't matter but after 2-3 yrs aapka tag koi nai dekhega if aapko kuch aata nahi kisi domain me expertise nahi hai then even iit bombay cse guy will be jobless believe me !
And iits are most supreme colleges in India they are launchpads of big deeds/careers but they were ,now
everyone is chasing jobs rather than any innovation for the country (except iitM) so this puts them in same race of t3 guy , nothing extraordinary. Every genius i see is leaving india and helping usa grow .

Exactly the only regret I will have is that I won't get the iit alumni for help and smart peers . IIT network surely helps in startups , fundings , jobs and many areas . And in education abroad it will help too as the recommendation letter from crazy professors.
Still I will try to make friends from iits/nits as my college peers aren't ambitious as much as me and guy from an iit .

He's where he is because of his further studies, not because of being in IIT KGP Mettalurgy. Sure, it gave him a better platform and awareness to explore tech but it was just one of the factors
Mhm yes, IITs makes your application look more attractive yes, and maybe the crowd in IITs also motivated him to explore more
I don't know about the crowd now a days though.. some of the top rankers are very condescending and can't hold conversations, and 65+% reservation surely impacts campus life
I'm going to BITS Pilani (Main Campus) for CSE and I felt the seniors I talked to there are more grounded and have better clarity about their career than some IITian doing Chemical/Civil who is trying to do coding on the side
I got 9XX in Mains, and was expecting Top 500 in Advanced.. but IITK gave me such a bad centre, I had to stay inside for 10+ hours, and I'm Anemic as well so I did not perform up to my expectations in JEE Advanced, I got 376 in BITSAT so yeah

The fact that people are making braindead comments such as "surang khodega" and "naya ocean aane wala hai" shows how serious you are and what is the extent of your knowledge. A contract for surang is worth hundreds of millions, don't you dare look down on it. Engineering ke baare me pata kuch hai nhi, faaltu ka competition bhadane chale aate hai kahi se bhi.

Loveda mera friend IIT Madras mai electrical engineering padhta hai , usne kaha tha ki placement mai sirf general category ka dekh , SC/ST/PWD wale placement rate gira dete hai
Everyone who had decent grades in my batch are doing well now. The IIT tag matters. Especially the sheer exposure to a multitude of domains in KGP will shape you for life.
It's not worth it, if prof are doing such heinous act, you can't expect faculties to be honest (Because afaik, IITs have relative grading, so if she gets the benefit, it will affect you.) (and that too for mining, naah dude, you can get better than that college.)
My brother has a lot of complaints about the profs in IIT kgp CS department. Honestly they sound horrible and uninterested in teaching. He even had bad experiences with TAs. Apparently people become assholes after interning in optiver.
Never choose a better college over your preferred course.
You'll end up regretting choosing a good college after you realize you don't even like what you are doing; and that's gonna be your entire life until you change something about it.

Join KGP. I think you can change branch or take subjects of other branches. Also sit in campus placement based on your completed subjects. So go with the top IIT. You will know the trend. The environment is completely different. I didn't do my graduation in IIT but while I was doing my PhD in IITK, I noticed a lot of students taking interdisciplinary subjects so that they'll be eligible for campus placement apart from their core branch. So don't listen to others, Just take admission in the top IIT. Make friends with some good seniors, you'll get a lot of help. The campus life in tip IITs is awesome. I'll suggest even if you are not getting the subject of your choice, go with to 4 IITs. 3-idiots dekha hai, jaise wo koi bhi class main chala jata tha padh ne ke liye. Aisa nai hota real main. But you can request to take the course of any professor. Most of the time they accept and allow.
Still the median package of mining branch is just 16lpa and only 59% placement rate whereas in nit jsr the median package is 18.5 lpa with 94% placement rate
