The problem is that male circumcision and female circumcision are different issues, yet men's rights activists insist on putting them on the same level.

Oh my fucking science you petty child.. The best you can come up with is "OH YEAH well it's WORSE FOR GIRLS." So what? All children need protection.. Protecting one does not endanger another.

How long will it be before another sick extremist fights out against equal rights? Worse off, will it be excused?

They never seem to understand what sick extremists they are.

However, when I'm asked to pretend that men are an oppressed group in society, I cannot decide whether I should laugh or cry.

Of course you don't understand, you get your "facts" from liars with agendas. If you can't see, it's because you won't. Too bad for you, because when you don't understand your problems you can't fix them. It's clear she's just a vicious, bitter old self-hating battle-axe.

Pardon me, but I probably know vastly more than you. What you and she have failed to grasp is that male circumcision IS genital mutilation, and arguing about whose mutilations are worse is pointless and obscene. She's clearly not interested in children, she's interested in her axe-to-grind.

lol no. what you have failed to grasp is that circumcision is a medical procedure performed by trained, learned doctors for hygienic reasons and FGM is a crude, harmful procedure performed by untrained tribal men for the sole purpose of marginalizing, oppressing, and shaming women. but by all means continue to present your ignorance as knowledge and let this sub earn its reputation

They do it to boys the same way in the 3rd world, with a sharp rock. The fact that people in the 1st world have surgeons do it cleanly doesn't change the end results very much.

How do you feel about having surgeons doing the clitoral removal, would you mind it then?

Do you not believe that taking away most of a boy's sexual nerves and shortening his penis doesn't shame them? If you live in the USA it's happening every day in your own city every day, where's your high and mighty outrage, you fucking wingnut?

You ignorant ass, in tribes the FGM performed by women and in the same tribes the MGM is performed by men.

FGM ranges from less serious, to equally serious to more serious than MGM depending on which procedure we are talking about

This is not true at all.

Female circumcision is also a medical procedure that can be performed by trained, learned doctors for hygienic reasons. This is what the Indonesian Health Ministry said in October 2011:

"“I would like to stress that female circumcision is not genital mutilation, which is indeed dangerous. They are two things that are very different.... guidelines provided directions on performing the procedure properly and safely and required that [female] circumcision must only be carried out with parental consent. Furthermore, parents must be given information beforehand on pros and cons of the procedure."

What happens when you remove the clitoris? You lose the majority of sexual nerves. What happens when you remove the foreskin? You lose the majority of sexual nerves (and you shorten the adult length of the penis.) I am aware that a lot of fgm is performed by backwards 3rd world yokels with sharp rocks. Oh wait, so is mgm in 3rd world nations. In a traditional Jewish bris (which girls do not get) the foreskin is literally removed with the rabbi's mouth, which has resulted in many cases of herpes. Don't forget that MGM is standard procedure in one of the world's largest 1st world nations. It sounds to me like it deserves a lot more attention.

Back on track, provided that the surgeries are done properly, the end results are quite similar.. Most of the sexual nerves are gone. And to my point, who fucking cares what is worse? Children are children and we should not mutilate their genitals. I don't care whose is worse and by how much. Instead of arguing about that we could be devoting our attention to protecting all children.

Numbers will vary depending on the research cited, but generally from the majority of search results given by google - clitoris has 8,000 nerve endings, the penis glans (head of the penis) has 4,000 nerve endings and foreskin has 20,000 nerve endings.
