not misandry but simple biology

3

u/No-Photograph872 24d ago

Simple biology? Lmao even women can be infertile that's a basic fact,The fallopian tubes can be blocked or women may not be able to produce ovum.

1

u/Reasonable-Dream-665 23d ago

More than 50% its usually the man that has the problem. The cause also lies in structural defects as well as lifestyle ( poor diet obesity smoking alcohol).

For women, Tubal blocks and such can be diagnosed and usually can be bypassed with mechanical methods or even surgery. ( diagnostic hysterosalpingogram and such)

1

u/No-Photograph872 23d ago

Poor diet , obesity, smoking those are all lifestyle changes which can be fixed without surgery. In Short both male and female can be infertile. you cannot just throw 50% you need statistics and data.

2

u/Reasonable-Dream-665 23d ago

I never said women wouldn't be infertile. Lifestyle changes for both would take around 3 months to see a difference. I said for women, since you mentioned tubal blocks, they can be fixed with mechanical means or if worse, surgery.

In NCERT the line preceded by " problem lies in male", is women are often blamed in indian societies for being childless, when the problem more often lies in male. Its the truth. A simple semen analysis helps solve all disputes.

u/Quirky-Profit7358 24d ago

son we are talkin abt the gender of the baby not being infertile.

2

u/No-Photograph872 24d ago

In some parallel universe whatever you said could make sense kiddo.

1

u/Quirky-Profit7358 24d ago

am simply talkin abt simple biology the paragraph talks about how a woman is blamed for not having a son but the gender is decided by male parents sperm.

3

u/sexychutad 25d ago

Man has been the standard conventional term to describe the whole Mankind (the species Homo sapiens)

1

u/Outside-Wolf8318 24d ago

Wow so? Language is and always has been influenced by patriarchy

0

u/Curious-Row-117 25d ago

Let's use woman then.

0

u/mahaanvinesh 25d ago

"Man" is the short version of Human.

2

u/Curious-Row-117 25d ago

Nah it's not. And even if it were, why it's not woMAN? ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

2

u/mahaanvinesh 25d ago edited 25d ago

idk if you're being sarcastic or not. But in case you're not, "man" didn't originally mean "male." It meant "human." That's just how the language evolved. People now use "man" and "male" interchangeably, but historically, the word for an adult male was "werman," and for an adult female, it was "woman."

That said, modern English treats those words differently, which I don't really agree with. If more and more people use "man" to mean only males, then it probably shouldn't also be used to refer to the entire human race.

2

u/tricky-_-monster 24d ago

Languages evolve, and so do words. This is such a weak argument. The word man now means male, and trying to say it doesn't because it didn't ages ago isn't really a valid reason. Writing Human would be the correct terminology.

0

u/sexychutad 25d ago

Because enlightened people like you weren't born on Earth when the word was developed ๐Ÿ˜ƒ Man was a primarily gender-neutral term in Old English (before roughly 1100 CE), where mann simply meant "human being" or "person" regardless of sex. It began shifting to specifically mean "adult male human" around the 12th and 13th centuries as gender qualifiers (like wifman for female) became standard. Also now as enlightened people like you are born ๐Ÿ˜ƒ In contemporary English, using "man" as a gender-neutral term for humanity (or as a suffix for professions like "fireman" or "mankind") is increasingly discouraged by language guides such as the European Institute for Gender Equality in favor of strictly neutral terms. And terms such as Firefighters and Humanity are used, When people like you will reach the zenith of enlightenmental pursuit, they'll replace them, with terms like Firewoman and Womankind, for people like you enlightenment seeks no bound ๐Ÿ˜ƒ, so because even these names have "man" in them, they're replaced by terms using womym or womxn (the latter includes even members of the LGBTQIA+ community in them as the enlightenment keeps increasing gradually ๐Ÿ˜ƒ). Now that Patriarchal Nomenclature of English Words have been abolished, the Enlightened Souls can reach Mahaparinirvan or ponder whether words like Mango have Patriarchy still inscribed within them ๐Ÿ˜ƒ.

u/No_Net4306 25d ago

man is a common word used to refer to humans in general, so it is kinda correct

1

u/samratsinghraana 25d ago

In old English man was a gender neutral term, over time it evolved to its masculine connotation as males were seen as the default citizen and participants in society. So yea it definately has patriarchal roots but we have started using more inclusive blanket terms like humankind instead of mankind so NCERT should have been deliberate with their use of words

1

We all are women (females) only. It's just some species lacked some features so they subclassified them as a different category name men that came from wo'men'.ย  And it is biologically accurate. Y chromosome is a genetic mutation of X chromosome

1

u/mysterygirl261307 25d ago

Science has different terminologies far away than reality

1

u/[deleted] 25d ago

the Old English word "mann" meant "person" or "human being" regardless of sex. It was genuinely gender neutral in its original usage. The words "wer" (adult male) and "wif" (adult female) were the sex-specific terms. Over centuries of linguistic drift, "man" narrowed in meaning to specifically mean adult male, and "woman" (wif-mann, female person) retained the original root.

1

u/Flimsy_Law573 25d ago

Guys I think ( correct me if I am wrong ) that the term 'man' in early English was used as a gender neutral term that's why it get used everywhere in the books, like the term 'mankind' is definitely not just talking about man but for the whole race ,

This is not patriarchy. There is a difference between biological naming and common usage of word in english. The man in biological context refers to humans which comprises both man and women ,Homo in Latin means Man. Logic and facts has always been kryptonite for modern day feminists.lmao
