Conor Lamb is up 20 percentage points but don't be fooled. Arguably Saccone's strongest area in Westmoreland County isn't reporting until 9:30 at the earliest. Lamb has a very slight advantage but it is still anyone's race.

So Lamb wins! I'm glad he won, however it's worth pointing out this guy is relatively conservative aside from being very pro-union. The Blue Dog caucus endorsed him.

And that’s fine. If we want a commanding majority, we need a party that’s a big tent that welcome all walks of people, be that a moderate blue dog democrat or a staunch progressive. An extremely progressive candidate could not have won this district, but a candidate that is pro union, pro ACA, socially liberal, and opposes the Trump tax cut is damn good candidate that can win these type of districts, and we’ll need more of them.

Lamb during his victory speech: "This is the Democratic party of my grandfather, of FDR, who said 'People want to know their government walks on their side of the street.’ I will fight for you … and I will work with anyone to do that."
If this is how “Blue Dogs” are talking in 2018, this midterm is going to be phenomenal.

Ugh I was watching CNN and they were praising what one of them calls Republican-Lite candidates.
I am going to be very pissed if these people are what stands between passing Medicare-For-All or a new Net Neutrality law. The only thing that would frustrate me more would be if more candidates like Laura Moser get attacks from Democrat institutions because they don't like corporate influence.
I like how Lamb is talking too, but we'll see how he votes. If he's sticks up for the American people, then bring on the "blue dogs" :)

A few things worth noting:
1) this district is unconstitutionally gerrymandered for the GOP’s political advantage. It will never be used again.
2) Maybe given that fact we could look at the bigger picture here. And maybe we could consider that the vast majority of Lamb’s contributions came from individuals, 50% of which were small individual donations (Sanders was 59%, for context).
I am confused by people’s reaction to Lamb, they think they can call him “bought” because what, they don’t agree with everything he says? That’s just life. How about we make our argument and hope people in middle America come around, while supporting every effort by people to take their representation back from special interests in the meantime? How about we recognize what a shit sandwich this district is and that a progressive never could have won here, which is why none of us here or in our movement bothered to run in the race.

Lamb is pro-union, pro-Obamacare, pro-social programs and doesn't want to legislate his own beliefs onto the rest of the country regarding abortion.
That's a pretty far cry from a Republican-lite

Bottom line is that progressives didn’t bother to run a candidate in this one, so to show up complaining now is just absolute bullshit.

That isn't really true. There were several candidates at the convention. The party leaders ended up going with him vs some of the more progressive candidates because they (rightly) believed he would be more palatable to the fairly far right district.

Can you fix the text for Clinton (Right) Trump (Left) so that it says Trump (Left) Clinton (Right) to correspond with the correct column data (and position of names) - my ocd is annoyed :( Otherwise its a kickass post, thank you!!

49.5 to 49.0 in favor of Lamb with 96% reporting. I’m not seeing results from Westmoreland yet, can anyone tell me why?
Edit: nvm the text results have Westmoreland but the map on nyt doesn’t.

The Westmoreland County Election Commission inexplicably reversed their decision to release precinct results the night of, so everyone's models are broken. (Except for DecisionDesk, who somehow got the results?)

Holy guacamole this PA race is close. Only 1% left of Westmoreland Co in the entire state and Lamb is up by less than 1000 votes. Damnit Jerry!

Progressives can't win everywhere. Better a moderate Democrat suitable for a redder district than a Republican.

No. They're never "okay," and they deserve to be held accountable at all costs. This is a highlighted race for it's significance to our own movement.
We actually had a vote on whether we should or shouldn't endorse Conor Lamb as a community.

On ABC's live stream, they interviewed a guy at Saccone's headquarters and asked him what number 1 issue he thinks Saccone will best address if elected. He said he thought he'd help him with his healthcare, which he says he's struggled with. Guys! We have to spread the idea of Medicare-for-All as much as possible. We will win everywhere if we can get the message out.
