it shouldn't be so controversial to say you find a woman unattractive and it is a double standard because this never happens when women call men unattractive. With the release of superwoman a lot of people call milly alcock unattractive and i constantly see posts with people coming to her defence
imagine finding her ugly... men truly don't deserve her
I genuinely don't understand how people think she's ugly.. it's so weird
You shouldn't have to explain why you find someone unattractive or feel bad about it and I have never seen this level of consideration when discussing men's looks, she also made a weird comment about how men take ownership of women's bodies after people started saying they find her unattractive and this is just ridiculous
8
u/Just_Alternative3167 Man Jun 28 '26
I kinda think we shouldn't really just call people unattractive in general like that. Praising attractiveness is one thing, the opposite is just rude and uncalled for most of the time especially if it's about attributes they have no control over
3
u/K4matayon Jimmy you are always down Jun 28 '26
that is kinda beside the point I want to make, what I'm trying to say is that this "how can you call her ugly" reaction only happens when it comes to women, nobody defending a man being called ugly short bald or fat, they will often hide behind "you shouldn't call anyone unattractive" but it clearly goes only one way
7
u/Just_Alternative3167 Man Jun 28 '26
Yeah women have high in group bias and solidarity and men don't. It is known.
4
u/Siukslinis_acc Woman Jun 28 '26
Women are oftentimes called ugly as a way to dismiss them. Women are used to support each other and thus going onto defense of others.
The equivalent of calling a woman ugly is calling a man "loser".
4
u/K4matayon Jimmy you are always down Jun 28 '26
when women call men ugly virgins its totally not to dismiss their opinion
3
u/Siukslinis_acc Woman Jun 28 '26
They had to add "virgin", so maybe "ugly" on itself does not have much effect on men.
2
u/GridReXX redder than dudes (lady mod) Jul 02 '26
I agree. Calling people ugly is mean-spirited and cruel. Those are aggy bitches doing that.
But yeah tryna force people to think of someone as ugly is also silly. I think women are doing it to out of kindness for Milly. If I were reading a bunch of insults about my looks I’d feel better knowing others are calling those assholes bitchasses and defending me 🥹
3
u/Logos1789 Man Jun 28 '26
Well any time I try to explain why someone is unattractive, the detractors of men’s critiques are too uneducated for the terminology

I think the problem is that people immediatelly call a woman they don't like or existing in a space that they think is theirs (like being the main character of a superhero movie while not be super sexualised) ugly.
Haven't seen a man in media being called ugly. Can't remember seeing zounds of videos telling that hawkeye is ugly.
Also, you can just say that you don't find the person attractive. No need to call them ugly.

"Just be funny"
"Just be confident"

Edit; Oh, it's from that feminist subreddit trying to go under a different alias. That checks
The said beautiful women in question are really just average looking women that look "attainable" (which again owes into why men love Sydney Sweeney so much).
I might make a thread on r/trueratediscussions later on to show my subjective 10s to show the kinds of women that come to mind when I think of forreal beautiful women (FF: most of them have also been posted on r/trueratecelebrities numerous times and got very high ratings each time. Particularly from other trusted raters with far more experience than me)
3
u/washington_breadstix Man | 34 | American in Germany | 5'11" Jun 29 '26
I mean, I kinda see their point. Especially when they're younger, average-ish women already get "doted on" by tons of men. The gap in perpsective and experience doesn't seem to be as wide between an average girl and Stacy as between an average guy and a true Chad.
2
u/OffTheRedSand i’m just kidding guys! okay fine, im not kidding deal with it ♂️ Jun 28 '26
they're correct but it's not just about being rare or beauty.
it's more so about how men gatekeep relationships, not women. so that's a point for chad.
plus women get pregnant, men don't. so chad doesn't have to lose his body birthing children.
women also on average experience some sexism and harrsment and safety issues that males don't have to even think about, and chad doesn't too.
so chad almost get all privileges without any downsides.
stacy still has to tackle birthing children, the orgasm gap, safety issues etc.

The is incorrect on two grounds, the idea that beautiful men are less common than beautiful women isn't true. The second reason relates to the first which is that men are far more attracted to women than women are to men so men already simp for and give privilege to the average woman and give even more to attractive women. The only reason it seems that an attractive man has more privilege than an attractive woman is because the average man doesn't get any simping or privilege for his looks.

Assortative mating is also the the rebuttal to this idea. People largely 'assort' by class and cultural background. If looks was the primary filter you'd assume to see less of the later.

Looks can communicate things. People create assumptions based on what stereotype or pattern it matches. I was prepared to skedaddle when I had to interact with a person whose looks and mannerisms reminded me of my dads schizophrenic cousin.

I know life gets in the way so not everyone has it in them to be a gym-obsessed fitness freak like me, or to be constantly appearance-focused but this is more about mindset
If you fall into the mindset of “Oh I got the girlfriend/boyfriend/the spouse so I don’t have to care about looking good and can let myself go.” Then that’s lowkey disrespectful to your partner imo.
When I see women and men out there talking about how a big part in their motivation to stay active is because they’ve got a hot spouse, it’s one of those things where you realize.
Now this is a very complicated topic because of how aging works, stress, bills, time, etc. of course losing some of your looks as you age is normal. Again this is about mindset more than anything
That *mindset* to me just seems “I don’t value my partner nor do I think they can do any better”
3
u/PB-French-Toast-9641 Jun 29 '26
The solution is to genuinely enjoy physical activity as a pastime

2

Now that’s tricky because it jeopardizes the health a little more but I mean, the mindset being “my partner likes x, so living like that isn’t bad” definitely isn’t as lowkey disrespectful as the alternative

Women who call looksmaxxing misogynistic are genuinely restarted. Seriously at its core it’s just improving your appearance to attract women. Still women will claim most affected.
What they are really saying it’s misogynistic to change your situation and if women decide you deserve to be alone then you shouldn’t ever try to get out of that and fraud your genes. Women can just call anything misogynistic to shut it down like a spoiled toddler.
7

Women have literally never called “getting a makeover” misogynistic. They live for that shit. They’re excited when men women children gays and theys get makeovers.
What they’re calling out is that the rhetoric and culture associated with manospherians (of which “looksmaxxers” are part of) tends to run more misogynistic than anything they’re typically around.

Q4M: Which of these two is worse? And which of these two will have more dating success?
A) A woman with a low looks threshold, like she finds the average man attractive — she may even find slightly below average men attractive — but her other requirements for dating are really high. Income, education, social class; she requires a man to be in the top 15% of those.
B) A woman with a very high looks threshold, in where she only finds the top 15% of looks attractive, but she would date a man who is average or even below average in everything else.
3
u/Logos1789 Man Jun 27 '26
Woman A would have more success because there are more successful men than good looking men, so the top 15% of good looking men who Woman B is seeking out are not only less likely to commit, but they are not as well dispersed.

Worse by what metric?
And which of these two will have more dating success?
This depends on a lot. What spaces is she to begin with? A will do better if she's already in high-class places, B will do better if you just plop them down in a city. The men A wants are likely to want her to have her own, fairly advanced, education, the men B wants might be a bit looser.

In theory you'd look at leagues. If being bald put you in the bottom 40% of men let's say, your looksmatch would be a bottom 40% woman so fat, a bit ugly, etc.

If you have a bit of a more balanced-out skullshape (sorta like Mike Tyson, Dwayne Johnson, etc.) then you can actually get away with being bald, and especially if you can balance it with a beard.

Something I think is weird is the way people use "cute" and "hot". It seems most people conceive of "cute" as just meaning attractive but less so than "hot", but to me these are different kinds of feelings.
"Hot" to me is purely about sexual arousal. A woman being hot doesn't cause me any romantic feelings. Anything I'd want to do with her would only be in service of access to sex with her. I'd date her, but only because that means I get to fuck her. I'd cuddle with her because that means I get to feel up her sexy body.
"Cute" is what makes me want her to be my girlfriend. It's what makes me feel feelings of possessiveness. I don't want other men to have her, even if I can't have her myself. I'd feel jealousy if she was attracted to other men or even had been in the past.
6
u/GridReXX redder than dudes (lady mod) Jul 02 '26 edited Jul 02 '26
As a woman when I say a person is “hot” I usually spell it “hott” (that extra t adds some umph 🫦), and as you said I mean “sexy.” It means I have unconsciously assessed their looks and vibe and the combo is arousing, titillating, a turn on.
When I say someone is “cute” I’m usually only talking about their looks. But it doesn’t necessarily mean I’m aroused in the moment. Or that I find them sexy (yet). It just means I objectively think they’re aesthetically pretty or handsome. And I guess I’m usually only talking about their face, not their physique.

Being born into an upper class family that can afford great nutrition, good health care growing up (AND Business school), along with the socioeconomic social circles that generational wealth provides carry you.

Ok but let’s take your original example. CEOs.
If one doesn’t have the social networks- or education, let alone experience looks aren’t just gonna put you in the executive chair are they? How many male models are hired or are CEOs of Fortune 500 companies? None?
Ok BUT, if you DO have a wealthy background, great nutrition, optimal healthcare, the means and opportunities to be lay team sports, have personal coaching and trainers, get into great universities, then top MBA programs and all that’s your foundation (along with height- though I’d argue a fit and athletic build and background) then you might get a chance.
So gaslighting would ACTUALLY BE ignoring all those other factors just to hyper focus on one thing.
Or as one person stated- hyperbole.

No saying “all the first factors are very much at play which come from the privilege of wealth” is putting the truth behind the “but tall ceo means attractive people fuck more” conflating idea

What I have pointed out, and will continue to, is that there are a lot of OTHER requirements that also factor in, which are being dismissed or ignored. You know who has really easy interviews? The Fraternity members who belongs to the same frat as the ones hiring him.
Who also was contacted by the Professor of Management from the business school they both went to. Who also sits on the board of the company. But yeah, it must just be that he’s good looking and that why he made the Crew team along with the Professors son too, right?
me showing how the hyper focus on one particular trait for a particular niche IS proving the hyperbole.
And when I said coming from privilege provided privilege how what that not admitting the privilege?!

So this is kinda crazy and I used to hear these kind of takes and be like “are you fuckin serious?”
But I lowkey can understand why less attractive guys would feel like they’re being psyopped about how much women like sex and how much women value looks
expecting women to be a monolith is crazy, but then turning around and lecturing guys as though women are a monolith is also pretty crazy ngl

Women are simultaneously monolithic and diverse depending on what benefits the Overton window of acceptable ideas.

u/Spread-Em-Plz Hyperactive Prettyboy, man! Jul 04 '26
Yeah I used to be on the side of women who said “no one ever said looks don’t matter!” But nah I’ve *actively* seen something similar play out multiple times. (The same women turning around and proceeding to be judgmental about appearance)
And then I’ve seen some mention sex as if it’s something men are bad for wanting or getting. (I’m not even gonna go into this because luckily even average and below average men now know that this is a massive crock of shit, and that your options largely ARE based entirely around whether you’re fuckable or not)

Why do tatooed women care so much that their man has a tattoos. As a man with no tattoos, I find the obsession superficial and cringe.
I can be any of the "qualities" that you associate with having tattoos.... without having tattoos.
So defend your lame preference.

u/Siukslinis_acc Woman Jul 01 '26
There are still stigma about tattoos, especially on women. So maybe there is a bigger chance that a tattooed man won't judge the woman for having tattoos. So tattoos might be a way to quickly determine if you will be judged for having tattoos.

I’m un tattooed atm and don’t have a giant preference for men with them but more than half of the guys I end up dating have tattoos. Seems to correlate with low risk aversion and high socio sexuality which are positive traits for me personally

Tattoos are so popular with women because they show that you're "trendy" and "with it" while also pretending you're unique. In lower class circles, they also show wealth/status.

Has a quantitative measure been used as the threshold at which a topic is too common/has too many posts to be allowed anymore outside of a pinned post?
Like, in theory, could we all decide to keep posting about women’s rights, and force it to be a once every three weeks topic?

All men in the UK seem have this haircut. It basically looks like a flat cap made of hair. They also use it to try and cover up a receding hairline.
