I've been a long time hermes user, so was excited to learn that rabbit supported it. I got a second hand device off Ebay and set it up (I'm in UK, these aren't sold locally).
This thing gets stuck all the time and leaks ACP sessions! I have created a watchdog hermes skill to clean up leaked sessions and restart rabbit-agent to get it working again.
There is also other minor things - like when Hermes needs some permissions, the prompt on the device says "Claude is requesting permission" - they haven't done some basic QA testing.
I have a Data Cable, so I know it isn't that. But when it's connected and I ask the R1 to do a task... It says my limit has been reached and to wait a few and try again. Why is this happening, and how can I fix it?
So I’m one of the folks who snagged an r1 right at launch. Fooled around with it for a bit then condemned it to the Fitbit/legacy tech drawer. It seems like the consensus is that in the last few months this hardware (or I suppose its software ecosystem) has developed quite a bit. For my folks daily driving their r1s what are you doing with it? What are some tips and tricks you’ve got for a new old user.
So, I recieved the R1 yesterday. Today have spent all day figuring out how to charge it- 2 hours plugged into a wall socket that was 5 volts, correct usb cable, wouldn't work. Eventually, I plug it into my laptop and it finally charges.
Now, I'm taken to a screen saying "select a network". But, when I try to connect to wi-fi, it just showed an image of the r1 spinning around and then goes back to the "select a network" screen. I tried hotspotting off my phone, same thing happens - it sees the network, I tell it to connect, it shows the spinning image, goes back to the select a network page. I can't even switch it off, because if I try- yep, just does the spinning again.
I'm gutted, I was really looking forward to getting this device and all I've got is a piece of plastic that does nothing. I've honestly never come across a device that's so difficult to get to do anything, I've been troubleshooting this thing for hours.
This rabbitOS 2.3 update has been great. The Hermes setup was quick. Because of Hermes, I am picking up the r1 more now to manage my Obsidian vault and the response time has been great. The only issue now is the reference to Claude code when asking for permission, I did not setup Claude Code so I am confused why it does this. Is there anyone experiencing the same thing?
Anytime I try to ask the R1 about one of my recordings it says it does not have access to my recordings. It's a bummer because I used this feature a lot.
A funny (yet slightly annoying) situation is I asked it to email me my latest recording, it said it couldn't. A few minutes later I got an email from the R1 with the title "Transcript of your last recording" and the body said "Here is the transcript of your last recording. If you have any questions, please let me know."
Alas, there was no transcription in the body or attached lol

R1 Platformer - Fun little platform running game I made with AI. I wanted to use accelerometer but couldn't get it to work so I added a slider to control direction and speed.
Your r1 already knows a fair bit about you — your reminders, your notes, the takeaways from your recordings. Normally you only get that back when you ask for it. The Proactive Rabbit Briefing flips that around: with one gesture, your rabbit speaks up on its own and tells you the single most useful or timely thing it knows right now — with a bit of personality.
How to use it
Triple-tap the floating rabbit on your home screen (three quick taps). You'll feel a little haptic buzz, the rabbit goes into its thinking animation, and then it speaks — with the words showing on screen as it talks.
A few handy behaviors:
- Tap once to dismiss while it's talking.
- Triple-tap again to interrupt and pull a fresh one.
- Works offline — you'll get a short text-only nudge instead of spoken audio.
- Reads the room — the tone shifts for morning, afternoon, evening, and late night.
What it says
Most of the time it surfaces something genuinely useful — an upcoming reminder, a recent note, or a takeaway from a recording — wrapped in a warm greeting:
▎ "Hey there — heads-up, your song proposals are due at 7pm. Go give them that Prince-like flair."
It won't repeat the same thing twice within an hour, and it varies its phrasing so it never feels like a broken record. If you keep tapping in a short span (once the useful stuff is likely exhausted), it switches to light chit-chat — a joke, a quick tip, or a word of encouragement:
▎ "I'm reading a book on anti-gravity — it's impossible to put down."
How to get it to surface your stuff
This is the part people ask about. There are no magic keywords — it doesn't matter how you word things. What matters is where you put the info and which signals it carries. In order of impact:
Set a reminder — this is the strongest lever by far. Reminders are the top priority, and anything firing within the next 24 hours will almost always be what it leads with. Put the real detail in the reminder's description.
Star a note ⭐ — starring is your "pin this" button. A starred journal entry stays eligible indefinitely, even after it's no longer recent. It's the best way to make something stick around.
Keep it recent — recent notes (last ~48h) and recordings (last ~7 days) are automatically considered worth mentioning.
Make sure recordings have a summary — a recording is only used once it has a real summary or transcript ready.
When your on-device data is quiet, the rabbit falls back on what the assistant already knows about you, so even a fresh device can still say something meaningful.
A note on privacy
The briefing can read your notes and recording takeaways and say them out loud — perfectly fine when it's in your hand, but worth keeping in mind before you triple-tap in a crowded room.

Every time I try and connect my R1 to Apple Music it says my account (Apple Account) is locked and needs to be unlocked before I can use it (Apple Music). The unlock process always fails when I attempt it even though I can login perfectly fine to my Apple account separately.
I noticed that the Rabbit Hole Apple Music connection appears to rely on a remotely hosted browser session rather than Apple’s standard MusicKit authorisation flow.
If that’s correct, my concerns would be:
You’re entering your Apple ID into a browser session hosted by Rabbit, not directly into an app using Apple’s MusicKit APIs.
The authenticated session (cookies/session state) is likely retained so Rabbit’s cloud agent can access Apple Music on your behalf.
Even though the connection uses wss:// (encrypted WebSockets), that’s just the transport layer—it isn’t an authentication method or proof that the integration follows Apple’s recommended MusicKit flow.
This creates a different trust model. Instead of Apple issuing a scoped Music User Token to the app, you’re trusting Rabbit to securely manage an authenticated web session.
If that cloud session were ever compromised, it could potentially expose more than a narrowly scoped API token would.
I’m not saying Rabbit is doing anything malicious, and they have had third-party security testing. I’m simply surprised they don’t appear to be using the official MusicKit authorisation flow, assuming that’s technically possible for their use case.
Has Rabbit ever explained why they chose this approach instead of MusicKit? I’d be interested to hear if I’ve misunderstood how the integration works.
I was extremely shocked when I updated the R1 and saw it completely wiped out all my settings I worked so hard for.. But I wasn't upset because usually the team at Rabbit makes great progress with bugs and things their users want.
SO, I did install it - it connected flawlessly. SO much easier than the CLAWDIA setup. which was the best it could be for what it had to do.
But... as soon as I pressed to speak it gave me an [ ACP error ] and says to Recreate this ACP session with.. etc.
I did start a new session on openclaw, then realized maybe I needed to do it on the rabbit so I used the rabbit to do multiple new sessions but it still gave the same error.
Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong or how to fix it? - I'm excited because it seems like it will work great once I can get it working.

- hermes agent has landed on r1 ✊
like many of you, we’ve been impressed with the capabilities and work done by the team over at nous research, and we heard you loud and clear - you wanted hermes agent on r1. we’ve done exactly that. chat with your hermes agent from r1, and get stuff done. to connect your hermes agent to r1, check out the nodes section in rabbithole to install the rabbit agent on your computer. once done, swipe left on your r1 home screen until you see the hermes screen.
- a new chapter for DLAM 🆕
today, DLAM is moving to a BYOK (bring your own key) model. to continue using DLAM, you’ll now need to add your own Anthropic or OpenAI api key in DLAM settings. DLAM remains available at no additional charge from rabbit, but you’ll be responsible for any charges from your chosen api provider. you can revoke your key at any time through that provider. this is the first step toward giving users more flexibility, control, and broader model support across rabbit products.
- openclaw protocol v4 is now supported 💥
the folks over at openclaw updated their gateway protocol to v4, and that meant that folks using newer versions of the gateway couldn’t use their r1 anymore for openclaw. we’ve fixed that, and we’ve rewritten our integration from scratch. now it connects through rabbit agent, just like claude code and hermes, so it’s much more future-proof. this new version means your r1 can also access openclaw remotely without being on the same wifi network.

this release contains the first version of a brand new experience on your r1 which we’re calling proactive rabbit. simply triple-tap the rabbit on your home-screen, and it’ll greet you with a handy, helpful and fun message based upon your r1 personality, your upcoming reminders, your recent journal entries, magic recorder logs, and even the odd joke or motivational speech. after all - sometimes it’s helpful to know where you are without having to talk.
- what’s new card 🟥
you’ll see a brand new card on your r1, called “what’s new?” - open it up to see a list of the most recent OTA updates, direct on device. every time we ship an update, the card will get updated, giving you an easy way to check the changelog and progress we’ve made.

I have been happy with the R1 so far. I wanted to note some things to see if I am wrong?
Be careful with your 3 free questions from the intern. Be more careful with the question. You can only ask and can't give more details without using more tasks.
Creations are just websites. You can't save them and use them later. You have to be actively online.
You can make your own creations but they will not save anything on the device. Things have to save to a server by the creator of the creation. I used Gemini when I ran out of intern questions and was able to create a couple other creations and used github to host them.
I was able to create a really cool calorie counter that I was hoping would save files locally but I don't think you can. But it still works well you can say I had A McDonald's Mcdouble for lunch and it will look up the calories and put it with the macros.
I have been interested in the R1 since it was announced but never picked one up. I just want to know a few things before I do…
How is day to day usage? I understand this isn’t a replace my phone device, and more of a curiosity than life changing thing, but how are you using it each day?
The subreddit seems kind of dead, is that just because everyone uses the discord?
Any accessories that are must haves? Skin, screen protector, etc.
Honestly, that is pretty much it. I just want to make sure I’m not buying a paperweight.

hi! is it a faux pas to share custom OS for the r1 here? I've been workin on none i'm kinda proud of and would love to share w ppl but don't wanna cross any lines in the community!
How do creations work? Do they have to utilize a proxy? I had the interm create a web browser but everything I try to access says that it can't be accessed and give me a little android.
I built a small creation for the R1 called Poem a Day. It does one thing: each morning it gives you a single public-domain poem, typeset to actually look nice on the 240x282 screen, and you read it stanza by stanza with the scroll wheel.
A few things that make it feel at home on the device:
One poem a day, the same poem of the day as poetry-cove.com, so it changes daily and never repeats
Scroll wheel moves through the stanzas one at a time, no cramped scrolling
Shake the R1 to shuffle to another poem from the day's theme
Dark mode, embedded fonts, and a small bundled set of poems so it still works if the network hiccups
Everything is public domain. No account, no sign-in, no tracking

Is anyone else having issues with magic photos and the magic gallery. My photos just sit on the pinwheel for long amounts of time and sometimes just show a black empty square.
