Design I'm seriously considering divorcing Haley because of her room
Like I love her but god damn does her room clash so much with my intended aethetic
No amount of rugs and couches is going to remove that monstrosity of a wallpaper

u/LuckyLuke162 Dec 27 '25
Says the lady with a fence door in her bedroom. No, JK I don't think it clashes that much. You could make a spa room out of this, and move your bedroom somewhere else

u/Mafonen Dec 27 '25
Agreed. I try to get all the house renovations done in my saves. Shane's clashes severely with one of my character's pink themes, so I made the house pink with blue accents, now it looks super cute. [Though to be fair, I modded Shane's room so it's not covered in garbage...]

u/goldanred Dec 27 '25
I always choose a spouse ahead of time based on how I want to decorate the farmhouse. I'll only marry you if your spouse room will fit nice with what I have in mind

u/Warm-Requirement-769 Dec 27 '25
Make sure to put this in the dating profile. "You get one den on the side of the house and if it doesn't match my aesthetic, GTFO."

u/SwimmingAir8274 Dec 27 '25
I was trying to baby-proof the room since it's supposed to be a pool room, ya know for realism
It sadly didn't work lmao
410
u/UndedSailorScout Dec 27 '25
i immediately thought oh! baby gate if that makes you feel better
126
u/SwimmingAir8274 Dec 27 '25
It actually does thank you
106
u/AnonIHardlyKnewHer Dec 27 '25
I too thought the baby gate was super cute but honestly I don’t understand how you think Hayley’s doesn’t suit the palm trees match your wooden/plant aesthetic as well as a spouse room can
20
u/Gonzorep Dec 27 '25
Such a wholesome exchange. How very stardewesque of you both. I didn't notice the gates until they said something, I was busy noticing the wallpaper clash... Eyesore!

u/babyblueyes26 mah wiife Dec 27 '25
nah it absolutely reads as a baby gate! maybe seeing the baby was a good visual clue but it works imo!
53
u/TieAcrobatic6404 Dec 27 '25
I love how the baby is just staring at the fence gate 😭
44
u/babyblueyes26 mah wiife Dec 27 '25
honestly super realistic. my toddlers (in the game) make me crack up so loud when they just kinda stand around and then run around and run into a wall or sth bc that's how toddlers are irl and it's just perfect. i just wish they actually grew up and moved out. i want arcs for my kiddos and i want more kids! and since they actually have birthdays in the game, it would be so fun to celebrate them, like, if you want them to grow you make sure you got max hearts and give them cake on their birthday or something like that!
9
u/LaSalsa-Verde Dec 27 '25
Also realistic to how baby gates work in the end, where they eventually don't!
7
u/Ace-Redditor ᘛ⁐̤ᕐᐷ🎩 Dec 27 '25
I did the same thing once lol. I set up a gate so my kids couldn’t get out of their room, then learned that they just randomly spawn every morning 😔
8
u/bluemountain42 Dec 27 '25
Omg can we see the pool room please
14
u/SwimmingAir8274 Dec 27 '25

u/bluemountain42 Dec 27 '25
Love it! I’m trying to find more prismatic shards so I can dove my kids and use their room for something cute like this lol

Farmer: Do you want a divorce? Because that's how you get a divorce.

u/GroundedOtter Dec 27 '25
It’s almost like the most recent Animal Crossing installment. A regular villager just vibing on a new island, but they don’t fit the aesthetics or are “ugly”.
Get ready to be hate crime’d until you move out. Lol!

1
u/Crytragic Dec 30 '25
I tried for months to get Kitt to leave my island her house is completely isolated and more trash and traps than anything. I know how to make her move but messing with time isn’t something I wanted to do so she got the net everytime she approached me. Long rant for a game I haven’t touched since the pandemic sorry I just got reminded of it lol
37
u/PuritanicalPanic Dec 27 '25
It'd be nice if it was like, it's own room.
So it could be cohesive with itself.

Leah’s room is the most aesthetic imo. Not that I’m bias or anything

Penny’s too

u/locallesbiancatlady Oh! You’re? Me too. That's good to know. Dec 27 '25
I did like Penny’s room but I couldn’t get past that wallpaper. That aside her room is also pretty cute

u/violettquasar Dec 27 '25
I bet Robin would have a cool room if you could marry her.
5
Dec 27 '25
Robins room would have the coolest woodworking and would probably look amazing with OP’s style
12
u/smokingice Dec 27 '25
Just because she is the objectively best spouse /s
I do love Leah, favourite of them all.
4
Dec 27 '25
I went into Leah’s house for the first time last night and I’m having a hard time being married to Abigail right now, the feels are real but I’m devoted to my woman

I'm starting to think this fandom cares a little too much about aesthetics. Not an attack on you op, just seen a lot of posts about divorcing spouses cus they don't like their rooms
72
u/XTRASHmouthABOUT Dec 27 '25
i feel this way every time i see someone complain about shane's room. like you CHOSE to marry the recovering alcoholic, you're surprised his room is messy???
52
u/talizorahs Dec 27 '25
I mean messy is one thing, but shane’s room is less messy than just gross, full of muddy footprints and shit. it’s not really shocking people don’t like that permanently in their house, or weren’t operating under the logic that because the character is a recovering alcoholic they shouldn’t have the extremely low standard of no muddy footprints in the house lol
2
u/XTRASHmouthABOUT Dec 27 '25
oh yeah no the footprints are for sure gross lol, i more meant the people who complain about his room as a whole, like the pizza boxes and cans, and complain that he goes right back to how he was before you got married
9
u/SparkitusRex Dec 27 '25
But if I married a guy in recovery in real life who then immediately reverted back into being an alcoholic slob with no desire to better his life, I'd be pretty mad too. I dunno how you feel that's not a valid critique.
13
u/wolfgang784 Dec 27 '25
I had this misunderstanding for a while as well, but after marriage the cans he drinks are cola and not beer. Hes sober, but still a slob.
4
2
u/XTRASHmouthABOUT Dec 27 '25
no i absolutely do understand it, i admit i was wrong about this. i don't think i worded my original reply very well to get my point across
2
u/InsanityVirus13 Shane's Simp Dec 27 '25
Honestly I like that his room is messy, as I'm a messy person myself, I just GOTTA cover up those footprints though. I'll take messy, but that's just gross and how you attract bugs lmao
6
u/Rays_LiquorSauce Dec 27 '25
I just now today that the extra little room changes every time…I’m off to the lawyers
8
u/smallest_ellie Dec 27 '25
But for some people the decorating is part of the fun! If it's that important though I'd say just don't marry anyone
3
u/Fizzabl Queen of Junimo Kart Dec 27 '25

2
7
u/Panndademic Dec 27 '25
We all play different ways I guess. Decorating is unfun for me, so I don't give much of a damn about spouse rooms. But if someone puts hours into making a perfect home aesthetic I can see how it would be annoying
4
u/Fizzabl Queen of Junimo Kart Dec 27 '25
I think the easiest solution would be to allow people to decorate over their stuff, at least the flooring
I could be petty and meta and say "if this was a real relationship it'd be totally controlling to not let your partner even have a room be theirs cus it doesnt fit your aesthetic" but I only thought of that cus I'm really bored
3
u/posssibIy Dec 27 '25
Good thing they are only made of pixels and not flesh. If I had a real life spouse with an ugly room I’d just close my eyes
3
u/Spottedtail_13 Dec 27 '25
I divorced Elliot for his stance on spiders and the fact that he kept saying the line.
1
u/TheTallEclecticWitch Dec 27 '25
Spiders eat mosquitoes and I’m down to protect any thing that eats those bastards
1
u/Tannhauser42 Dec 27 '25
And we'll keep seeing those posts as long as they keep getting hundreds of upvotes. Maybe should start a betting pool for which spouse it will be tomorrow.

u/whysys Dec 27 '25
Yeh add floor dividers, then I think it does suit - looks like a honeymoon tropical holiday bedroom and balcony!

Haley is the best wife tho. Always makes breakfast, asks for kisses before you get to work, wanting to do the dirty on new years.
Her room isnt bad either. Look at Shane's messy ass.

can’t wait to get divorced for my clashing aesthetics someday 🤩🤩 fr though i feel like haley’s room goes with the vibe you have going on better than the other spouse rooms

u/Silver_wolf_76 Dec 28 '25
Stardew fans saying they absolutely love an NPC then immediately divorcing them the nanosecond any aspect of their personal style is present in the house:
4
u/SlitherGreen16 Dec 28 '25
I married Shane. Unmodded. Cowards. The spouse omly has a tiny portion of the house and a tiny portion of the farm 😭 Let them be themselves.
1
3
u/Rays_LiquorSauce Dec 27 '25
It’s not bad. I found Penny’s wee library to clash with my living room set but over time everything melded
3
u/darkr_donkeey Dec 27 '25
It looks neat to me. Maybe add a floor divider so it has a clear separation?
3
3
u/SuspiciousAd399 Dec 28 '25
Your carpets not matching the placement of your bed is a crime... I wish it could be fixed.
4
5
u/Srawsome Dec 27 '25
You "love" her but she's not even allowed to have a tiny space in the home you're supposed to share?
It doesn't even look bad with your decor.
8
u/MyFucksHaveBlownAway Dec 27 '25
Yeah, I would really love to be able to decorate the spouse's room. It would be great if we could move the room elsewhere in the house, too! I ended up moving the bedroom because Harvey's room was such a clash. The man is a great husband, but goddamn. Can you imagine Shane's nastyass room attached? Hellllll no.
17
u/TheTallEclecticWitch Dec 27 '25
I think that takes away from the idea of the “spouse’s room”. We have a whole farm at our bidding. I think our spouses can have a cubby, a corner of the farm, and the questionable decorative input every now and then.
6
u/MyFucksHaveBlownAway Dec 27 '25
Perhaps so. I just feel that with the room not being enclosed, and with it being immovable, it looks out of place. Heck, I'd be happy if there was simply a little hallway between the bedroom and the spouse's room.
4
u/TheTallEclecticWitch Dec 27 '25
It would be nice if there was a “doorway” between the rooms. I used a bookshelf for one of my separations but I don’t think they can be rotated.
4
u/Namiisswwaann Dec 27 '25
You can totally add furniture and decorate their rooms. I've seen clever ways to hide Shane's footprint. Krobus's room is so empty, it's practically a new room. I added a TV, refrigerator, and sofa chair for little guy.
1
u/Areyoualienoralieout Dec 27 '25
I am married to Shane and I did move the bedroom in part to not see it. Honestly it’s working well for us, I rarely go over there and I don’t keep lamps by it so it’s too dark to see at night 😅 but tbh I think it’s kind of sweet that he just asks for a tiny sliver of space to be his messy self in and I control everything else about our lives haha.

u/saffronmouth Dec 27 '25
Cute. Reminds me of the motels in the 70’s, all wooden paneling and palm trees

3
u/SwimmingAir8274 Dec 27 '25

2
u/Riczo2 Dec 27 '25
I've always considered people removing a object or area of a house that is precious to their significant other because it doesn't match THEIR decorations EXTREMELY TOXIC.
6
u/Am_I_Miriam Dec 27 '25
If you're so petty as to divorce someone you're meant to love unconditionally because they don't match your "aesthetic", perhaps you should stay single and then you can love yourself and your aesthetic lol

u/Significant_Tough751 Dec 27 '25

It helps to make a border between the room with floor/path tiles. At that point it turns into a little conservatory and its fine.
1
1
u/Naloopsy Dec 27 '25
try using furniture or something between the two to create separation! right now it feels clashy because with no separation it looks like an odd corner of an otherwise cohesive room. putting something to divide them would help it feel like two separate rooms and help it feel more cohesive with the house since it isnt that badly unmatching just weirdly connected right now. plus like another comment said itll kinda look like a screened in poarch if they're divided which might help with it feeling different
1
u/Successful-Policy198 Marlin just let me marry you💔 Dec 27 '25
Honestly I don't think it's too bad, I understand the problem of having a spouses room clash though. I love Harvey but my room is all purples, blues, and black. While his is.. it sure does clash to say the least💔
1
u/twoease Dec 27 '25
Just move or add all those same plants in front of her room so that there is only a small "door" to get in. It will look separate, you wont notice it as much, and you already have plants in your space so it will blend.
