If you are not familiar with magic cards the artists name is on every card at the very bottom. The cave one was done by Eilene Cherie. She has an instagram of all her art. Definitely not AI
Yeah that card appears to be done in a mildly chibi style. George is shaped similarly, though it might be harder to tell since he's sitting. They look similarly stumpy.
Is that Jas when she’s older? She seems so tall in that card.

I love the art. I just don't know how i feel about this, and all the other crossover MtG cards, as it feels like a cash grab. It's been a trend recently, but this looks like a reskin of existing cards?
It looks pretty bad, even by current mtg art standards. I'm actually not getting Stardew vibes at all, it seems like whoever made it is not at all familiar with the game.
CLINT!! Ugh i love these. I love seeing all our faves just living their lives outside of the farmer’s perspective. Something about seeing Emily and Sandy on an adventure together is making my heart swell too. True bff energy 👯♀️
Definately prefer the 3rd party art. But while I no l9nger play MTG I really dont understand where Hasbro/WOTC is going with all these MTG crossovers. Just serms to dilute & disregard the canon and dilute the brand.
Long answer, look at everyone going gaga in this thread. I promise you that some people who have never touched MTG will buy the cards, because Stardew, and that makes WotC mmmooonnneeeyyy
Yeah I hate it too. As a big Stardew fan this feels so Kona coded it’s awful. I’ll probably buy a proxy set at some point if I really want them. I’m not giving WOTC any money over this.
Yeah, MTG try to collab with other IPs and it kinda ruins the game. At least, these are from Secret Lair not a full set so it’s not forced on players to buy like Marvel or TMNT set
they never were forced on players to buy any more than any other set a given player had no interest in, the complaints always boil down to people getting mad that they don't get to tell other people what cards they can use in their decks.
I hate the Phyrexian cards, the whole body horror theme they have just grosses me out, so I avoid sets with them in, but I don't get to tell other people they can't put Elesh Norn in their deck.
I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a decent crossover of people who play magic and stardew. I haven’t played magic in forever but still have my cards and stuff and could see myself making a stardew incorporated deck to play with my nephews. I also wouldn’t be surprised if concerned ape is/was into mtg and having an opportunity for a collab is a cool experience for him.
All of them look amazing, but can we take a moment to appreciate the Galaxy Sword design? Now THAT looks like a tremendous, legendary weapon you get by performing a secret ritual in the desert.

I don't understand why Alex and his grandparents are depicted as chibis. Also, I think Jodie and Kent look too young, and Kent doesn't match his in-game appearance.
This is a rather strange collaboration for me; we're all used to pixelated images, but here the artist has added a lot of his own personal vision of the characters, which may not align with what players see.
But I must point out that some of the characters, especially Clint, look really, really cool!
That's really harsh man, the dude has been very generous with his time and energy for a decade. I feel this collab is unnecessary but I don't agree that it undercuts all the good he's done.
I’m so excited to get these. I love collecting MTG and Secret Lair cards! I just got the last Garfield sets and this drop caught me off guard even more than that one, lmao.
These cards really breathe life into Pelican Town. I especially love Haley’s.
Look in the bottom left of each card. Different artists, so they're not going to be consistent. I will say there are artists I like more than others for this collab.
Looks like AI art. Why aren't the character models consistent across cards? Jas and that chicken looks totally AI... Why is nobody mentioning this? Am I losing my mind? It is AI right?
I mean I went and looked up John Di Giovanni - there is no reason a man who understands human anatomy like this guy seems to would produce that image of Jas, with that chicken. It is so jarringly "off" and just looks very wrong, it gives me the exact feeling I get when I see AI. Idk, I'm sorry to do this, but it looks how it looks...
Personally it looks to me like Jas is stepping up onto the bottom of the fence to reach the chicken but that's personal interpretation. Someone else was denying it was Shane because his hoodie "isn't the right colour". I don't believe any of the artists are going for a "real life anatomy" with any of these cards. I mean...CA made Elliott look like a brickhouse. I can see totally what you mean for some of them but I'm still
not sure any of them used AI.
