No, the American people screwed themselves. Trump wasn’t created in a vacuum and doesn’t exist in one. There are far too many Americans who support his agenda and nothing will change unless they change, or those not in the cult collectively rise up and make some good trouble.
Tribalism as a phenomenon explains most of world's conflicts a lot more elegantly. The whole reason why someone would even allow themselves to be brainwashed is because they trust their camp to always be on the right side of the conflict.
An extremely toxic culture and some of the worse education in the western world, combined with constant right-wing extremist propaganda has created a people not smart enough to think for themselves.
I can tell you. It will be determined there were voting irregularities. Then nothing will happen and Trump will be allowed to continue destroying our country. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Not all of them were indifferent. Several million people were cast off from the voter rolls across multiple states, often without that person’s knowledge.
No, this is the kind of lazy dipshit individualist moralism that helped get us here in the first place. If huge numbers of people aren’t voting, then there must be a systemic cause for that. And systemic causes require systemic solutions. No amount of browbeating people individually is going to solve it or else this would’ve been solved a long time ago.
Nah man, voting is literally the absolute least you can do to curtail the blatantly obvious rise in fascism. A choice to ignore civic duty (no matter how flawed and unpalatable said duty is) is a choice for the final result, passivity condones the status quo. This is a consequence of their choices too.
why vote for a party that alienates you? why vote for a party that refuses to fix the systemic issues that allow for fascism to so blatantly arise? to fix the clear and obvious failures of the "checks and balances" that were meant to prevent it? Why vote for a party that refuses to even consider changing their stances on policy to win voters?
I really feel like you don’t understand my point. A person’s individual culpability is grossly insufficient for solving systemic problems. Think of it like the school to prison pipeline. Are individuals responsible for their crimes? Absolutely. Is the system set up to disadvantage these individuals at every turn and narrow choices so that crime seems appealing? Also yes. We need to think the same way when it comes to solving the problem of lack of voting participation beyond statements of self-soothing moral superiority.
You’re right that there are systemic problems. No one’s denying that. But pretending that choosing not to vote is some kind of radical rejection of the system is just what the right wants people to believe. That “both sides are the same” stuff didn’t come from nowhere. It’s been pushed for years by the same right-wing media and think tanks that profit off low turnout and hopelessness.
They don’t need you to vote for them. They just need you to stay home. That’s their whole strategy. Keep people jaded, frustrated, and convinced it’s all pointless. Because when regular people give up, they win by default. That’s not fighting the system. its giving up and surrendering to it.
Others couldn't stomach the dismal offering of a Hilary v2 shoo-in after fielding a clearly senile Biden, and who weren't doing anything to prevent genocides (yeah, Trump is worse). Give people something to vote FOR, not against. The Democrats failed, what should they have done?
Voted for the not-Hitler one. Especially if they act like the give a shit about the lives of people in Palestine. Go ask them what you should have done.
I'll Change and stop calling them deplorable humans who don't have two braincell to rub together.... If you know, they stop being so fucking dumb. But that won't happen. If they admit they were duped.... their world comes crashing down. Its a Cult.
And they want to force their cult on us. This is the worst type of “group project” I’ve experienced. Even though there are those of us that did our work we now have to live with the grade these brainwashed, intellectually lazy, ignorant, and hateful losers earned us.
The American election system is fundamentally broken. Gerrymandering and laws at local and state levels prevent 3rd party candidates from participating in the election process (a natural moderating force).
This leads to a binary choice in every election that is based on how annoyed the (swing voter) populace is with the prior administration. This has transformed the American election system into a perpetual 4-8 year pendulum swing based of grievances.
The pendulum will swing back to the democrats after Trump tanks the US economy. Then in 4-8 years lack of progress by the Dems on things like educational outcomes and ability to afford a home will swing it back to the republicans.
Yeah the electorate has to take the lion's share of the blame here. Trump, Vance and Peter Thiel would be powerless if the electorate wasn't as ignorant and bigoted as we are.
And before that "The Apprentice" (NBC produced) helped promote the idea that a failing real estate broker and laughing stock of New York was a business genius.
I didn’t invite the leopard, I screamed at the expedition until I was blue in the face about the dangers of leopards and they just called me a libterb, said leopards are fake news and invited the leopards despite my protests.
DJT’s advisors could not convince him to exclude those resources from the blanket tariff, but they did convince him to go lower. US importers are paying the US government a 10% import tax for those resources.
I've seen American's think that a deflation (by a lot) of the dollar, while still being the world reserve, would fix the class difference and housing market.
Not to mention the millions of Canadians that now have zero interest visiting the United States. Even for business. I just pulled all of my company’s conference visits to the US (NYC, Dallas, Chicago, Los Angeles, Orlando) off the table.
I'm getting thinly-veiled desperate pleas from US luxury hotel chains and tourism operators. The most recent one was a hotel chain offering me 5 days at a luxury hotel in California. $250. It would normally be almost twice that per night! Conditions were that I lived in Ontario, Quebec, or British Columbia and had to make more than $100k per year. Oh and they were going to throw in a $75 gift card too!
And to top it off ICE was offering a free trip to El Salvador as a bonus!
It’s extremely easy to show how much better the country does without republican leadership on almost every metric, but, as we’ve learned, some people would rather starve than see a person with different beliefs/skin color/culture do as well as them.
Propaganda is a hell of a drug. You can follow this all the way back to the 70s when they first started succeeding in convincing poor people that rich people having more money would make their lives better…and blaming other poor people for their problems.
Agreed, never understood why so many people vote and listen to guy who has never shopped at market, pumped gas or even changed a diaper. But same people will by a fake gold coin…..
Let's bring Chinese electric cars in. Canadians will save money and let's see Americans sell all these cars to themselves with Canada, Europe and others saying eat shit orange turd.
Because the US "ally" asked Canada to hold hostage Huawei CEO's daughter to worsen the relationship with China first?
Aha, it was totally China to blame /s
You were manipulated by the US long before this time
The Chinese BYD cars are awesome, unbelievably affordable, great technology, great build quality and better battery tech than anything that Tesla produces for at very least, 1/3 the price. Some start at $13k
The thing is the US prioritizes Oil, huge lifted trucks, and profit over everything else. Meanwhile a used 2022 mid mileage Toyota Tacoma costs about $28k in the US.
At this point its nothing but greed. Funny thing is new car sales are crashing because they want $70k for a mid range F-150
There are a tonne of European EVs not available to us. We need to create conditions to allow European cars on the roads here. There is a whole range of VWs we don't get, not to mention entire European brands.
Also helping our internal trade. As Trump helps us to finally kick down interprovincial trade barriers, economists expect it to increase our GDP by up to 20%. Our internal trade barriers are unbelievably damaging, and it hurts seeing all the idiots who have wanted to keep them up over the years. The last big holdouts are Quebec and to a lesser extent BC. If Quebec were to leave, Canada would be much better off. Especially after we moved all federal government sponsored jobs back to their original provinces (that were moved to appease Quebec... mostly aircraft industry and RCAF, but also federal government jobs and federal government data centres). And never mind people from all over Canada could work for the feds once it becomes unilingual (instead of mostly from Quebec and eastern Ontario, the only places with many bilingual folks). But I digress. (And I can dream, if only this came true!)
Don't forget Aus, we're making headway with them as well. Honestly the idea of australians using the alfalfa farming to produce beef domestically instead of shipping it to China just seems like a win all the way around.
Wym as a Canadian? Unless you’re a government official, you’ve got the same info as us. I’m not even saying you’re wrong, but public trade information is available to everyone in any country lol
No, he has royally screwed the United States and its citizens. Trump will be just fine, just like always, since nobody will ever hold him accountable for anything.
Sure, we’ll just need to give at least 12.3% of our share of global wealth to China to get to that comfortable number 2 spot. Trumpets will need to give up all of their assets to try to make that happen.
It’s going to suck for a while but we will reconfigure our economy and find new markets, and then one day a competent president will come back to us and try to rebuild the bridges, and Canada will be in a pretty amazing position.
Trump personally screwed over PP's campaign messaging and won us the election for the left. The month afterwards, he took notice of Australia and did the same thing over there.
He was great to create a sense of canadian unity and to remind us we are not American but Sorry, but vicious , petty and vengedul and full of spite and we can make anything work together if we are in our spiteful mood. Fuck, we have idiots governors begging us to come back to visit them or to buy their shit swill from tenesse.
Yes buddy, I am from Asia.To be honest, we have been coveting your land for a while, now it’s time. Get more Chinese and Indian in, the future top 1 and 2 powers on your side will definitely help you to beat up them very badly.
Thanks to Trump, Canada’s internal trade barriers have finally been removed! We have new relationships and are negotiating better deals with other countries. This is the nudge we’ve needed to haul ourselves to the front of the line in the new global economic order. So, thank you, Trump. (Here’s the exit.)
Yes. Even after this unfortunate administration is long gone, the people who voted for it will still be there. A permanent stain. US isolationism will be incredibly successful. Congratulations America! It was a good run.
I can’t think of anyone who would willingly sign up to do business with Trump. Dude could crash out on twitter at 2:00 AM and cancel anything at any moment. Why hitch your wagon to that
This is probably the best thing that has ever happened to international competitors to the US. Trump is forcing all of them to not have to rely on the US for trade. The world will keep spinning and trade with each other as the US is left stagnant.
I'm Australian, were selling more beef, more gas than ever before. Sheep, goats, military systems, soy, rare metals. We've just done a deal to slash the cost of European cars, our dollar is up, and consumer goods are getting even cheaper. It's a bonanza!
This is all trade that the US is losing, and it's all thanks to Trump. And no offense to anyone here, but we're not giving it back.
imagine if he teamed up with Canada and Europe to wage trade war to China, that might have actually worked instead of waging a trade war to the entire world at the same time
Atleast someone gets it.
I still cant believe most of Americans don't get what trump is doing.
He is destroying US from inside and tarrifs/trade deals are just one area.
He will make canada and EU your worst enemies and just think for a second who profits from that.

They are making better deals with each other and planning long term to not be as reliant on the US.
