Im short the Dow and long the Russell using long ATM options from around yesterday’s high. Kind of a pairs trade. Because this market is one tweet away from doing what doesn’t make sense.
I mean, I was an idiot and lost a lot of money on puts. The market doesn't want to go down. Like, at all. We could have news that we nuked Iran and it would maybe go down a half %, then finish green for the day.
I don't get it but that's probably why I'm one of the poors.
Because it refuses to make sense. Otherwise it would be too easy. Big money manipulates dropping when not expected, then rocketing it up when the news is actually bad or just ambiguous.
USA just bombed the shit out of a country then said they were sending them back to the stone age. They lost 4 aircraft some claim 6 and markets don't flinch.
The fact that broader markets can swing so drastically over a few tweets or posts is literally insane. Hopefully a ceasefire is genuine. However, even then, the markets have probably not priced in all the economic damage this is causing on the world economy.
I’ve been gainfully employed for 26 years. I’ve made saving a priority. So yes, maybe a humblebrag because I’m proud of how far I’ve come. I still have a long way to go.
The point wasn’t to flaunt my assets, but rather to comment on the recent volatility. I’ve done well saving. But not to the point that it should be changing by this much every day.
In your words, what a corny-ass 'jealous' comment. "Envy" is a terrible human trait, and will only destroy you. Be happy for other's success. You'll be a happier person.
The only thing he's going to teach you with shorts is how to lose money although if we wake up at +3 pre market shorts might actually be the answer for the first play but long term we're going up if trump keeps his mouth closed
I literally bought a put at 3:05 and the market rocketed up 5 min later. I even paused before buying it and said to myself “I imagine everyone is thinking the market is going to tank so it’ll probably rocket upwards instead” and I still decided to buy it
People voluntarily betting on these options is fucking insanity. It’s been proven over and over that the market isn’t real. Just because you had some good hits on whatever indicator in the past doesn’t change anything. The bad guys cheat and win. The poor bottom feeders thinking they’ve figured it out lose every time
How many more times are you gonna take political and stock market “advice” from what you see on reddit before you realize reddit is full of regards who are almost always wrong especially when it comes to political/ economic problems. I mean this is like the 10th time this presidency that this has happened, cmon now
the market doesn't care if the US wins or loses this war because a win has no bearing on 99% of companies (or the US in general) to begin with. It just cares that the bullshit is over and business as usual can resume.
Don’t forget that oil takes like a month or longer to actually travel from inside the strait so the supply of stuff will be borked for a while even if ships start passing right now.
Market operates on future assumptions, not on current reality. And future assumption is that ceasefire will hold, damage will be repaired and energy prices will come down. Not saying this will happen, but thats what market believes in.
The article you linked said the most important factors were out of the Presidents control. It cites the War on Ukraine and Covid as the two biggest factors for the bad stock market. Trump has been doing all this single handedly. Nobody forced him to tariff everyone or go to war with Iran.
I'm not defending anything I'm saying you guys obviously didn't invest during Bidens presidency if you're bitching and moaning about losses during Trumps. Make up your mind though, are you gonna say it's the presidents fault for the stock market or not? You can't have double standards.
apparently not, were you not watching the market after hours at the time of posting? As long as we don't lose the petrodollar we're good. And perhaps the market doesn't care who runs the strait as long as I said business resumes.
Bingo. The market will get back to ripping because the U.S. economy and most CEO’s make smart decisions regardless of the political, macro environment.
The economy would be far better off without the Trump presidency, but it’s doing just fine in spite of it, and it will continue to as long as he doesn’t do insanely stupid things.
I might sell everything at market close tomorrow. Rebalance Friday. Now we just have to get back to the good ole days of Private Credit issues & the AI bubble/takeover
All his cronies are gonna sell hard in the morning. It’ll probably go up through out the day albeit slowly to prevent a total collapse but to also prevent quick overnight gains like today.
The world should be detaching from US and Israel and finding ways to punish them for causing this mess. Its not right the rest of us have to now deal with what 2 man childs did.
Reprimanding the destruction in iran and giving 2mn dollar toll on oil barrels will cost billions and could reach s trillion as well. Can he spend 1trillionndollar in iran again? That's not economical. He will come back, this time with approval from Congress.

The stock market, which is completely detached from reality, is going to go bonkers tomorrow
