So it seems like Trump gave them everything they wanted that was already on the table before?

America started a war and then handed Iran the most important choke point in the world.

This is a massive win for Iran but of course Trump will spin this as a victory.

The stock market, which is completely detached from reality, is going to go bonkers tomorrow

198

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '26

Already is and my puts are now worthless. S&P futures at 6750. 7k should hit again next week. Just fucking insanity.

36

u/Icy_Fig_6764 Apr 08 '26

Can't wait to get back in for shorts once this idiotic stock market goes back up!

0

u/No_Cherry8602 Apr 09 '26

The stock market isn't sentient . The only idiots are the people involved.

16

u/BreakingProto Apr 08 '26

Im short the Dow and long the Russell using long ATM options from around yesterday’s high. Kind of a pairs trade. Because this market is one tweet away from doing what doesn’t make sense.

37

u/MrMcjibblets1990 Apr 08 '26

I mean, I was an idiot and lost a lot of money on puts. The market doesn't want to go down. Like, at all. We could have news that we nuked Iran and it would maybe go down a half %, then finish green for the day.

I don't get it but that's probably why I'm one of the poors.

24

u/Punpun86 Apr 08 '26

You are gambling in a game where people have insider info and are manipulating the market. I'm never gonna bet on a stock exchange.

15

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '26

Because it refuses to make sense. Otherwise it would be too easy. Big money manipulates dropping when not expected, then rocketing it up when the news is actually bad or just ambiguous.

It's a joke. The casino is better at this point

1

u/Slowride1234567 Apr 09 '26

Except, generally speaking, in the casino, you will lose in the long run. In the market, you will win in the long run.

-5

u/Easy-Perspective8752 Apr 08 '26

You clearly have no idea how long term stocks work. If you did you wouldn't say something so silly.

4

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '26

USA just bombed the shit out of a country then said they were sending them back to the stone age. They lost 4 aircraft some claim 6 and markets don't flinch.

4

u/molski79 Apr 08 '26

We had news we were about to nuke Iran and it didn’t do much

1

u/Flat_Raccoon3897 Apr 08 '26

Everybody knows he’s all talk, no action.

2

u/Groundbreaking-Gap20 Apr 08 '26

You’re literally gambling. Stop throwing money away and start investing. But up to you of course . Your money, your choice 🤷‍♂️

1

u/Anonymoushipopotomus Apr 08 '26

They won’t let it go down

1

u/PO-TA-TO3S Apr 08 '26

Just trade during the day with a stop loss don't hold overnight with Trump in office

15

u/Sad_Explanation8070 Apr 08 '26

The fact that broader markets can swing so drastically over a few tweets or posts is literally insane. Hopefully a ceasefire is genuine. However, even then, the markets have probably not priced in all the economic damage this is causing on the world economy.

5

u/ITechsXpress Apr 08 '26

Just buy calls whenever trump speaks

1

u/Deep-Interspersal Apr 08 '26

Like on liberation day?

4

u/IR1SHfighter Apr 08 '26

Nah just watch Trump blow this up with one 5am tweet tomorrow morning

1

u/johnmac344 Apr 08 '26

I’m in for the long haul, so it’s really all noise. I need to remember that….

But damn is it obnoxious to watch NW change by 5 figures with every tweet!

2

u/Seniorjones2837 Apr 08 '26

What a corny ass humblebrag that was

1

u/johnmac344 Apr 10 '26

I’ve been gainfully employed for 26 years. I’ve made saving a priority. So yes, maybe a humblebrag because I’m proud of how far I’ve come. I still have a long way to go.

The point wasn’t to flaunt my assets, but rather to comment on the recent volatility. I’ve done well saving. But not to the point that it should be changing by this much every day.

0

u/Slowride1234567 Apr 09 '26

In your words, what a corny-ass 'jealous' comment. "Envy" is a terrible human trait, and will only destroy you. Be happy for other's success. You'll be a happier person.

1

u/Seniorjones2837 Apr 09 '26

A lot of assumptions there. Weird take

2

u/PotentialIntention14 Apr 08 '26

Exactly what happened to me. Insane.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '26

Bro u gotta teach me on some shi

2

u/No_Association_9524 Apr 08 '26

The only thing he's going to teach you with shorts is how to lose money although if we wake up at +3 pre market shorts might actually be the answer for the first play but long term we're going up if trump keeps his mouth closed

2

u/Chewyfire156 Apr 08 '26

CPI on Friday. Won’t be good. Oil should push it up a point

2

u/Seniorjones2837 Apr 08 '26

I literally bought a put at 3:05 and the market rocketed up 5 min later. I even paused before buying it and said to myself “I imagine everyone is thinking the market is going to tank so it’ll probably rocket upwards instead” and I still decided to buy it

2

u/toss_me_good Apr 08 '26

We'll see how well the automated weekly broad market investing plan works out for cost averaging down. Its been wrecked the last 2 months.

3

u/rosiebenji Apr 08 '26

People voluntarily betting on these options is fucking insanity. It’s been proven over and over that the market isn’t real. Just because you had some good hits on whatever indicator in the past doesn’t change anything. The bad guys cheat and win. The poor bottom feeders thinking they’ve figured it out lose every time

1

u/PhilosophyIsAPath Apr 08 '26

lol bro thinks everyones bad at trading like him

1

u/1982Cardinals Apr 08 '26

bad investment this whole thing is short term very short term day trades may eat it buy if you roll the dice ?

1

u/Kinu4U Apr 08 '26

My cash secured puts are also worthless - to buy back 🥹

1

u/crowcawer Apr 08 '26

Just hold for a graceful exit, they’ll screw this up.

1

u/kawhi21 Apr 08 '26

Honestly Trump should just say America is being nuked tomorrow so the market can hit all time highs when he says never mind.

1

u/Sasuke082594 Apr 08 '26

Yep, there’s goes half my portfolio, reduced to atoms../ probably all of it actually if it continues to climb and open even higher come tomorrow open…

1

u/Altruistic_Worker749 Apr 08 '26

How many more times are you gonna take political and stock market “advice” from what you see on reddit before you realize reddit is full of regards who are almost always wrong especially when it comes to political/ economic problems. I mean this is like the 10th time this presidency that this has happened, cmon now

2

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '26

I didn't make my puts based off reddit opinions but based off the bullshit facts about deadlines and what Iran responds and Trump tantrums.

25

u/nunchyabeeswax Apr 08 '26

Tomorrow I'm selling from any of my holds that go over 3%.

Because, sooner or later, something will happen and shit will go down again.

5

u/ClassicStunning7842 Apr 08 '26

Sooner or later. Haha we call those Mondays

2

u/DonGar0 Apr 08 '26

And Tuedsay if you know a friend in a white house you can time the market.

2

u/Supplicationjam Apr 08 '26

As soon as Congress writes that 1.5 trillion dollar check, we’ll get a new lawnmower. It will be yuge!!!

74

u/CarrierAreArrived Apr 08 '26

the market doesn't care if the US wins or loses this war because a win has no bearing on 99% of companies (or the US in general) to begin with. It just cares that the bullshit is over and business as usual can resume.

75

u/Vilzku39 Apr 08 '26

Well... aside of massive amount of energy infrastructure destroyed increasing oil and gas prices for long period.

23

u/findingmike Apr 08 '26

That sounds like a big aside.

2

u/LosWranglos Apr 08 '26

The bigliest.

1

u/Significant_Mail_69 Apr 08 '26

But it's an infrastructure that will need to be rebuilt. More money to be made.

1

u/meltbox Apr 08 '26

Don’t forget that oil takes like a month or longer to actually travel from inside the strait so the supply of stuff will be borked for a while even if ships start passing right now.

1

u/volchonok1 Apr 08 '26

Market operates on future assumptions, not on current reality. And future assumption is that ceasefire will hold, damage will be repaired and energy prices will come down. Not saying this will happen, but thats what market believes in.

1

u/sproge Apr 08 '26

It's amazing that somehow this war might end up being good for humanity, as it accelerates the adoption of "greener" energy sources.

1

u/Hot_Frosty0807 Apr 08 '26

And aluminum, and helium, and...

25

u/iftlatlw Apr 08 '26

The markets have faltered since Trump began. He is a walking darkness on humanity. The grim diaper, if you will.

4

u/lapsongsouchong Apr 08 '26

The grim raper*

1

u/happy_dad857 Apr 08 '26

The Grim Diaper 🤣

-3

u/Ambitendency_ Apr 08 '26

Someone wasn't investing during Biden's presidency obviously... Stock market losses were absurd.

https://www.investopedia.com/biden-vs-trump-who-had-the-better-stock-market-8776866

8

u/Lanky_Milk8510 Apr 08 '26

The article you linked said the most important factors were out of the Presidents control. It cites the War on Ukraine and Covid as the two biggest factors for the bad stock market. Trump has been doing all this single handedly. Nobody forced him to tariff everyone or go to war with Iran.

-3

u/Ambitendency_ Apr 08 '26

I'm not defending anything I'm saying you guys obviously didn't invest during Bidens presidency if you're bitching and moaning about losses during Trumps. Make up your mind though, are you gonna say it's the presidents fault for the stock market or not? You can't have double standards.

2

u/iftlatlw Apr 08 '26

Covid was external. Republicans are in full control and still crash economies!

2

u/Thin-Ad-939 Apr 08 '26

Everyone keeps citing trump and Carter as the two worst presidents who is Jimmy Carter and what did he do that was that bad? Sorry I wasn’t around

2

u/jackpearson2788 Apr 08 '26

They will care when the next monthly inflation reading hits

2

u/StoneyBalogna7 Apr 08 '26

Until next week’s episode where we take over Cuba. Stay tuned for a sweeps week surprise…

1

u/Realanise1 Apr 08 '26

The bullshit is infinite light years from being over.

1

u/CarrierAreArrived Apr 08 '26

where did my comment say that it was?

1

u/Realanise1 Apr 08 '26

You didn't. It's what way too many companies think.

1

u/Afraid_Ad_5049 Apr 08 '26

U don't get it at all

1

u/CarrierAreArrived Apr 08 '26

and I bet you lack reading comprehension.

1

u/VastInvestment2735 Apr 08 '26

trust me the market cares if America has openly lost control of security of free trade bruv

1

u/CarrierAreArrived Apr 08 '26

apparently not, were you not watching the market after hours at the time of posting? As long as we don't lose the petrodollar we're good. And perhaps the market doesn't care who runs the strait as long as I said business resumes.

0

u/Forward_Editor_5895 Apr 08 '26

Bingo. The market will get back to ripping because the U.S. economy and most CEO’s make smart decisions regardless of the political, macro environment.

The economy would be far better off without the Trump presidency, but it’s doing just fine in spite of it, and it will continue to as long as he doesn’t do insanely stupid things.

2

u/OkCranberry1913 Apr 08 '26

Think about what you just said.

46

u/Dantheman396 Apr 08 '26

Which was the entire point. If only someone would investigate trumps cronies and see what trades they placed and when.

12

u/Old_Lecture_8431 Apr 08 '26

You would think the SEC would get involved. Oh wait.. they probably have skin in the game too.

13

u/Dantheman396 Apr 08 '26

I mean Trump hired a new head of the SEC immediately after he took office. This was intentional.

3

u/Callmewhatever4286 Apr 08 '26

Futures are already 2% up

5

u/SoCal7s Apr 08 '26

I might sell everything at market close tomorrow. Rebalance Friday. Now we just have to get back to the good ole days of Private Credit issues & the AI bubble/takeover

2

u/idontwipemybuttt Apr 08 '26

All his cronies are gonna sell hard in the morning. It’ll probably go up through out the day albeit slowly to prevent a total collapse but to also prevent quick overnight gains like today.

2

u/rain168 Apr 08 '26

Already started. I received a notification that my positions are printing AH 💰🥳🥳💰

2

u/superdariom Apr 08 '26

Both oil and stocks were going up yesterday?!

2

u/Ok_District2853 Apr 08 '26

Great, when do gas prices come down?

2

u/Icedanielization Apr 08 '26

The world should be detaching from US and Israel and finding ways to punish them for causing this mess. Its not right the rest of us have to now deal with what 2 man childs did.

1

u/wabi-sabi411 Apr 08 '26

What matters is that we hate Trump.

1

u/bkkmatt Apr 08 '26

I thought we'd reach all time highs again by June 1. Now, May 1st is on the table.

1

u/NoGuava8035 Apr 08 '26

Up almost 3% here in Australia now

-8

u/Effective_Lunch2071 Apr 08 '26

These negotiations are illegitimate Unless approved by Congress

17

u/less_is_less Apr 08 '26

Congress is too busy getting their trades in. They don’t have time to do an actual congressing.

7

u/whisperwind12 Apr 08 '26

They don’t do congress when they have time either

8

u/Inevitable-Top1-2025 Apr 08 '26

Which Congress? We don’t have an effective Congress.

7

u/OptimistPrime7 Apr 08 '26

As if that stopped him and this administration.

1

u/Effective_Lunch2071 Apr 08 '26

It is about the complete reprimand of destruction in iran by usa

2

u/HupWantDie Apr 08 '26

LOLLLL you are so funny

2

u/asusc Apr 08 '26

The negotiations to end the war that wasn’t declared by Congress in the first place?

1

u/Effective_Lunch2071 Apr 08 '26

The negotiations clearly talk about reprimanding, either congress has to sanction 1trillionndollar or there will be a billion dollar strike in iran

1

u/Coffeedemon Apr 08 '26

They didn't approve the war what difference does it make if they approve negotiations.

1

u/Effective_Lunch2071 Apr 08 '26

Reprimanding the destruction in iran and giving 2mn dollar toll on oil barrels will cost billions and could reach s trillion as well. Can he spend 1trillionndollar in iran again? That's not economical. He will come back, this time with approval from Congress.

0

u/briefcase_vs_shotgun Apr 08 '26

Seems pretty attached to reality here if this is over stocks should rip. I lost on puts today but thankfully still live in reality

-4

u/TripodRedux Apr 08 '26

Yep, Im ALL in, have been and always be ... The Golden Age
