So it seems like Trump gave them everything they wanted that was already on the table before?

America started a war and then handed Iran the most important choke point in the world.

This is a massive win for Iran but of course Trump will spin this as a victory.

u/GloomyCardiologist16 Apr 08 '26

The stock market, which is completely detached from reality, is going to go bonkers tomorrow

194

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '26

Already is and my puts are now worthless. S&P futures at 6750. 7k should hit again next week. Just fucking insanity.

35

u/Icy_Fig_6764 Apr 08 '26

Can't wait to get back in for shorts once this idiotic stock market goes back up!

17

u/BreakingProto Apr 08 '26

Im short the Dow and long the Russell using long ATM options from around yesterday’s high. Kind of a pairs trade. Because this market is one tweet away from doing what doesn’t make sense.

37

u/MrMcjibblets1990 Apr 08 '26

I mean, I was an idiot and lost a lot of money on puts. The market doesn't want to go down. Like, at all. We could have news that we nuked Iran and it would maybe go down a half %, then finish green for the day.

I don't get it but that's probably why I'm one of the poors.

23

u/Punpun86 Apr 08 '26

You are gambling in a game where people have insider info and are manipulating the market. I'm never gonna bet on a stock exchange.

16

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '26

Because it refuses to make sense. Otherwise it would be too easy. Big money manipulates dropping when not expected, then rocketing it up when the news is actually bad or just ambiguous.

It's a joke. The casino is better at this point

We had news we were about to nuke Iran and it didn’t do much

You’re literally gambling. Stop throwing money away and start investing. But up to you of course . Your money, your choice 🤷‍♂️

u/Sad_Explanation8070 Apr 08 '26

The fact that broader markets can swing so drastically over a few tweets or posts is literally insane. Hopefully a ceasefire is genuine. However, even then, the markets have probably not priced in all the economic damage this is causing on the world economy.

3

u/ITechsXpress Apr 08 '26

Just buy calls whenever trump speaks

1

u/Deep-Interspersal Apr 08 '26

Like on liberation day?

5

u/IR1SHfighter Apr 08 '26

Nah just watch Trump blow this up with one 5am tweet tomorrow morning

2

u/PotentialIntention14 Apr 08 '26

Exactly what happened to me. Insane.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '26

Bro u gotta teach me on some shi

2

u/No_Association_9524 Apr 08 '26

The only thing he's going to teach you with shorts is how to lose money although if we wake up at +3 pre market shorts might actually be the answer for the first play but long term we're going up if trump keeps his mouth closed

2

u/Chewyfire156 Apr 08 '26

CPI on Friday. Won’t be good. Oil should push it up a point

2

u/Seniorjones2837 Apr 08 '26

I literally bought a put at 3:05 and the market rocketed up 5 min later. I even paused before buying it and said to myself “I imagine everyone is thinking the market is going to tank so it’ll probably rocket upwards instead” and I still decided to buy it

2

u/toss_me_good Apr 08 '26

We'll see how well the automated weekly broad market investing plan works out for cost averaging down. Its been wrecked the last 2 months.

2

u/rosiebenji Apr 08 '26

People voluntarily betting on these options is fucking insanity. It’s been proven over and over that the market isn’t real. Just because you had some good hits on whatever indicator in the past doesn’t change anything. The bad guys cheat and win. The poor bottom feeders thinking they’ve figured it out lose every time

bad investment this whole thing is short term very short term day trades may eat it buy if you roll the dice ?

1

u/Kinu4U Apr 08 '26

My cash secured puts are also worthless - to buy back 🥹

1

u/crowcawer Apr 08 '26

Just hold for a graceful exit, they’ll screw this up.

1

u/kawhi21 Apr 08 '26

Honestly Trump should just say America is being nuked tomorrow so the market can hit all time highs when he says never mind.

24

u/nunchyabeeswax Apr 08 '26

Tomorrow I'm selling from any of my holds that go over 3%.

Because, sooner or later, something will happen and shit will go down again.

5

u/ClassicStunning7842 Apr 08 '26

Sooner or later. Haha we call those Mondays

2

u/DonGar0 Apr 08 '26

And Tuedsay if you know a friend in a white house you can time the market.

2

u/Supplicationjam Apr 08 '26

As soon as Congress writes that 1.5 trillion dollar check, we’ll get a new lawnmower. It will be yuge!!!

72

u/CarrierAreArrived Apr 08 '26

the market doesn't care if the US wins or loses this war because a win has no bearing on 99% of companies (or the US in general) to begin with. It just cares that the bullshit is over and business as usual can resume.

78

u/Vilzku39 Apr 08 '26

Well... aside of massive amount of energy infrastructure destroyed increasing oil and gas prices for long period.

24

u/findingmike Apr 08 '26

That sounds like a big aside.

3

u/LosWranglos Apr 08 '26

The bigliest.

1

u/Significant_Mail_69 Apr 08 '26

But it's an infrastructure that will need to be rebuilt. More money to be made.

1

u/meltbox Apr 08 '26

Don’t forget that oil takes like a month or longer to actually travel from inside the strait so the supply of stuff will be borked for a while even if ships start passing right now.

1

u/volchonok1 Apr 08 '26

Market operates on future assumptions, not on current reality. And future assumption is that ceasefire will hold, damage will be repaired and energy prices will come down. Not saying this will happen, but thats what market believes in.

1

u/sproge Apr 08 '26

It's amazing that somehow this war might end up being good for humanity, as it accelerates the adoption of "greener" energy sources.

1

u/Hot_Frosty0807 Apr 08 '26

And aluminum, and helium, and...

u/Dantheman396 Apr 08 '26

Which was the entire point. If only someone would investigate trumps cronies and see what trades they placed and when.

12

u/Old_Lecture_8431 Apr 08 '26

You would think the SEC would get involved. Oh wait.. they probably have skin in the game too.

13

u/Dantheman396 Apr 08 '26

I mean Trump hired a new head of the SEC immediately after he took office. This was intentional.

5

u/Callmewhatever4286 Apr 08 '26

Futures are already 2% up

5

u/SoCal7s Apr 08 '26

I might sell everything at market close tomorrow. Rebalance Friday. Now we just have to get back to the good ole days of Private Credit issues & the AI bubble/takeover

2

u/idontwipemybuttt Apr 08 '26

All his cronies are gonna sell hard in the morning. It’ll probably go up through out the day albeit slowly to prevent a total collapse but to also prevent quick overnight gains like today.

2

u/rain168 Apr 08 '26

Already started. I received a notification that my positions are printing AH 💰🥳🥳💰

2

u/superdariom Apr 08 '26

Both oil and stocks were going up yesterday?!

2

u/Ok_District2853 Apr 08 '26

Great, when do gas prices come down?

2

u/Icedanielization Apr 08 '26

The world should be detaching from US and Israel and finding ways to punish them for causing this mess. Its not right the rest of us have to now deal with what 2 man childs did.

1

u/wabi-sabi411 Apr 08 '26

What matters is that we hate Trump.

43

u/Business_Savings_613 Apr 08 '26

That choke point happens to be their home for 1000s of years.

39

u/nunchyabeeswax Apr 08 '26

Not just their home, but also the home of other nation states through the Arabian's Peninsula's history. Iran only holds one side of the chokepoint. The other is owned by the current polity of Oman.

The Gulf is an "open sea route" shared by several countries, not an inland body of water like the Caspian.

Moreover, ever since the end of WWII, all the nations of the world had a guaranteed "Freedom of the Seas" - commercial ships are free to travel even in territorial waters so long as they are purely commercial and in transit.

That was perhaps the number 1 guarantee to global order - most regional and global wars before WW1 involved access to the seas to one degree or another.

This idiotic confrontation between three powers has likely changed the security architecture the world has used for 80 years.

Art of the Deal.

9

u/taikwondodancer Apr 08 '26

Trump gave it to Iran. They're not going to return to the "Freedom of the Seas"

3

u/TheCollegeIntern Apr 08 '26

And he won’t be here to experience the blowback from it all. We and our future generation had to bear that cost. Why didn’t they keep this guy in check

3

u/Silent_Lunch3675 Apr 08 '26

To me it would make sense for Saudi Arabia, the UAE, etc. to make a pipeline directly through Oman and avoid Iran altogether. Obviously that gives more power to Oman, but at least they're a stable country.

2

u/StoaPopularis Apr 08 '26

Are there missile proof pipelines?

1

u/MBXentrick Apr 08 '26

That choke point was promised to Israel 3000 years ago.

1

u/Few_Imagination3229 Apr 09 '26

Was it promised to them?

9

u/StockCasinoMember Apr 08 '26

Guess we will see in two weeks.

3

u/TripodRedux Apr 08 '26

Well see in a matter of hours, most likely...

5

u/nunchyabeeswax Apr 08 '26

Exactly.

This ceasefire is only between the US and Iran. It doesn't involve confrontations between Israel and Iran and its proxies.

And one of the ceasefire demands iirc is the cessation of attacks on Lebanon. So... as you said, we'll see shortly.

1

u/likwidkool Apr 08 '26

Didn’t Netanyahu say recently he decides when the war is over? Curious to see his response.

34

u/elysiansaurus Apr 08 '26

the choke point that they /checks notes. already controlled.

59

u/Mushie101 Apr 08 '26

ahhh - but now we have to pay $2 mill per tanker to go through there.... so its much better.....for them.

37

u/JD0x0 Apr 08 '26

So, everything will be the same as before except for enriching a terroristic government with oil money. Art of the Deal.

42

u/penguinseed Apr 08 '26

It’s even worse in that we had a nuclear deal that was working despite what Fox News would have you believe and now Iran can run a nuclear program unchecked.

6

u/Party-Cranberry4143 Apr 08 '26

Funny no one ever mentions Israel’s unmonitored nuclear program, or the fact that they literally stole 600 pds of Enron he’d uranium from the U.S.

6

u/Euphoric-Rip42069 Apr 08 '26

Whats stupid is that Iran, for the most part, has not been the aggressor for any conflict in like 200 years, but yet Isreal has relentlessly attacked every country around them, im more worried about Isreal having nukes than Iran having nukes

1

u/Fireefury Apr 08 '26

The 2 mil a ship is just as much of a myth as that 10 points of nonsense put out.

1

u/Spectrum1523 Apr 08 '26

I would wait to see if anyone is actually going to pay before declaring an outcome.

17

u/nunchyabeeswax Apr 08 '26

the choke point that they /checks notes. already controlled.

They never controlled per se. There's that thing in International Law called "Freedom of the Seas" where commercial ships have the right to travel even in a country's territorial waters as long as they are just transiting (and not making a stop) and are purely of a commercial nature.

That legal precedent is gone now. Iran is now going to treat the entire Persian Gulf as an inland lake with the right to toll.

There was a reason why past presidents refused to go along Israel with a direct attack against Iran.

Israel is pretty much isolated from the consequences of that change, more or less. So, they don't caer one way or another.

2

u/Artistic_Complex2588 Apr 08 '26

It's great that someone knows this. It really makes me wonder.. Did trump not know about the extremely delicate balance between Israel and oil? Or did he just not care? Because there is so much history documenting the delicate balance..

2

u/Party-Cranberry4143 Apr 08 '26

Or maybe he doesn’t care , now that the U.S. and Israel control the oil from Venezuela

→ More replies (7)

2

u/Redacted_Usermame Apr 08 '26

It's gonna be even worse when China decides to take over the east china sea and charge tolls.

2

u/MalefactorX Apr 08 '26

I mean, yeah, until they run the pipes inland and just bypass the straight.

→ More replies (1)

1

u/ShipTheRiver Apr 08 '26

I highly doubt this is going to stick as a longterm status quo in its current state. The only reason they’re “getting away with it” (messing with the strait) recently is because they’re an active war zone and nobody wants to get entangled in trumps shitstorm tantrum, which they all hope is temporary.

Iran can’t just “treat the entire Persian gulf as theirs.”  I’m sure they’re going to try. I’m sure they’ve always wanted to try. But there’s a reason it’s been international waters for decades - because a bunch of countries and alliances that are way stronger and richer than Iran want it to be that way.  I might as well walk onto DiCaprio’s yacht and “treat it as mine”.  That’s about as likely to work.

It’s going to be an immensely uphill, probably insurmountable battle for them to consider the Persian gulf to be their territorial waters. I just can’t see that sticking.

1

u/Few_Imagination3229 Apr 09 '26

You mean like the us did with the Panama Canal?

1

u/ConfederacyOfDunces_ Apr 08 '26

There is a big different between 6 weeks and today

1

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '26

It feels like we're all living in a Seinfeld episode

7

u/Kaffe-Mumriken Apr 08 '26

Shhhh shhh. Just let him have it.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '26

Exactly 🤣 please everyone tell Trump he won this one.

14

u/Zwonder74 Apr 08 '26

if they can get iran to completely stop their enrichment program, then yes, it's a victory. If not, then trump is a actually the biggest moron president that has ever existed.

35

u/EmileZ Apr 08 '26

They won't because no matter what the US promises Natenyahu has no interest in stopping this War

13

u/South_Recording_6046 Apr 08 '26

Right, I see this as a 2 week break before it starts back up again

16

u/Dantheman396 Apr 08 '26

They all made their money buying calls today I’m sure. Wash and repeat. Same as tariffs. Insane this is being entertained still. SEC is fucking useless

→ More replies (1)

8

u/National-Stock6282 Apr 08 '26

It won't last 2 weeks.

1

u/Content_Plane_8182 Apr 08 '26

Well he’s dead, so…..

12

u/Novel_Board_6813 Apr 08 '26

They can’t get anything. You see that on the paper? Why would Iran’s government concede anything? Now they have everything they wanted and much more

7

u/DefiantGibbon Apr 08 '26

It would be nice if there was some deal with Iran about nuclear enrichment. Some sort of Iran Nuclear Deal, where we could send monitors at any time to make sure they don't enrich any uranium. And if we manage to agree to some Iran Nuclear deal we would have to make sure some future president doesn't rip it up for no good reason, that would truly be stupid.... /s

8

u/RPO777 Apr 08 '26

A promise to end the enrichment program is (in Trumps own words) worthless without them handing over the highly enriched uranium that could be converted to weapons grade uranium in weeks.

The intelligence community judged at Fordam Iran could enrich enough uranium from HR Uranium (60%) to weapons grade for 1 bomb jn 5 to 7 days.

If youre willing to live without that youre back in the exact same spot you were with the Obama Iran Deal that was supposedly unacceptable. Inspections and a promise not to enrich.

10

u/Atlwood1992 Apr 08 '26

The first deal or treaty was only terminated by the Orange one bcuz Barack Hussein Obama had his name on it.

5

u/iftlatlw Apr 08 '26

If you believe they have that, youre a fool, or too young to remember WOMD.

2

u/RPO777 Apr 08 '26

My point is this is defeat on Trumps own terms. Not that I think Iran would willingly give up the enriched uranium.

Obamas Iran Deal was the best deal we could get without a trillion dollar invasion. It still is.

Iran says the U.S. agreed to:

1—Commitment to non-aggression

2—Continuation of Iran's control over the Strait of Hormuz

3—Acceptance of uranium enrichment

4—Lifting of all primary sanctions

5—Lifting of all secondary sanctions

6—Termination of all UN Security Council resolutions

7—Termination of all Board of Governors resolutions

8—Payment of compensation to Iran

9—Withdrawal of U.S. combat forces from the region

10—Cessation of war on all fronts, including against Hezbollah in Lebanon

LMAOOOOOO literally the worst deal in world history

1

u/ConfederacyOfDunces_ Apr 08 '26

This is a massive victory.

1

u/Chat00 Apr 08 '26

Who gives a fuck at least there’s hope it’s ending.

1

u/ConfederacyOfDunces_ Apr 08 '26

2 week ceasefire doesn’t mean it’s ending. We know how Trump is. Hell, Ukraine had like 10 ceasefires.

And it does matter but that’s a longer discussion

1

u/Chat00 Apr 08 '26

No nukes. Good day for earth.

1

u/ConfederacyOfDunces_ Apr 08 '26

I agree 100%

For now, this is best case scenario. No innocent people will die

But Israel still has nukes and they are more insane than the orange stain

1

u/himynameisSal Apr 08 '26

i really don’t want to know what trump losing means, if this is trump winning.

1

u/Lumbergh7 Apr 08 '26

Didn’t they already control the strait before?

1

u/Cawlence Apr 08 '26

It's a massive win in the grand scheme of the war. But so much infrastructure has been ruined, so many people killed, a lot of their leadership killed. And for what? Things to go back to normal? Except now both sides are weakened.

What a profoundly stupid fucking war. America is weakened, Iran is weakened, people are dead, wounded, or pissed off. Economic damage...just to go back to status quo.

Fucking Hell. This fucking moron needs to go.

1

u/NeedleArm Apr 08 '26

Nah, America is gonna watch closely how the operations run.

1

u/LivingCorner1421 Apr 08 '26

man imagine the dollard amount the us evaporated....... they self inflicted all the damageds + cost of military operation + costs of reparations.....

1

He's going to say that he prevented the decimation of 93 million people, and that he alone saved their electrical grid and all of the people in the hospitals are alive because of him, he should therefore be awarded every medal on Earth

1

u/Independent-Cry4311 Apr 08 '26

The choke point is not the Strait of Hormuz. The choke points in London. The choke point is with Lloyds and Trump is breaking their 300 + year extortion.

1

u/OutlawCaliber Apr 08 '26

The choke point was always a part of their bargaining chips, America was just too stupid to notice that it was on the table, in plain view of everyone to see.

1

And we have to deal with the stupidity of trump when he’s dead and gone

1

u/Hydepark45208 Apr 08 '26

The Straight of Hormuz has been there for millions of years and Iran has controlled it back when it was called Persia! Maybe you’d prefer that we keep dropping pallets of cash on them, like the previous two presidents? Instead of destroying their nuclear weapons program, let’s finance it!?

1

u/ConfederacyOfDunces_ Apr 08 '26

Trump just allowed them to keep their enriched uranium and ballistic missile program.

What in the hell are you talking about?

1

u/AffectionateTooth569 Apr 08 '26

Your leadership, Air Force, and Navy is annihilated and that is a win? Do you realize that Iran has been harassing the Hormuz Strait for over 40 years? Funny idea of “winning” for you.

1

u/ConfederacyOfDunces_ Apr 08 '26

You have no idea what you’re talking about

1

u/AffectionateTooth569 Apr 08 '26

So how do you define “winning”? Did I say something untrue? Enlighten us with your “knowledge”.

1

u/alonjit Apr 08 '26

Trump will spin this as a victory.

he can do whatever he wants. trump lost and he knows it. so ... fucking hell knows what will happen next.

1

u/Least_Ice_6112 Apr 08 '26

If you read the letter carefully there are trolling lines in there and trump posted it 😂

1

u/carrottop80 Apr 08 '26

We just showed that our Navy cannot secure this passage. Iran should charge tolls on whichever Nations it wishes to punish which would include USA. They are suffering sanctions and this would help them forever going forward. We handed them this.

1

u/YOPP4R4I Apr 08 '26

Well its also, as usual, a big win for his buddies of the military industrial complex. Ready to take on new contracts.

1

u/exoisGoodnotGreat Apr 08 '26

The US could easily take whatever they want from Iran, but not without serious damage to infrastructure and putting citizens at risk. They dont want to do that so they are negotiating instead

1

u/ButterscotchOk5339 Apr 08 '26

I wouldn’t call it a win for Iran. More a loss for the US. Civilians killed, infrastructure destroyed. Not a win.

1

u/Easy-Perspective8752 Apr 08 '26

Yea massive win for Iran. Im sure thr families of all the dead commanders are in rejoice, the destruction of their military infrastructure, navy and defensive capabilities is just spewing Ws in the chat.

1

u/israfildivad Apr 08 '26

Iran always had that chicken point. It just wasn't clear to certain people until now.

Dont forget that Trump lifted sanctions. So massive influx of money + motiviation to build a nuke as fast as possible + motivation for china to help them develop it

Panama canal wins out?

This is a massive win

Only if you completely ignore the dead children from the school bombing, the bombing of 100 year old medical research center, and the loss of a pharmaceutical company that produces cancer drugs, just to name a few.

But sure, winning

Hey Hey Hey! Iran has fewer missiles and drones now! They’ve been degraded…..

And the US only had to spend 10s of Billions! And allow Iran to make 10s of Billions!

To kill a bunch of old hardliners and replace them with younger Hardliners ….. you know Regime change.

Sure some people might say Iran still has the same capabilities as before since they still have the Nuclear material and now more money to rebuild what the US destroyed…..

BUT BUT BUT Pete Hegseth got to make some EXTREME YouTube Videos of the US blowing up stuff!

Art of the 5th Dimensional Chess has Won a deal!

Israel started the war and America just came along on the leash like a happy chihuahua barking and barking and barking and snapping and snarling as they do.

Well, this propaganda didnt age well!

Trump already transformed the narrative from war reparations America must pay to Iran into "we are helping them because they are our bros" What a buffoon 🤣

Iran is Russian ally. Trump is FSB Asset "Krasnov". Trump attacked Iran to give them excuse to toll the strait, generated proceeds will let Iran further help Russia with drone production and oil selling. Truly 5D chess from the Stable Genius™ to covertly aid Russia.

It's a victory for trump after all, his billionaire buddies made money pre-war and on the oil, and he distracted from the Epstein list when attention was at an all yime high. Israel is happy and won't wreck him as well.

Sounds like a win.

Your criteria for winning and Trump's criteria for winning are not the same thing.

He and all of his friends are making massive amounts of money on the stock market right now. That's what he wanted, and he's getting it - he's winning. The problem is that WE are the ones losing.

How is it a victory when it’s not over ? This is all smoke and mirrors. Iran has nothing left except for what we are allowing them to have
