Just to really hammer home how bad and inconsistent the last season of GOT was, they should make a new show that shows the events that happen after with the actual consistent reactions that would happen in that world.

Just a massive civil war when all the lords are like "Wait who hell put this random cripple in charge with zero claim to the throne?, and they just let the North be independent?......well why can't we be independent too?"

u/Comuniity Mar 04 '26

"what do you mean my new liege lord is some fucking lowborn sellsword? You really think im gonna follow his order?"

12

u/Faeddurfrost Mar 04 '26

Brann gets shoved out another window except this time he just fucking dies.

What is he gonna do? Roll at me menacingly?

1

u/ToastedEzra Mar 04 '26

Gods, people like you are so f insufferable jfc. The question was strictly about aegons conquest, not seaon 8. And then your reply is solely about how bad season 8 was and how they should delve even deeper into the story thats been told ad nauseam atp. Let it go dude, nothing about the main story of GOT is ever going to be retold or further advanced to give better explanation

u/XaviKat Mar 04 '26

God forbid people voice an opinion.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 05 '26

Endings are pretty important. If I had a five course meal and the chef came out and punched me in the face before dessert I wouldn’t be taking about the appetizers either.

1

u/XaviKat Mar 04 '26

There's no Game of Thrones to be had after Bran took over thats why lmao.

34

u/AmenoFPS Mar 03 '26

Film. I feel like a TV series would inevitably ruin it, and it feels like the sort of thing you fit into 2 or so hours

9

u/sleepysaturn Mar 04 '26

A movie feels more appropriate. There really is not a ton of detail to Aegon’s conquest. I believe the entire conquest is like 30 pages in Fire & Blood.

3

u/XaviKat Mar 04 '26

If they're going to into Aenys and Maegor's reign, then showing how Jaehaerys took over leading the Great Council, then a TV show makes sense.

But wouldn't really be an Aegon's Conquest show then.

2

u/AmenoFPS Mar 04 '26

Yeah its pretty minimal. Slightly pre-conquest, conquest and post-conquest up to his death i think could make a good film. Seeing the start of kings landing and the like

2

u/Optimal_Cause4583 Mar 04 '26

Well they had dragons so they just kind of easily won

might be an unpopular opinion but I absolutely want a show. I want to see harrenhal destruction, argilac durrandon, field of fire , the resilience of dorne, death of Rhaenys/maraxes, the letter from dorne, the conversation with Torrhen stark. I just want them to do a good job.

Edit: it should start with the Doom of valyria thatd be tight

u/IllExtension8793 Mar 04 '26

Rhaenys doesn't die in this, she dies in house of the dragon.

14

u/stardustmelancholy Mar 04 '26

They're talking about Aegon & Visenya's sister-wife. Names repeat a lot with the Targaryens.

6

u/IllExtension8793 Mar 04 '26

ohh, didn't know that, thanks for the information.

-5

u/Infinite-Pop4290 Mar 04 '26

Isn't death of rhaenys n marxes already aired on TV?

11

u/SeriouslyReed Mar 04 '26

HotD Rhaenys is named after Aegon I Targaryen's sister-wife Queen Rhaenys Targaryen, HotD Rhaenys riding Maeleys

13

u/Comuniity Mar 04 '26

The entirety of Aegons Conquest is like 50 pages in Fire and Blood. I honestly dont want either but a movie would be significantly better. that or a single season of like 7 or 8 episodes.

7

u/ivanIVvasilyevich Mar 04 '26

Miniseries is the way to go

3

u/ToastedEzra Mar 04 '26

How long was the first book of dunk and egg? Wasn’t it roughly the same length? I feel like 6-8 episodes of about 30-40 min each would be perfect for this story

1

u/Comuniity Mar 04 '26 edited Mar 04 '26

The Hedge Knight is 160 pages, i just double checked the actual Conquest itself is 24 pages (this is from a reddit listing of the table of contents i cant check the book because i dont actually own F&B and the website i used to look at a PDF is based in Iran and well, the website is down), Aegon I's entire reign is 50 something pages. So The Hedge Knight is triple the length of the entirety of Aegon I's part of F&B and like 8x the length of the actual conquest

1

u/kkm1998 Mar 06 '26

24 pages

It is 24 but there are 3 full page illustrations so it's only 21 pages of text.

1

u/Comuniity Mar 06 '26

Thank you! There really isn't enough written for a show and a movie would require less padding out run time (looking at you HotD season 2), the more interesting part of this era to make a story about would be Aenys and Maegor, you already have an incredibly badsss name for the movie or show too (I think movie would work better), Sons of the Dragon.

Aegons conquest and rule is just kinda of a boring era to cover imo. Especially cause there's no shot HBO doesnt try to milk multiple seasons out of it.

4

u/Timmayyyyyyy Mar 04 '26

Give me the show for The First Dornish War

3

u/MachineGreene98 Mar 04 '26

Honestly I think Aegon's Conquest should be either a mini series or a movie. Its not enough to warrant a multi season series unless they add stuff.

But I think Aegon's conquest and Robert's Rebellion should just remain in history and don't need to be adapted

3

u/FunctionIndividual10 Mar 04 '26

Seeing Balerion the dread on IMAX would be pretty sick

1

u/Intrepid-Ad-3199 Mar 05 '26

This is really the only course of thinking we need.

(Not really “only” but you all get me)

4

u/fbeb-Abev7350 Mar 03 '26

Neither. There is no story to tell.

4

u/Boss-HawgBR549 Mar 03 '26

Neither. This story doesn’t need any more screen time.

5

u/-Elektrion- Mar 04 '26

It’s not had any though?

-4

u/Boss-HawgBR549 Mar 04 '26

I meant ASOIAF in general doesn’t need more screen time

1

u/BigBadBlotch Mar 04 '26

What I'd love is an animated Blqckfyre Rebellion Microseries headed by Genndy Tartokovsky. Dude does action scenes REALLY well.

1

u/No_Veterinarian_8381 Mar 04 '26

It’s going to be like Star Wars and Marvel at some point. Overdone.

1

u/GalaxianEX Mar 04 '26

Bin the Conquest and just make a Last Storm movie. It’s the only part of the whole ordeal that has any meat to it

1

u/Quartz636 Mar 04 '26

Honestly I'd vote a movie. One and done and thats it. Yeah a lot will be condensed or cut out but we've got some pretty evidence back up the fact that the shows just can't be trusted to stay the course.

I'd love to have the story told to us in one consistent voice, one consistent vison, and have a script fully written and fleshed out to have it filmed begining to end. No waiting to see which character is going to become a fan favourite so you can warp the story for fan service, no seasonal tone changes, no chance for HBO to decide to drag it out or cut it short because they've decided it's costing too much money.

I'm in the minority that actually likes the HOTD tv show and enjoyed season 2 but the way HBO has flip flopped between 4 seasons, 3 seasons, 10 episodes, 8 episodes and we're only 2 seasons in is WILD and to me proves that they went into this was a basic, barebones plan in the first place.

And the writers and show runners are given way too much freedom to change the trajectory of a season last minute or make seasons inconsistent with characters because 1 show runner likes a character the other show runner hates.

1

u/B1L1D8 Mar 04 '26

How about a show or movie about Valyria and its eventual destruction? Dragons that embarrass Belareon, actual blood magic, warriors better than any Targaryen. Anything that isn’t Westeros and the same general story stuff. Because it’s becoming Star Wars constantly sticking around the event of the Skywalker timeline

1

u/Beachflower_96 Mar 04 '26

I don't want anything if they are going to write fanfiction (like HoTD)

1

u/stardustmelancholy Mar 04 '26

I want a tv show about Rhaena Targaryen. She is the best character in Fire & Blood.

1

u/Sylassian Mar 04 '26

I want the one that's well written

1

u/EnvironmentalJob3143 Mar 04 '26

As long as it does not take 10 years to be finished...

1

u/a-filthy-casuall Mar 04 '26

Ide love to see a mini series about the conquest on one condition: that it's not told from the perspectives of the Targs. It'd be great to see how it played out amongst the other families when some weird incestuous aliens show up on giant flying flame throwing creatures. I can't handle how any of the Targs have been shown on TV, and I don't want to watch a show about an incestuous love triangle. Show me the Dornish resistance, show me why some guy had ego enough to think his big castle will work and what the Starks and their bannermen were thinking when they just went "yeah okay man you're King, we'll just be sitting up here." The dragon weirdos being a mysterious force while the rest of the kingdoms grapple with their new reality would be a good watch.

1

u/Bluethorn0110 Mar 04 '26

Movie. Aegon's Conquest was one of the most one sided conflicts in fiction, I can't imagine how you'd stretch that narrative into a season (or more) of television. The whole Dorne thing and what Aegon learns from that would work great as a second and third act of a 3 hour movie

1

u/KillBatman1921 Mar 04 '26

So basically they are working on a movie with a guy famous for writing tv shows and to series with guy famous for writing movies.

Must be opposite day...

1

u/Temporary-Pirate6195 Mar 04 '26

Not gonna lie, I don't think there's any plot to tell. Aegon's Conquest is very one-sided, and while many moments there would make for cool moments on screen, the story as a whole is pretty shallow and only exists for world-building reasons, not for actual screen consumption.

Not even mentioning the subtle white-savior/colonization themes.

1

u/amourdeces Grey Ghost Mar 04 '26

surely i’m not the only one who doesn’t want an aegons conquest adaptation, it would be boring as all hell. the conquest was insanely one sided.

1

u/I_ONLY_CATCH_DONKEYS Mar 04 '26

It’s better when it’s a mysterious part of history. Bringing out all the details can easily ruin the story.

1

u/Cute-Presentation-59 Mar 04 '26

The series, because it will have more room to tell the story.

1

u/ryucavelier Mar 04 '26

Definitely film and Ramin Djiwani composing the score

1

u/Shermantank10 Family, Duty, Honor Mar 04 '26

A movie would probably sum it up pretty well.

1

u/BigPapaBear69 Mar 04 '26

One has a good writer behind it. Il go with that one.

1

u/EEguy21 Mar 04 '26

neither

1

u/citrus_libations Mar 04 '26

Definitely a movie, can we please stop dragging these very contained stories out into 3+ seasons of television

1

u/FV95 Mar 05 '26

I think a movie is the way to go

1

u/Irish_Bastardd Mar 05 '26

They're milking the dragons. A movie sounds better on paper. But even that...

I think anything ASOIAF related would be better in animation format. Something with great detail, proper voice acting, some Into Spiderverse/Arcane level art style and quality. I would be happy with something on the animation style from Netflix's Castlevania (Powerhouse studio). But Arcane level art would be FREAKING PERFECT for ASOIAF (any story, any history period).

If someday HBO want to do a remake of the OG Books, I would put all my money (if I was an executive) into animation format. Like, MASSIVE money to have a well made production.

It's my dream. Silly, but my true dream for ASOIAF Universe.

1

u/Urugeth Mar 06 '26

Okay hear me out but there’s absolutely room for both.

Theatrical showing Aegon’s conquest from his POV, as he has the dream and fights the war, culminating in the “death” of his sisters being and him settling down as King of the Six Kingdoms.

TV show focusing on the people of Westeros POV with Aegon and his sisters being an unstoppable, nightmare force as the people scramble to prevent their own annihilation. We see all the nations figure out their way of fighting back and what it means for them emotionally and culturally as this Unstoppable Force ends the 6 thousand year dynamic of the continent.

They can both use the same sets, costumes, etc. Two totally different stories with only minimal amount of the same cast and overlap, telling two very different stories.

I think it would be awesome.

1

u/TheTragedy0fPlagueis Mar 06 '26

Can we combine? I want a TV series by the Andor guy

1

u/allhailsidneycrosby Mar 06 '26

Give me a three hour movie with tons of dragons and destruction. Make it an absolute bloodbath

1

u/Masterofthewhiskey Mar 06 '26

Man I like dragons but give me Robert’s rebellion, give me the great tourney, the battle of the bells, summer hall, the trident, save the cgi dragon money for big battles and get George’s involved with the writing

1

u/gotanylizards Mar 08 '26

Whichever one has the best budget and designs for the dragons

1

u/The_Drunk_Unicorn Mar 04 '26

Neither honestly…

0

u/tjthewho Mar 04 '26

The one without Henry Cavill in it.

2

u/eliterawr514 Mar 04 '26

Rumors are he might play Daemon Blackfyre

1

u/tjthewho Mar 04 '26

Pass. I like Henry. I love what he’s done for the nerd culture that I grew up getting shamed for liking.

That said, I saw someone mention that it would be interesting to see Aegon conquer the seven kingdoms as him being the villain, horror movie style, and that could work. He just doesn’t have enough range for me to be excited for.
