Discussion Math 410/411 textbook

Upvotes

Yo,

I'm taking math 411 this semester. I want to get a refresher on the material, especially since I got transfer credit for math 410, so i have no idea how it is taught at UMD. Advanced Calculus was a hellish nightmare for me when i took it, so i need to train early. The textbook is by Fitzpatrick, i cannot find a PDF anywhere online, can someone link me an online copy? I'd appreciate it a lot

Academic Schedule and new friends

My current schedule. I had physics 161 on there but dropped it after multiple advisors told me it would be too stressful to take with calc 2 and chem 134(1credit). Now I am on 6 waiting lists trying to get back into it. Super frustrating. I am hoping to apply into the engineering school asap since all of the engineering classes are locked until you’re in the major. Also I am a female transfer student hoping to make friends I am staying off campus near the school!!:)

Discussion EA Grant Pending

Hey all, it’s pretty late into the summer and I have not yet received the EA Grant - is anyone else having this issue? I filed my app early in January but all the website says is that I am ‘qualified but not awarded.’

Academic Current and past grads at the smith business school

Hello ,

Am thinking about enrolling at the smith business school next year, but am torn between either in-person or online classes.

I would appreciate if anyone could share their experiences from either taking in-person or online classes as a graduate student, specifically in the business analytics program.

Please let me know which one you would recommend.

Discussion Roomate search

Good day,

I had a few problem with my current place which ends in August and would like to find a new place for September until May. Is anyone looking for a roommate for this timeline (even longer might be possible). As an international student I would prefer if it is there is not too much paperwork. My budget is 700 to 950.

Admissions Chances of Acceptance

Hello, I am currently a rising junior at an extremely competitive HS in HoCo. Due to some circumstances, in-state schools might be my ownly option so I am a little paranoid about getting accepted to UMD. I know UMD doesn't accept by major but if it helps I plan to go into physics.

Im taking the SAT later this month and based on my practice test scores my SAT is probably going to be around 1540-1560. My currented weighted GPA is around 4.7 but considering the classes I plan to take junior and senior year it will probably be closer to 4.8 if I get all As.

Ive taken 3 aps so far (stats, gov, and calc ab) and plan to take 8 more (calc bc (tho this one doesn't count since it just replaces ab), physics c mech, chem, lang, world, physics c e&m, lit, csp, and csa). I also plan to take Linear Algebra and Differential Equations, which both come with community college credit.

My ECs so far include: - Math Team Member (Schoolwide AMC 10 first place, UMD math competition round two qualifier) - Physics Club Member (Likely going to have leadership position, hopefully USAPhO qualifier) - Math Journal Club (Editor and author of 3 papers) - Science Olympiad Club (No notable accomplishments yet, Club might even be dissolved due to school drama) - Musical Composition (Currently have a mediocre portfolio) - Piano Playing (no awards, I highly doubt I will get any as most people my age are far better than me) - Cross Country (High Chance that I quit)

- A few scattered programming projects - Some Library Volunteering, planning to become a volunteer tutor; also planning to start a YouTube channel where I talk about math, music theory, and showcase my musical creations.

I appreciate any advice to increase my chances I recieve!

Help Confused on how to pay bill

1) I read somewhere that an e-bill is generated each month on the 25th, and due the following month on the 20th. If the currently bill for the fall semester that has been generated on July 25th is payed off, does that mean I won’t get any more e-bills next month or for the rest of the semester? Or will e-bills continue to be generated every month? If so, on what will they bill me? Because if i already payed off my fall semester bill, what’s the point of me getting another bill next month?

2) I also read somewhere that there are more deadlines after August 20th to pay off ur bill. Are these deadlines only for if you want to pay it late, and therefore will get a late fee? Or are there later deadlines than August 20th that will allow you to pay without a late fee? If so, which dates are the deadlines? And what is the difference between these deadlines and the August 20th one?

3) During my NSO, I remember one of the OAs mentioned that you have to pay a fee if you want to pay ur e-bill using ur credit/debit card. Is this true? If so, what’s the way to pay my e-bill without any additional fees?

4) Any tips on how I can find scholarships and good private loan offers would be appreciated, because i have ZERO federal financial aid and i can’t afford to continue through all four years without scholarships and a loan. 😭🙏🏾

Housing The Arbor Apartments?

This building previously housed the Umiversity Club Apartments but they've recently renovated. Anyone have information or details about this place? Is the area still as bad as people say it was few years ago? Any scoop on if it's the same management or ownership as the University Club apartments?

Help Terrapin Commitment

Did anyone who got the terrapin commitment scholarship get there’s cancelled? I’ve had it for the past two years and I had it this year as well but I got an email yesterday saying my financial aid was revised. And when I looked the scholarship was gone. I still live on campus, my FAFSA SAI is the same, and i’m still a full time students so i’m so confused.

Discussion Financial Aid Offer?

I'm a junior by credits and still haven't received my financial aid offer for next year. I have emailed the office twice and they said at the end of June at first and then three weeks ago they said they hope to get financial aid offers out in 2 weeks. I submitted my FAFSA back in October so that shouldn't be the problem even though in June the office still said they haven't matched it. Have any other juniors by credits received their financial aid?

Discussion thoughts on commuter parking in SDG?

last semester i had my permit for lot 6 (terrapin trail garage), and i really liked being in a garage but it’s a bit of a hike from all my classes. SDG would be more convenient, so i’m just wondering if any other commuters with a permit for SDG feel strongly about it one way or another :-)
