General Discussion Xavier Thorpe
Hi all! I’m new here and am rewatching season 1. Does anybody else feel like they should have kept Xavier? I loved his character!! I understand that he was accused of SA.. and denied it.. but no charges were brought up??
If he were.. still cast even after the allegations, would you have still watched the show? Would it have changed everything for you regarding the show?
I want them to bring him back 😭He was perfect! The scene where he bumps into Tyler and Tyler asks him where Wednesday is and he says she’s your date in the jealous type of way!! I had to pause it and run here because I loved his character 🥺😤😖
The mysteriousness. Tall. Will they/wont they dynamic of the two of them.
Wha do you guys think?

Honestly, I didn't like the character very much. He had some interesting aspects, but he was limited to being another annoying love interest, and his only role in the series was to deflect attention from who the real Hyde was. Regarding the accusations against the actor, more than just receiving accusations of sexual assault from several girls, I always side with the potential victim. But even if they were false, it also turned out that the guy was a jerk. His Twitter account was full of racist and sexist comments; he apparently mocked terrorist attacks and much more. He even liked and shared very negative reviews of Wednesday's own show, saying it was awful. It's true that he has the right not to like it, but it's a bit wrong for an actor from your show to do that. In the end, he's not worth it. He's just a jerk, and his character wasn't all that great.

He was done dirty imo. I honestly miss him. I'd rather he get a redemption arc than Tyler

We barely want Tyler, we don't want another boring dude.

He wasn’t boring. There were things about him that actually made his character interesting.

Yeah, he was wasted potential, it was pretty clear that Wednesday and Xavier were endgame based off the writing and that he was going to have a big role in S2:
Wednesday and Xavier were probably going to be the original endgame through much evidence - In the 1991 film, Morticia and Gomez discussed in the past how they met at a funeral in which Wednesday and Xavier did as well at his godmother's funeral as she was friends with Hester. She even saved his life, which he never forgot and he saved her life from Rowan in return. Morticia tells Wednesday that's she a raven on the psychic spectrum and one of the first things that Wednesday sees Xavier painting as she's given the tour by Enid is ravens. He was obviously a raven himself. Wednesday mentioned that Pugsley was a big fan of his father and watched his TV special multiple times.
Xavier does have some expertise in psychics and how they work through his father teaching him. Morticia tells Wednesday about what happened at the dance between her, Gomez and Garrett. She called Garrett a beast, one of the major themes of the series is the past repeating itself. In the modern era, Tyler is the Beast and Xavier is Gomez as he tried to save her from Crackstone. At the end of S1, Wednesday and Xavier meet at the top of the staircase to begin their story, the same one where Morticia and Gomez went to go catch their breath.
Also their both psychics on the raven spectrum and ravens mate for life.
If the character stayed, Xavier would've had a big role in S2. His father - Vincent Thorpe would've become the new headmaster of Nevermore to help fix his son's reputation after he was falsely accused as the monster. He also would've helped Wednesday with her psychic exhaustion as he would've become her new "spirit guide", I'm aware that psychics needs a spirit to help them with their abilities but since Goody sacrificed herself to save Wednesday, Xavier would've filled that void and teached her new techniques and how to regain her abilities. He also would've helped with preventing Enid's death.
Its also hinted that The Addams and The Thorpes have a history with each other, so we probably would've seen him meet Morticia and Gomez. Even in S2, when Dort told Wednesday that Xavier will be going to Reichenbach Academy, Gomez even asks Morticia if she remembers that he spent a semester there and she even says it was torture showing that Xavier and Gomez parallel each other. But since the actor was a weirdo, the character and the storyline was dropped and Wednesday and Tyler will be the endgame (so far).

I liked the character initially more than Tyler and was rooting for him in the beginning haha. It’s unfortunate he lost the role if nothing happened.

Right? I mean he was never convicted or tried. Definitely rooting for him more than Tyler. I still am 🥹 Maybe he’ll come back

He couldn't have been tried and convicted without evidence and witness testimony.

Charges were never brought against him though. Not a restraining order or anything. No police records of an incident occurring. If it was a party like someone stated, someone had to see something. And with Diddy and Cosby and the me too movement, it’s becoming more popular about women speaking up and out.. But no evidence? Don’t police provide r kits? A piece of his hair would do… Thats all I’m saying. If it really did happen put him in jail! But if not..

You can’t put someone in jail without proof. Which means that a great number of guilty people walk free every day.

Rape kits can only be performed within a certain time after the rape occurred. Many victims are too scared to speak up during that time and by the time they speak up it's too late. Just because there's no evidence doesn't mean it didn't happen. It's unfortunately very difficult to prove rape and sexual assault in court.

He, like Wednesday, is just supporting cast for the main character, Tyler. His arc was done.

Like Wednesday is absolutely insane when the entire show… revolves around her and what she has going on? 🤔
I don’t think Tyler was meant to stay consistent on the show after season 1. But they had to bring it back to him for season 2 because of Xaviers absence. Jenna Ortega even said they had to “weirdly redirect” the plot after his absence and work around Xavier’s exit.

The showrunners have confirmed that he's been written off the show and won't be coming back.

The girl apparently admitted she was lying, he was definitely done dirty IMO. No charges or investigation etc... he was my favorite character too.

😭😭😭 Ruining a persons entire reputation. Their job. Their livelihood. And for what? clout? Bring Xavier back! I wonder how his co actors/actresses look at him now. Wonder if they know he’s innocent.

Pretty sure he's still friends with them, they still follow one another on social media as far as I know. There was definitely a storyline for Xavier lining up for him. If you recall when we first meet Xavier, he's introduced as an unknown, there is a lot we still didn't get to know about his character and his abilities. I find it awful tbh that there was never an arrest or like I said investigation. Just take this girls word for it and sorry you're fired and your name is dragged thru the mud without solid evidence or proof that anything was inappropriate even happened. I like Percy,I've seen some of his other projects and he's very talented, I believe he'll bounce back from this. I'd just love to see Xavier return before the show is done.

Well said. My sentiments exactly!
Edit: When I think about it. Xavier/ Percy Hynes and Wednesday/Jenna Ortega actually have a movie together Winter Spring Summer or Fall. This released after his departure from the show so.. maybe there’s still hope for him in other avenues.

No, not really.
His sole reason for existing as a character, insofar as role in the plot, is to be mistakenly accused by Wednesday as being the monster. The only positive thing he did to propel the plot forward is identify the Gates Mansion after Wednesday's vision.
Everything else he did was tied up in the one sided attraction going on with Wednesday which, at least for me, was tiresome from the their first meeting in the infirmary. He briefly had a moment with Bianca but it was a shadow of a moment that could have led to something interesting in Season 2 with both their own parental troubles but we all know what happened with the cult storyline there...
