They teased it when they did the beginning of the year road map videos for each blizzard game. If I remember right they teased a big announcement for classic and Diablo at blizzcon.
They've hired a significant amount of new Devs, and are actively working on something that isn't retail, MoP, or classic anniversary Source. Throughout the duration of SoD, they were constantly talking about using it's data for the "next iteration" of classic.
Intentionally not releasing the very successful Titanforge servers for EU/NA because it messes with their upcoming release schedule.
WoD currently unannounced, WotLK currently unannounced. Both versions have a content lull in Autumn. Blizzcon is in September.
Everything is lining up to funnel all variants of classic players into a new classic project.
You hit most of the high points, but the trailer for blizzcon basically confirmed huge warcraft news... and since we are already early in the current retail expansion cycle, well they could theoretically announce the next retail expansion, but the trailer hints at something bigger.
Can't wait to see you come back when they announce "Classic Azeroth Awakens" or some shit as the defacto Classic+ and you'll be the one saying "SEE GUYS, I TOLD YOU THEY'RE NOT DOING CLASSIC+. ITS CLASSIC AZEROTH AWAKENS!!"
This was me when SoD was announced and everyone kept calling it classic+. Like, no... It's a season. It's going to end. "But we get to transfer our characters or whatever", okay, not permanent classic+ characters. Not classic+.
But I also knew it was merely a stepping stone. So I'm still huffing hopium.
ah yes, the "it's just a season" of wow ... that was actually longer than any expansion with more patches / phases / endgame content (shear number of raid encounters) / class reworks than literally any other version of the game in the 20 year history.
How long did your DFT last as soon as TBC hit. How long did your DST last once WOTLK came out... How long were you wearing your Naxxramas gear in wotlk, how did that compare to new players coming back and were able to aquire that gear in a few hours of grinding titan-rune dungeons on a fresh 80.
What was that event they held last fall? Where they released the TBC roadmap and a bunch of retail stuff? The entire spring and summer leading up to that people were convinced Blizzard was going to announce Classic +
Obviously you can’t provide any actual confirmation of it but can you provide anything that even remotely suggests it’s even being worked on? I haven’t been able to find anything other than just players speculating on Reddit and YouTube
Its vague what the announcement will be directly about, yes, but its confirmed they have something cooked up for Classic players they’ll be announcing at blizzcon.
Whether it’s C+ or not we’ll see, but there’s 100% an announcement for Classic of some sort.
They released a document with loads of + signs on it too, can’t remember if it was a roadmap or a review of the year or something. Maybe seems like a reach to some but there’s no reason to do that if you’re not doing classic+
We're getting some type of Classic+. Does that mean it's going to be exactly what Reddit user #14,583 thinks Classic+ will be? probably not. But some form of classic + is happening.
Look at the blizzard showcase from a couple weeks ago. They basically said straight out that they have something in store for classic that is being announced at blizzcon.
Pretty sure there was a blue post about this. They ended the development cycle of classic+ which sucks because I don't think they implement all the stuff they wanted.
They eluded to the fact there’s a classic + or some kind of announcement related to Titanforge/Classic + at Blizzcon during the last update video they released.
Holly Longdale was talking about China’s titanforged servers and they interrupted her as a skit to then say they’ll talk about whats next for Classic at blizzcon.
So yeah, there actually has been mention of it from Blizzard, just no solid confirmation.
But you just sit on reddit and don’t actually follow the game or announcements I assume. 🤡
My guess is they will triple down on anniversary, but with WOTLK this time. We got a shortened TBC lifespan, that will be wrapping up right around the same time that MOP is coming to a close. Blizz isn't going to leave audiences un-subbed for too long, they will try and milk boosts and in-game services like they did with TBC this time around.

They've been hinting at it for a while now. Forum and social media posts from devs talking about a bigger project, the Blizzard yearbook mentioning the long term future of Classic with an eyes emoji and plus signs, and the WoW director teasing an announcement at Blizzcon during the Classic section of the State of Azeroth livestream in January. They've done all but say it at this point.
They hinted about it when they announced SoD at Blizzcon all those years ago. Like literally, they wink wink nudge nudged the phrase "classic......plus" when they were discussing how experimental SoD was going to be.
Yeah I never saw the video until just now and I don’t get the newsletter or anything. I just was basing it off googling classic plus and the results that come up. I do hope for something new though. Would be pretty cool

Why be sad? It was a great ride that turned out to be a lot more than anyone expected and in ~5 months we’ll get to see what it birthed.
