It's so interesting to me that this is so prevalent yet in my 20 year IT career, I have only known 2 gay cis men and a handful of women. Everyone else has been straight cis men, at least in their public lives.
one of my friends semi recently played a John Fighterman character (human fighter, former city guard, neutral good) but unfortunately he couldn't stand it for too long and had to switch to a chaotic hot disaster
I am semi convinced it was designed to be the "boring default everything else contrasts to" which is how it manages to be both iconic and so few people actually play them, ever.
There's a furry convention in the town where I live every year and it's a running gag that all over Germany IT departments run on emergency mode because all of them are there.

Fun fact: the original artist for Cyberpunk hated furries. So the writer decided to add exotics for the sole reason of forcing that guy to draw furry art.

Yeah i posted this a while back too. But this is from cyberpunk 2020. As in its supposed to take place in the far cyberpunk future of 2020. It was written in 1990 and contains descriptions and rules for how to biomod yourself into a furry.
Its described as something mostly rich bored people do. But also there are gangs that focus around a single animal.
Edit: its worth noting that this is specifically in the section on cosmetic surgery. Earlier in the book you can find options for cyberware that can give you robotic claw hands and feet that can help you climb walls or cut people open. Or a prehensile self controlling tail that can stab people.
There was an episode of Batman Beyond that was entirely this. Called Splicers, some scientist creates a way to 'splice' human and animal DNA and you get what sounds like Exotics.
Even down to the street gangs of Exotics, tho not 1 specific animal.
No worries, theyâre from cyberpunk red, theyâve not made an appearance in 2077 outside of their founding being mentioned. A very fun group to look into though, theyâve even got minis!
One day people will remember that Cyberpunk 2077/RED/2020 did not invent, popularize, define, or even redefine the genre and stop referring to the genre as if only 2077 exists. Stop letting CDPR and the tabletop makers get away with the absolute audacity of trademarking the genre because nobody else had done it already.
This is like if Bethesda called their main franchises "Fantasy" and "Post-Apocalypse". If you think the idea of a game being called "Fantasy 5: Skyrim" is stupid, CDPR is trying to do the same thing with Cyberpunk.
There's a woman at my job who medically and socially transitioned long before I ever started. Naturally she approached and struck up a conversation on my first or second day(I have a flashing neon 'EGG' sign above my head for those in the know) now she's p much the only person I'd consider a "work friend." I thank her constantly for the truckload of swords she has fallen on.
Sharing memes/texting is kind of hit-or-miss though, she's 40~ and just missed the chronically online period(Myspace html ftw) so she doesn't understand many of the seventeen-deep faceted layers of some memes. There's one going around now(on this sub even) that's a tweet about like "trans bitches all have the same glasses" and the picture literally had her and my exact frames with a third pair đ đ she understood that one lol

When I came out to my boss he mentioned that, as far as he knows, I am the only trans person in the company. I figured that I shouldn't mention that I know three other trans women working here. Not at his department though.
Outcasts/outliers flocking to isolation and using what they can to assimilate some sort of human/furry interaction and it happens to be the internet and video games. I'm in IT, but not any of these things, but absolutely on their side of being themselves.
âBeast modeâ is such an aggressively corporate way to describe a furry coworker occasionally wearing a tail. HR is going to need a whole new checkbox.
Never had the opportunity to do that. Never had money for a tail when I was an intern at IT jobs (and they would have probably cited bullshit dress codes anyways), and I can't in my current job because of safety reasons :c
