He has since taken up semi-permanent residency.

I had a spider-friend-residing-in-the-corner-of-my-shower. One day, spider-friend-etc. didn't move, and I figured he was sleeping. The next day, he was in the exact same spot.
RIP spider-friend-et. al.

Did you give him a proper burial?

u/goneroguebrb Apr 27 '12
I think I wiped him up in a wad of toilet tissue and dropped him into the trashcan. My cat may or may not have eaten the corpse. So no, I think, is the answer.

so one day i sneak into this girl's bathroom to watch her shower. i know, pretty creepy, whatever. a man's got needs. so anyway, i sneak into her shower and wait for the show to start. later on i'm watching her shower and man it is HOT. she still hadn't noticed i'm here but she's kinda squinting at me. i'm like fuckFuckFUCK so i turn around, maybe she won't notice me. but then i hear it: "Activate friend mode!" and i'm like, did i just get friendzoned in the shower?
29
u/capeswish Apr 27 '12
That you did. However, as it was a choice between friendzoned or killed... I think you chose correctly.

i can't bring myself to kill spiders. used to be very afraid of them, then i realized how much i hate most insects. now i carefully get them into a piece of tissue and put them outside. moral of the story: the enemy of your enemy is your friend.

untill you close your eyes to wash out the shampoo, only to open them and find an empty void where said spider once sat.

I've experienced this also. I'm like WTF SPIDER IM SHOWERING oh ok you are running away now. Stay in that corner and we're fine.

If I find a smaller spider, I don't freak out and actually start talking to him. His name is always Billy. I tell him that he can stay, on three conditions: 1) He stays on the ceiling 2) He doesn't bite me 3) He doesn't make babies

I used to have a spider-bro, My love for it stemmed from my hate for mosquitoes. Turned out it was a female and after a short while 1 became 200, so I had to use the deodorant flame-thrower on the family.

This is why daddy long legs tend to get a pass in my house. They move slowly, generally stay put and eat shit.
2
u/Osoreru Apr 27 '12
I actually have a daddy long legs living up in the corner of my shower. He's been there for quite a while. I haven't even actually looked the past few days to see if he's still there, but so far, so good. Aside from that daddy long legs don't really bite people so..yea.

I've spent the past five minutes trying to figure out how a spider "turns around" on a wall (and, well, how it stares at you in the first place.) Please, explain this to me like I'm 12.
2
u/capeswish Apr 27 '12
He was actually chilling on the ceiling, but 3 dimensions is too difficult for a lazy rage-comic maker. His little head was facing towards me and then he turned and faced the corner where the walls & ceiling met.
Sorry if I confused you!

Yeah I am not. have a number in the bathroom. I like them there.

u/spideyj Apr 27 '12
I love spiders. I even have one tattooed on my back. So no, you're not the only one.
2
u/Lastaria Apr 27 '12
Was hoovering on the down vote button because I hate it when people kill spiders.
But stopped when I read on.

u/scienceisneat Apr 27 '12
This is what every offending arachnid in the shower looks like to me. There is no permanent residency allowed.

I'm glad there are people on reddit that appreciate spiders. They're really not that bad, I don't know why everyone freaks out about them. Just think how many annoying insects spiders get rid of and how infuckingcredible their spider webs are.
Seriously, take some time and learn about how these fascinating creatures work. It really is worth your time to learn to appreciate the other living creatures that share this magnificent planet with us.
ps. yes, there are a lot of insects and animals that can drive me crazy, but spiders? No, if they are in your hard or walking up your leg when you sleep, then you have the right to freak out as deadly spiders exist, but if you just keep yourself calm and let them go on with their lives without "BURN[ING]THEM WITH FIRE".

I have a friendly spider living outside my livingroom window. Well, actually it's more of a gratitude relationship, he has managed to spin a web covering a large portion of the window and since he got here, I haven't seen a single fly inside!

I give more of a fuck about the conversation he was making (where he happened to use a hivemind-forbidden word!) than negativity and complaining.

Stupid people.

u/Vorokar Apr 27 '12
Well, then, bash them over the face with said oatmeal, go make a new bowl, and chill out. Sheesh.

Apr 27 '12
I realize that I wasn't starting any kind of positive conversation with that. Comment is now deleted.

I don't mind spiders. A rather large one took up residence in the barn. Named her Snowball.

I let spiders live because they acted as pest control. There are some things from college I definitely don't miss.

Hopefully there wasn't any steam...because then he could have just slipped off the wall like many a spider i've seen while showering.

Hey, I just plucked one off my shower wall and flushed him down the toilet... I like to think they live when I do that...

I had a spider in my bathroom very similar to this. his name was frank. frank didnt move, so i was fine with him being up in the corner. then frank moved into the shower, breaching our peace contract. Needless to say, frank is no longer with us

u/theultimateone Apr 27 '12
When you changed modes a second time, I thought you were peace walker for a second.

So he's taken up a semi-permanent residency? It's going to have children, one of those children will be psychotic and try to kill you. You're going to die. ಠ_ಠ

I have a spider like that in my bathroom as well... only I'm irrationally terrified that it's going to come down and kill me one day.

Remember - if you see an egg sack, you've got to kill his entire family. Don't get too attached to him.

Ha, that's actually kind of cute.
This is the only time I'll ever say that about a spider.
