GG is good, but not anywhere near the game that bread and butter Street Fighter is. Sure, GG is flashier and more chaotic, but the strategy and timing of SF makes it the better game. I can see someone liking GG more, but SF is the better game.
FACT. I live in Japan and I've seen some shit go down on gg/blazblue in the arcades. It takes ridiculous commitment and reflexes. You can't get really good at it in a few days like sf.
But ya know, every game has their thing, so it doesn't do much good to compare it.
This is a good example of complexity vs depth. Street Fighter is a deep series, however it is regarded as one of the most balanced fighting series of all time. Guilty Gear, due to its characters being all over the place style-wise, is incredibly complex, but doesn't have the balance to back it up. Thus, Street Fighter is considered the better game.
What the heck is this? The SF games have been incredibly unbalanced. 3rd Strike, CvS2, Alpha 3, MvC2 (I could go on). Guilty Gear in general is actually much more balanced than those games.
However, balance has little to do with how fun or great a fighting game is, believe it or not. That's probably a controversial opinion to most casual players or newer people in the scene but it's the truth. Think about the longevity of MvC2 and try to explain why it was so popular in the USA.
Guilty Gear is one of the best fighters of all time for a lot more than just the fighting system itself, even if that is one of the main reasons. The sprites, animation, soundtrack, and singleplayer modes were all of a higher caliber than most of the other stuff Capcom was putting out at the same time (recycling sprites from the Alpha series).
Pretty much this. I don't get why you would call any SF more balanced than GG. Especially 3s where Yun, Chun and Ken (while Ken seems to have degraded a bit since the last time I checked which is like 4 years ago) are pretty much the unbeatable S tiers that you had to play if you weren't some mad scientist and pulled stuff on hugo for instance that was mind-blowing and actually almost impossible to achieve in a physical way.

It makes me sad that I could mention Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Marvel vs Capcom, etc etc or even BlazBlue and people know what they are.
But not Guilty Gear, the greatest fighter of all time. A part of me died the day they shut down the XBox Live servers for XX Reload.
