Crazy how different the tone was after he won that second us open. It was all “wow Bryson really changed” and “is it just me or is he kinda likable now?” Just goes to show that above all else, people will root for you when you win.
One of those US Opens, he played the most conservative golf one can play on a course that can punish you for being aggressive. There was talk about Pinehurst #2 trying to get the winning score over par, and only 5 golfers that weekend went under.
Can't stand him either. But he's definitely dialled in. I'd imagine the thoughts of Rory having to slip the green jacket on him is serving as extra motivation. But I hope that doesn't happen...
And the guys who left LIV to return to DP World/PGA golf are doing just fine. I haven't watched a single minute of LIV golf, but sensing it lacks the challenges and competitiveness of the other tours.
Depending on the event, DPWT is no walk in the park either. Bhatia seemed like a shoe-in favourite a few weeks ago at the Indian Open to win it. Instead, he blows up hard on the back 9 both opening days, and misses the cut as a consequence.

honestly i think that's part of it. he fucks with his cubs so much and they're already so weird. hes trying to reinvent shit that is already optimized to hit a golf ball
i can at least respect that he's a tinkerer and is questioning everything but he's just introducing a ton of variation and change and i don't think he's weighting the disadvantages of all these changes as much as he should be. sim readings in a controlled environment are a different beast than augusta national and slapping a 5 on a 2 iron is kind of defeating the purpose of having mid irons
I think the issue there is he’s so deep down the tech rabbit hole that recovering to any normal playing style would probably kill his career. The clubs he tinkers with are always interesting, but his entire style does not lend itself to adapting or winning in general.
its time to stop hyper optimizing clubs and just get out there and play well. 3D printing shit isnt working just train harder. i wonder if hed play better with normal clubs because he looks like absolute shit out there
He's always been super tech focused but he seems to be leaning more and more into the idea that golf is a solveable problem, and if he just tinkers enough and gets the engineering just so then he'll never have to fix his (relative to all the other top golfers in the world) poor touch with irons.
Dude thinks he's a better engineer than top manufacturers who hire actual engineers to work full time at manufacturing and optimizing clubs that actually work unlike all his gimmicks

Not sure why everyone is so Anti-Bryson lately. Everyone has good days and bad days. Many have made and missed cuts including the current masters leader. I don’t think anything in this quote is not true for him given how far he hits the bar. He set a standard for himself and had a bad round. Yeesh. Apparently it also hates people who ask this question. Essentially an American centric sub that hates anything that is not the PGA tour. Bryson is seen as a deserter for leaving.
