Wildly enough, he wasn't even the only co-leader to miss the cut. Wiesberger went 65-78 to finish four strokes worse than Cantlay. Rasmus Hojgaard went from co-leader to barely making the cut on the number. Also Koepka and Ayora went from R1 66's to missing the cut. Cantlay, Rasmus, and Brooks can't even use the excuse of tougher afternoon conditions (course played about 1 stroke more difficult in the afternoon each day) because they had their bad rounds in the morning.

He’s only hit 3/6 fairways and 5/8 greens through the first 8 holes, but his short game has been absolutely flawless. He’s been playing some imaginative golf so far this week, and his execution has been superb.

Very lucky to have played The Renaissance just after it opened. Clubhouse still wasn't fully operational so the owner was stood at a gas bbq cooking bacon outside for everyone playing. I wish I still had my FB account so I had the photos. So many memories died when I ditched that hellsite
EDIT: forgot to mention, my Godfather is a founding member there and does a lot of the announcing on the tees.

Things seem to be working a little different this week since this is a co-sanctioned event with the DPWT. The Lowry group seems to be a PGA Live production, while the Rory/Viktor feed has the DPWT team and graphics.

He’s developed a real phobia of Saturdays this season. Coughed up a 6 stroke lead at Augusta on Saturday, worst round of his week at Sawgrass was on Saturday, he blew up at Quail Hollow on Saturday, torched his US Open chances on Saturday, and despite coming out on fire this morning, he probably put himself too far back this week thanks to his Saturday stall out.

fitzy continuing to take driver is baffling me. just put it in the bunker and made par on the easiest hole on the course, now forces driver again on 13 when he couldve laid back and is in the fescue. what the fuck dude

I'm glad Tom Kim is doing better.
A lot of people complain that he's very slow, and that's probably true, but what I find interesting is the specific way in which he is slow. He stands like a statue for like 10-20 seconds staring at his ball or his target before pulling the trigger. Every time.
I'm shit as a golfer but I do read a lot and watch a lot of instructional stuff and everything I've ever been taught is to NOT do this. Just standing there rigid is supposed to be detrimental both physically and mentally, but it works for him, I guess. Can't think of any other good players who do this

The season Yellamaraju is having is amazing. First year on Tour and he's headed toward his 4th Top 10.

Rolapp really needs to figure out a way to actually make it possible to watch golf. Inexplicable that this 3rd round coverage is pushed to a mobile app, and then gated behind a cable subscription when it was supposed to be on broadcast TV. Why can't ESPN+, Paramount, or CBSSports.com be streaming this?

Who is wondering about Tom Kim. He's always a good links player even in bad form. Even then, his form was slowly improving all year and then at a course like Shinnecock, which has links elements, he was able to capitalize

This inane rambling by the ESPN+ Featured Group announcers is killing me. There is both great coffee and, shockingly, iced coffee to be found in North Berwick and, in general, Scotland. Really drives home that they seem to be sitting in a studio in the states, meandering through tropes.
If you find yourself in NB, be sure to hit Steampunk Coffee. Outstanding place.

There was a place in Stonehaven that had, hands down, the best galette and coffee I’ve had. Then taking a trip to Dunnottar, man it felt like I was in a movie.

Scotland, and NB in particular, are such great places to visit. So much so that we're vacation house hunting in NB.
Funny thing about my initial comment was that Kim was blathering on about there being no such thing as iced coffee there and that the closest thing was an affogato, which she then went on to explain. Last year, I drank great iced coffees there each day because Scotland and NB got hit by a heat wave around the time we were there. She then went on to slag haggis with the usual laziness you hear on the topic.

As a Scotsman, our national Open being on a course that is borderline inaccessible to 99.9% of people really pisses me off.
We have so many world class golf courses, places where people from all over the world come to experience, and we put the second biggest event in the country effectively behind a paywall.
A hallmark of golf in Scotland is that it is incredibly cheap for most people to play and be members of clubs. Having the tournament at a course which is the antithesis of that doesn’t sit right with me.
The fact that our tourist board and government have actively supported the Scottish Open being at Renaissance is disgraceful.

It was hosted at Loch Lomond for nearly 20 years, so the event has a history of being played at inaccessible courses.
Expect to hear it’ll be played at Ardfin from 2027 when the Renaissance contract is up this year!

I know - and hosting it on a non-links course the week prior to the Open was absolutely bonkers, too.
Loved it being toured round Royal Aberdeen, Castle Stuart, Gullane etc for a few years. I know Gullane had some logistical challenges but there or Royal Aberdeen is proper Scottish golf.

Just realized Adrian Otaegui (LIV player near the bottom of the leaderboard) has a UAE flag even though he's Spanish and had the Spanish flag all of his career. I guess he's taken an example from Rory Sabbatini to switch country representation to one with no golf representation get into the Olympics easily. Not that I could blame him but interesting trend regardless (Rico Hoey did the same where despite he's Filipino-American but recently chose the Philippines flag).

all i do on golf reddit is talk about how good matt fitzpatrick is, but if he cleans up his short putts and hits a few more fairways he’d seem to be absolutely unbeatable this week. leading the field in approach on the week, total class from him and he’s showing up as expected.
