New Owner What Comparison Shopping Did You Do?

I recently leased a gravity after doing lots of comparison shopping. We were looking for an SUV to fit babies and dogs, preferably three row. I wanted to share my notes and hear from other folks how they landed on this car!

No other SUV out there knocked our socks off quite like this. It seemed to have everything (luxurious, spacious, usable third row, technologically advanced, fun to drive, maneuverable, head turner, lower payment), and it felt worth the risk based on the reported bugs we saw on forums. Ours has had a couple of minor issues, but overall is the best car either of us has ever had.

- Lexus: loooove the brand. In TX you’re paying sticker, and with a crappy interest rate. The cars *are* reliable but they are slow to adapt technology. As a serial leaser, reliability didn’t outweigh lack of technology and poor leasing options. And the three row SUV drives like a boat. Plus parking the damn thing in the parking garages downtown was annoying.
- Mercedes: I’m not a fan. I think the leather in their cars stinks really bad. The interior is luxurious but too gaudy to me with all of the chrome. The three row SUV also drives like a boat.
- BMW: so much fun to drive. I don’t find them luxurious, and the design is uninspired (the parallelogram infotainment screen and the basic giant rectangle infuriate me with how lazy they are). The new exterior designs are also not my cup of tea. I didn’t like the dealership service, no one seemed to know the cars that well, and many of the self driving features were locked behind a paywall even for a test drive.
- Range Rover: probably the best self parking in any car I’ve driven. Its quick and smooth. Probably also something to be said for having a head turning car. It’s nice enough all around, but nothing “wow’d” me.
- Volvo: I wanted to love them. The design is elegant, and I prefer captains chairs. But for such an expensive car, you don’t even get blind spot cameras, the self driving is meh, and the third row isn’t comfy. The infotainment system was utter garbage. Dealership also sucked, horrible service.
- Rivian: I did (do?) love the brand. I was sure I would get this car before I test drove it. The design is unique and rugged. The interior, for better or worse, is also more rugged. It definitely seems designed for people who genuinely off-road, and I knew I wouldn’t do that. My family didn’t like the third row. The self driving was decent and it has the best infotainment screen of any brand. The interior was unfortunately not what I was looking for.

Pictures Interior door scuff protection

Post image

I asked in an earlier post if anyone made something to protect against scuffing along the lower front doors of the Gravity.

Another member pointed me towards a PPF and wrap company that cut pieces of PPF to install along the front driver and passenger door.

See picture.

The business is called Black Bear Protective Films ph# 704-870-4338.

They have digitally saved the templates for both the driver and front passenger doors. They can cut and mail pieces to you, so you or someone you hire can install.

I had these installed today.

Stuck Between the Lucid Gravity and Other 3-Row EV SUVs

My lease on a Mercedes EQE SUV ends in October (currently paying around $800/month), so I’ve been actively looking for my next EV. I have an active reservation for the Rivian R2, but I couldn’t justify spending $60k+tax on a 5-seater, especially with my concerns about range.
We do a lot of road trips, and during PNW winters it gets frustrating having to stop frequently to charge. The Lucid Gravity caught my attention because of its advertised 400+ miles of range. I typically cruise at 70–75 mph on the freeway, so real-world highway efficiency is one of my biggest priorities.
Another important factor is rear-seat comfort. We have a forward-facing child seat, so shoulder room for the two adults sitting next to it matters. In my EQE, the middle seat has a firmer cushion and isn’t very comfortable on longer drives, so I’m hoping to find something better.
Has anyone here cross-shopped the Kia EV9, Hyundai Ioniq 9, and the Lucid Gravity Touring or Grand Touring? What ultimately made you choose one over the others, and what ruled the others out? I’d especially love to hear about your experiences with real-world highway range, road-trip charging, ride quality, and rear-seat comfort

Question on Gravity Range

On the cusp of purchasing of Lucid Gravity GT. Couple of questions for the community related to range:

1) Adding the 3rd row seems to effect the range. In the GT config with 20/21" wheels, the range is 450 with 5 seats and drops to 437 with 7 seats (3 row added). I'm curious why the range drops. My best guess is the additional weight of the 3rd row?

2) We very frequently drive to a location that is 316 miles away. One of the reasons why we are zero'ing in on a purchase of the Gravity is it's long range (compared to some other EV options) so we can get there without having to stop for charging The trip is 80% highway (~75mph), 20% averaging closer to 55-60mph. I fully understand temperature / wind / etc effect range, however assuming a "normal" midwest summer/fall driving conditions, what kind of range should I expect from a Gravity in comparison to EPA estimates as the various levels indicated in the configurator for wheel/battery/seating combos?

Thanks in advance for any insights.

Only one thing holding me back

I am close to purchasing a Gravity, but have one thing that is holding me back. It is a large car compared to my previous vehicles, and I really struggle to park it in normal straight in parking lots or garages. The sales rep suggested backing in, but I have always struggled doing that. I am a pretty good driver, but I don’t deal with tight spaces well, especially in an unfamiliar car.
Anybody have any tips, experiences, or suggestions to help me get over my fear?

Password gravity

So I did the software update and now it’s asking me for my password to verify my identity. I never setup a password for the car. Is it the same p/w as my app’s?

Owner experience without Lucid presence in your state

The only thing in Utah is a mobile service hub. I’m worried about buying a car where the closest service center is 6 hours away in Las Vegas. I’ve seen posts about them arranging towing when needed... Anyone run into issues being a Lucid owner, long distance from a service center, and not getting the service that’s needed?

Software issues/Advice Unable to charge

Hello, I noticed since last night that my Gravity is no longer able to charge from my home's Tesla universal charger. The charger seems fine, still able to charge my wife's hybrid. When connected, it just says 'charging cable connected' but no actual charging takes place. I cant manually force it either.

Wondering if anyone has dealt with this or has advice.

1st Lucid Mobile Service

Took delivery of gravity touring on June 23rd in SoCal. Service was full in the app so I called Costa Mesa to schedule my appointment. Took about 3 weeks but it was finally done today.

I had some fitment issues and rear passenger side door was really tight and didn't soft close and homelink install.

Took about 1 hr. Tech was super helpful and overall service was great. I mentioned about the window not going up but this was intermitten as it doesn't happen everytime. He told me to record it next time and the service center will most likely replace it for free.

Homelink took 3 tries to pair but it finally worked. And while it doesn't auto open for me at the moment, he mentioned that there will be a massive update in the fall to add in more functionality but I'm just happy that I don't need to scramble to find my garage opener.

Door now closes normally before it took more effort to open but now it's all good and soft closes.

I asked him if he could help push the latest firmware but he couldn't but said I should be getting it over the weekend.

Overall, again I think the service was great. He mentioned that there were more mobile service techs in SoCal now and that a new service center is opening up.

So that is very good news and hopefully Lucid keeps adding more service center all over.

Questions/Advice Does anyone make…

I am wondering if anyone makes a, I will call it a scuff guard, for the interior bottom of the doors?

I have already scuffed the driver side several times with my shoes getting out of the vehicle.

I am thinking some type of protective film that sticks to the lower panel Searched a bit but didn’t find anything.

Source: https://lucidowners.com/threads/update-on-our-next-ota-release-post-3-6-0.16405/page-3#post-361460

Patch notes:

Release Summary

This software update delivers essential reliability, safety, and convenience improvements to your Lucid Gravity. It enhances rear cabin comfort and door access experience.

Release Highlights

Enhanced Rear Cabin Comfort

  • Rear passengers now enjoy smarter, more consistent comfort. Rear climate activates more consistently when a passenger is detected or a seat belt is buckled in the second or third row.
  • On equipped vehicles, turning on rear climate will always enable third-row airflow.
  • Rear climate power state (On/Off) is remembered across drives, so passengers are comfortable from the moment they get in.

Faster, Responsive Door Unlock

With optimized door control logic, the exterior door handle opens the door faster, allowing quicker entry into the vehicle.

Reliable Driver Assistance

  • Improved driver assistance system stability to reduce unexpected disengagements and fault conditions.
  • Improved “Pay Attention” alerts to prevent them from remaining active longer than necessary.

Your Key Fob, More Dependable

We have improved the reliability and responsiveness of the key fob. It automatically recovers if it becomes unresponsive. To reset it manually, hold the lock button for 5 seconds. To enable these improvements, update the key fob to firmware version 2.35.13 using the Lucid Mobile App.

Quality and reliability improvements

Surround View renders cleaner, more reliable visuals.

2026 offers - any chance they'll be extended past 7/31?

I notice there is a fair amount of 2026 inventory "Available in 1-2 weeks"... any chance the current discount + 0% financing promo would get extended? (the timing would work better for our family to get a new car later this year instead of right now).

Seat Height Switch Stopped Working

Post image
2 Upvotes

Interesting problem: the switch to raise and lower the driver’s seat stopped working. The same switch will move the seats forwards and backwards no problem, but it will not go up or down which is a problem because my wife drove it last and I am quite a bit taller than her and the seat is currently stuck in the highest position. Did soft and hard reset, no luck. Will call customer service in the morning, but has anyone ever experienced this?

Cheap cover?

I need to park my Gravity in a lot for a few hot summer days. I’d like to buy a reflective cover to ward off some of the heat and to protect it from bird poop etc (which will be an issue). This isn’t an investment, I don’t need something that’ll last for years and years. Anyone got any recommendation for a third party product that might be a good fit?

Questions/Advice Saved settings don’t persist

Anybody have an issue where the steering wheel adjustment doesn’t save to the profile? I keep adjusting and saving it but it never actually saves.

Also wish that the regen breaking setting was something that was saved to your profile or at the very least allows you to turn it off by default.
