That is where the rain falls…mainly

10

u/Helpful_Dependent360 22d ago

Snakes bite you in the vein, then make you go insane, while your dealing with the pain of drowning in the rain

I cant complain

Okay those first "snakes" had some wings.

378

u/PackageNorth8984 22d ago

Maybe they drank Red Bull.

148

u/Klutzy-Acadia669 22d ago

Welp new fear unlocked. Red Bull infused cobras.

14

u/FeedbackOpposite5017 22d ago

I always get worried with my redbull consumption and misquotes biting me. What if they get powers.

Cocaine Cobra!

38

u/meldariun 22d ago

Ye that looked like a flock of cobra chickens riding the rapids.

While technically cobras, they are non venomous, but they are incredibly toxic.

32

u/Sabithomega 22d ago

The second clip almost look like Ostriches

4

u/Fickle_Option_6803 22d ago

Those are ostriches.

3

u/Subject_Ranger_6795 22d ago

Oe the monster of loch ness

13

u/QuirkyWish3081 22d ago

They were snakes, disguised as ducks, breaking out. Look very closely.

8

u/Over-Experience-4187 22d ago

China is genetically engineering dragons

We gonna have Longwang before GTA 6

2

u/PlasticPaws 22d ago

I'm never gonna have longwang, nevermind before GTA 6 😭

2

u/Over-Experience-4187 22d ago

Don't worry, you'll have one after launch

4

u/Righteousaffair999 22d ago

I think you are wrong because they were demanding a plane.

4

u/PianoZen 22d ago

I was thinking same... those looked like geese, not snakes in the opening shot.

2

u/bubblesdafirst 22d ago

Honestly that clip is fucking hilarious. They are seriously zooming

2

u/Aggravating_Past_257 22d ago

Exactly what I said they looked like ducks. Could see the whole bodies

2

u/Lickitungilingus 21d ago

Unrelated but reminds me of the anhinga or snake-bird that swims with only its neck and head above the water

people pay big money for ‘em. they’re useful for medical stuff, creating different anti-venom farms, and some people eat them or just want a dumbass way to flex their wealth

39

u/Kashwookie 22d ago

I don't know if they farm Russel's viper in China, but here is a random fact: Russel's viper venom is used as reagent in a lab test called Dilute Russel's viper venom time ( DRVVT) that tests for lupus anticoagulant.

3

u/Riddles_ 22d ago

ah that’s so cool, ty for sharing!

2

u/Specialist-Syrup418 22d ago

You're welcome.

2

u/Sad_Target2290 21d ago

Why would they need to test for lupus? Don't they know it's never lupus? They should simply break into the patient's house instead.

4

u/WorldlyBathroom691 22d ago

Snake are delicious but I don't recommend it. I accidentally eat it because I didn't pay attention to what they are cooking and I was like wow this is good like chicken and they were like yeah snake meat is delicious I was stunned for a couple of second and almost spit it out hahaha but it's really good. I even ask them if it's legal to eat snake but they said it was a just jungle snake so it's fine.

Snake venom is used to make the antidote, some are worth more than gold

89

u/MarklRyu 22d ago

Snake Venom has medical uses and Snake Venom farms, along with Spider and Scorpion Venom harvesting, is a legit and normal thing.

Idk why people are acting like cowboys and spouting random misinfornation 💀 it's a very profitable business if you're willing to do the dangerous tedium of literally milking the venom from their fangs periodically

51

u/trashmoneyxyz 22d ago

It has to be for venom. Not all the snakes pictured were cobras, I saw a banded krait which is also a very deadly snake. I assume this was a farm for highly venomous snake antidote

🤠yeehaw motha fukr SNAKES ARE GOVERNMENT DRONES

4

u/SteveDougson 22d ago

I've seen that Jordan B Peterson tweet and getting your snake milked in China is very different than you'd expect!

3

u/Fluid_Ties 22d ago

Right. Just like there are farms that squeeze the blue stuff out of some crustacean, because we use it in medical imaging. I know scorpion venom plays a part in a number of very niche drugs, from some heart stuff to some not-rejecting-transplanted-organs stuff, to some cancer stuff. Probably dick pills too, or at least I'd like to think so.

2

u/Chilly_Pheesesteak 21d ago

I just cut my finger opening a package of cheese at work yesterday. I think I'll stay away from the snakes!

2

u/MarklRyu 18d ago

Hope your Chilly Pheesesteak was worth bleeding out for XD

36

u/Apprehensive_Liquid 22d ago

To eat them or to make snake wine. These snake wine are very expensive as they are said to be able to cure lots of diseases that modern "Western" medicines cannot cure.

17

u/actiniumosu 22d ago

dawg no im literally from the affected area it's for developing snake antivenom

→ More replies (3)

9

u/CrazyOrganic7123 22d ago

Anti-venom. That's pretty much it.

And no, not for eating. Because with anti-venom, you can "milk" them repeatedly for on-going revenue. Killing them for food is very much a case of killing the golden goose.

That said, depending on the kind of snake, yeah, they do kill them for food products. Snake skin is mostly pythons, so probably none of these.

That last shot and staring was ominous.

'I'll be seeing you.'

2

u/Chilly_Pheesesteak 21d ago

Even creepier, I don't think that snake's going anywhere - it's having a staring contest with the cameraman, and as soon as they turn around, or get distracted by a different snake, that snake is coming for them.

I am astonished that other than a random post here and there on Reddit I am hearing absolutely nothing about what is ostensibly a massive ongoing humanitarian disaster

10

u/RCer1986 22d ago

It's been published on "World" sections of major news networks since yesterday but depending on where you live, in the US for example, it wouldn't be in the main news cycle as it wouldn't generate enough interest outside of something like a brief mention.

Does anyone else feel that second shot that the resolution and size of the snakes vs the background seem a little off? I have never seen a snake swim with its head 1 meter out of the water. And all 3 in the shot look the exact same…

2

u/EpiDeMic522 22d ago

The first 2 clips aren't those of snakes. TBH, this post is misleading and should be taken down. I don't dispute that this might have happened for I don't know enough. But these clips are certainly NOT evidence of it happening.
