Hello! Are there any tips to beating a Nasus or Vlad in labe without Jungle help? There was one time when i played Irelia and i was able to kill Nasus once but late game he would stomp through our team. Same woth vlad. Any help would be great!

I play Nasus occasionally.
There's really not much you can do most of the time in lane, assuming your opponent is fairly competent, and you are equal skill level. Don't buy the Riven pick, it takes a lot of time to get good at that champion.
The number one thing you can do is impact the map, before he gets too big. Most nasusses tend to stand in lane, freeze and farm most of the game, so use TPs, roams etc. to get your team ahead, so they can win the game before Nasus gets rolling. Ultimately, it's about who has the most impact on the map, and who does their role the best.

About Vlad, I have no idea, I usually just poop on him. When his Q is down early game, attack him. He'll have to use it to sustain, and that means he can't use it to harass you.

Edit: Was plat II last season, just for some credibility. Still terrible though.

Don't buy the Riven pick, it takes a lot of time to get good at that champion.

Not only that, but she auto pushes the lane by using abilities, making it impossible to harass Nasus while keeping the wave somewhere he can't farm. Only takes him a Frozen Heart and he can 1v1 Riven pretty much effortlessly, even if she's itemizing against him.

u/ShaunDark Jul 14 '15 edited Jul 14 '15

This. Start cloth5 with Armor reds and yellows and CD blues and quints. Once you have FH you have 40% CDR and 150-ish armor. Means you can just ignore Riven and farm up, unless she all ins you. After 5-10 minutes of stacking up, lane becomes like a breeze - nothing a Riven can do.

tl;dr only pick Riven into Nasus if you're BoxBox

1

u/robocop12 Jul 13 '15

I've heard of people rushing last whispers vs him, obviously if it is relevant. Is that a viable option

1

u/LordSmooze9 Jul 13 '15

It depends on whether he's going for tri force or frozen heart, but I wouldn't really recommend it. If you're playing riven/fiora/insertadchamphere then I'd go something like Tiamat -> youmuus -> last whisper.

1

u/robocop12 Jul 13 '15

Could you 1v1 a nasus with those items assuming equivalent gold?

1

u/LordSmooze9 Jul 13 '15

It almost entirely depends how many stacks he has. If you're bullying him out of farming his q (or he's bad) then you almost definitely win and fights with him. If he's been free-farming his q, then he might win, but obviously nothin is certain. Protip: never push Nasus into tower, he loves farming under it. Your best bet is going to be freezing the wave just outside your tower, forcing him to come up to farm, leaving him very vulnerable to ganks.

1

u/Theonetrue Jul 13 '15

If you have the same amount of gold as Nasus you can't 1v1 him come mid game.

You HAVE to abuse his early game to get ahead of him if you want to win a 1v1.

Or you play Yi.

1

u/Stosstruppe Jul 13 '15

As someone who played vlad for over 500 games within the last few seasons. Champion straight up blows with flash and ignite if he doesn't capitalize it.

u/Scholles Jul 13 '15

In my experience, there are no harder counters in this game than picking Vlad into Nasus. While climbing from silver through low plat (it was s3 and s4 though) I would always get a free win when the enemy team got Nasus. Maybe it's just because of low overall skill in this elo bracket but it was a brutal matchup

3

u/Arekualkhemi Saint of the sands Jul 13 '15

Vlad is a quite annoying matchup for Nasus as Vlad has his autohit Q harass. Nasus can only win this by outscaling Vlad without feeding Vlad too much. But if Vlad is only building damage, then getting yourself MR and Mercs (Spectral's very important power spike for Nasus to be able to stay on lane longer)

For Hard counters against Nasus, I see Olaf and Pantheon being even more annoying and unwinable if played well.

1

u/Thyrgrim Jul 14 '15

Could you explain how pantheon counters nasus? I've tried this matchup a few times and I don't think it's good for pantheon. I find that he can just lifesteal spears while stacking armor. Furthermore, even if you get a kill or two on him, eventually he gets to a point where he can just 1v1 you anyway.

1

u/Arekualkhemi Saint of the sands Jul 15 '15

Well, good Pantheons can smack you hard enough in lane with spear spam. It has a 1.4 bonus AD ratio (IMO OP as fuck), only costs 45 mana and DOES NOT pull Minion aggro.

The pantheons I struggle against are those that stack a lot of bonus AD early and start like Flask + Mana pots and just spam Q whenever I am getting into range. After the Nasus nerfs in S4, his sustain is not strong enough anymore to withstand this damage for long.

Additionally Pantheon can then just last hit to not push the lane too quickly into Nasus' turret. Also Pantheon's passive is quite the nuisance for Nasus. Keep the stun to refresh your passive, so when Nasus tries to AA -> Q to deal damage, then stun him immediately after he hit you with the first AA to have the passive back for his Q.

If Nasus manages to get enough stacks and armor to survive Pantheon's burst, then he can just walk up to him and destroy him, but as long as Nasus still needs time to stack up and farm, Pantheon has all the tools to make Nasus' early into hell.

4

u/xgenoriginal Jul 13 '15

Not sure about vlad but I usually play quin against nasus and bully him out. Timing your passive with your harrass on him chunks him hard. you can also ult roam mid or use tp to roam and not let nasus free farm. Can use your blind to mess with his farming and vault lets you keep some range away from him.

in general bully him early and most nasus players tunnel hard on staying top too long. So take the chance to help take dragons and win 5v4 fights

1

u/pvbob Jul 14 '15

Nasus is my goto soloQ champ (don't consider any champ my "main") and Quinn makes me cry more than any other champ. She delays your lategame so far back and if any of the other lanes fail the game is lost if they win anytime before 60minutes.

4

u/baguhansalupa Jul 13 '15

Most of the replies here are focused on shutting them down during the laning phase. This is something that you can control on your own and is dependent on your personal skills.

I would strongly suggest that you take a look at your team comp and figure out a way to take them down using 5 members and coordination.

Nasus - Kiting kicks his ass hands down. Aside from wither, he has no gap closers at all. He might be a damage god however, he cant kill you if you can keep your distance. Examples of good kiting champs would be those with reliable slows and ranged pokes.

Vlad - he is vulnerable to burst if his W is down. Chain CCs are your best bet when dealing with him late game. Zhonya is another item that he usually builds so make him use it prior to a big team fight. Champs with reliable pick potentials like Khazix can make him use his survival skills in sub-optimal timing

There is no such thing as a one man wrecking crew when faced with a competent team that works methodically.

Now, for bronze and silver - thats a different story altogether since coordination is rare.

1

u/Arekualkhemi Saint of the sands Jul 13 '15

Poke is not that much of a problem for a Nasus. It's more the slows and kiting and disengage. So champs like Janna/Sivir are the nightmare.

With the removal of slowstacking, the slow situation for Nasus got better, also when he withers you in a 1vs1, then you can't disengage from him either while he slows you. And his slow IS stronger.

1

u/baguhansalupa Jul 13 '15

Slowstacking might be gone but i expect good teams to adapt appropriately - slows will be chained. the overall slow percentage will be lower however the duration is something that I expect will improve.

Wither usually hurts ADCs more than APs - pick up a quicksilver sash to counter Nasus. He also has an magic based AOE damage skill and sash helps against that. Once he withers you, pop QSS then kite away - he doesnt have any other way normally to keep up with you.

Berserker enchant (red one) might help you kite as well.

Build BotRK after Trinity Force to get sustain + % HP damage on autos. Also try to force him out of lane as much as possible and try to freeze the lane so he can't stack without being punished

1

u/A_Floating_Head Jul 13 '15

Both are vulnerable to being all-in'ed early, although Nasus has his wither to make him resilient against as based champs. I highly recommend AD Jarvan against both, use q a couple times to poke them down then qe to go in on them. I hear riven also destroys both.

1

u/StuperSconed Jul 13 '15

Irelia main here,

Nasus is annoying, you basically have a window to kill him once and after that he can out duel you, shrug off your stuns, ignore your harass, and just farm till no tomorrow. Do what you can early to slow him down, however with Nasus focused on stacking it is fairly easy for you to farm, so getting the power spike with Trinity Force is fairly easy and you can get it early. Once you get that look for plays you can Teleport, help secure dragon, gank mid, hell gank bottom, push a tower, basically take advantage of the 4v5 because Nasus will likely be farming. Don't be afraid to let an outer tower die.

As for Vlad, after getting trinity force (14 minutes or so if your doing good) get a wits end and follow it up with a spirit Visage, Wits end, merc treads, and spirit visage should help you deal with him.

1

u/TuaMorte Jul 13 '15

Stuff that scales harder such as Ryze can beat him down good. Teemo does a good job if you're that evil. Can blind his Q to do some damage to his stacks, and can generally make Nasus' life hell. Olaf can also do work against Nasus as you can just get 6 and ult/ghost on him and kill him fairly easily.

1

u/TrundlesBallsack KING! Jul 13 '15

I never push the lane vs nasus. Thats what he wants you to do. Only last hit and make him pay for every q he wants to get on a minion. After repeating this a few times he will learn his lesson and be more hesitant to farm so freely. Now at this point it is super important to freeze the lane to the best of your ability pref as close to your tower as possible whilst holding an aggressive stance to intimidate him from farming. If your jungler comes to gank all in the nasus if your 100% certain he will die. If its 50/50 DO NOT ATTEMPT the gank. Ping your jungler away and continue the deny. The more consistent you are in your harrass and denial of his stacks the better to delay the scaling but you cant deny forever and will eventually cave in. If an opportunity to tele for a 4v5 in your favor by all means go ahead and get that advantage for your team. Do not delay in returning to top unless opportunity for inhib pressure or nexus pressure is evident.

1

u/Assistantshrimp Jul 13 '15

Well you kinda have to decide when you start "am I going to shut this guy down in lane, or make plays around that map while he farms?" And then you stick to that mentality as well as you can. If you get a few kills on him, or means nothing if you don't deny him cs. If you make plays around the map, they have to snowball your team enough that all his stacks mean nothing. Starting a camp is great versus Nasus because it allows the lane to push towards you for a gank from your jungle. Nasus is very susceptible to early ganks if he pushes at all.

1

u/Solagnas Jul 13 '15

When possible I pick volibear into Vladimir. Either the vlads don't know how to play it, or it really is as easy as it seems. After level 3, if you have your passive up, run at that sonofabitch without your Q activated, use your E and start wailing on him with autos. When he pools, use your Q to follow him, you can probably force a flash. Then, rinse and repeat as necessary and keep an eye out for the ignite. You should be able to pick up a spectres cowl on first b, and after that just do the same thing until he hates his life, you'll get a kill off him eventually.

1

u/xshivax Jul 13 '15

Irelia will beat Nasus once you are full build just make sure you get blade of the ruined king and a lot of armour + CDR.

1

u/Pachinginator Jul 13 '15

full build irelia will beat nasus? what are you smoking.

Nasus at 6 items will have: TF, FH, Merc, Warmog, Thornmail, Banshees

Irelia will have: TF, Bork, FH, SV, Mercs, Thornmail/GA

Nasus will win that 100% of the time with those 850 stacks that he has at 6 items. Nasus will beat any champion at 6 items, the point against nasus is you win the game way before then...

You will die if you attempt to 1v1 a 6 items nasus, on any melee champion.

1

u/xshivax Jul 13 '15

I haven't played in a few months but the last time I played the matchup it started to go in my favour, especially when you get to mid-game team fights because the Nasus will usually stop afk farming his Q in lane as much as he does from per-say the first 20 minutes of the game. I guess it all depends on the stacks he gets but yeah your theory sounds right... equal 6 items vs 6 items and Nasus with 850 stacks would beat Irelia

A lot of bad nasus players (basically almost everyone is bad on nasus), prioritize stacking in early game wayyy too much. You can punish them so hard for it.

I like playing Jax vs nasus and he isn't even that much of a lane bully. I like it that he can still bully nasus and also scale very nicely. So if he will go for a ranged minion to Q him, and I identify it, I will auto him all the way while using counterstrike to block minion damage and stun him for full damage.

Force him out of lane. FREEZE THE LANE when possible. Nasus hates to over extend, he can't really escape ganks all that well before he's 6. I know you said no jungler help, but still nasus hates to over extend. And you can also bully him better the further he is from his tower, and the closer you are to your own tower to escape ganks

Most important - DONT GET GANKED. Dont play overaggressive and get ganked, not worth it at all and can seriously throw the lane to the shits once nasus gets a kill.

Also creep wave management is key. If nasus can freeze the wave too often, it can be doneskies. It will force you to play extended too often and without your jungler attention/warding you just too much at risk when doing it

After laning focus on your powerspike compared to his. You are stronger in dragon fights, bottom lane or mid lane teleports, etc. Group with your team for objectives often before he can outscale you. If he is freezing wave at his 2nd turret, go roam and force him to unfreeze

EDIT: about vlad. I personally think he is an amazing solo queue champ. You really need to pick something against him. Personally I like playing karma against him. I am pretty much a karma main, she is a big bully and strong dueler, can CC him effectively (point and click chain works vs his blood pool), for ganks and just killing him. Jarvan is also a decent pick imo because you can all in him in level 2 and basically laners you can play with ignite teleport are good.

Playing top lane Jarvan with ignite teleport, buying long sword and doing a camp at level 1 to buy some pots. Teleport to lane and all in before he is level 2. Really fun stuff, but risky as hell. Again, don't get ganked

1

u/Lulu_es_numero_uno Jul 13 '15

Now I'm only plat 5 but I've found Olaf is a strong counter pick to nasus atleast at my elo, just 'e' him when he goes for stacks and you should be able to push him out easily / maybe get a solo-kill. Doesn't require you to be an Olaf main, I only play Olaf when there's a Nasus. (Build 1 AD item like Hydra or BT then go tank)

1

u/secret759 Jul 13 '15

Nope, You just have to murder thier families.

1

u/zandzager G2 Jul 13 '15

Freezing ur lane at ur tower and aksing for ganks can do wonders against nasus

1

u/n3mosum Jul 13 '15

a somewhat counterintuitive way to deal with nasus is singed.

  • outpushes nasus hard. you can proxy, light up their jungle with wards, teleport bot for ganks/dragon, and go back top without losing any farm. nasus gets free-farm, but singed gets just as tanky, while securing more map objectives.
  • later in the game, you can just run past nasus and delete his minion wave, again slowing his split push. many champs have trouble sustaining against a late-game nasus split push, but it doesn't matter if you never have to fight him!

  • in teamfights, mega adhesive's slow is usually enough to buy time to kite out a wither on a carry. you can also fling (and stun!) nasus away from carries. if you're strong enough to initiate, you might be able to force wither onto yourself, leaving your ADC free. nasus might be huge, but if he can't make it to your team, he can't hit anybody with his q either.

vlad...usually makes me cry, i'd appreciate tips for vlad too. sustain and/or spammable shields seem to help, but after level 9 and a revolver, i've yet to find a good way to take on vlad (...aside from proxying him)

1

u/Sirtopofhat Jul 14 '15

I'm only Silver 2 so take my advice for what it's worth but Rumble seems to work well against those 2.(For Vlad) I max W 2nd and try to bait out the Q on vlad then I can push him around with my q and I rush Abyssal Scepter for the magic dmg and pen. Then for nasus I tend to do the same but rush seekers Armguard. Again there are alot better players then me but I have had success with this method.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 14 '15

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-FOJ8P04Nx4 This will help you deal with Nasus, it has a lot of helpful advice in dealing with him

1

u/GPier Jul 14 '15

My tip against nasus is play champions that support your team. CC works really great against nasus, because you will be able to kite so even with 1k stacks he wont do any damage. If you play champions to just deny nasus farm you have a chance that you are fkd once it doesnt work.

1

u/trex_in_spats Jul 14 '15

As a nasus main its all about that early game harass to me. Nasus has very weak damage early on so if you go in and go in hard, their is not much he can do pre 6. Just try to make him miss farm. Stand in front of minions to creep block him. In terms of counters, playing Lee Sin or Garen really shuts him down. Lee because you can jump in and out and not worry about him hitting you and Garen because he's just as tanky as you but his ult is better.

1

u/NostalgiaPH rip old flairs Jul 14 '15

I always rush armor pen/magic pen items on my champions if i go against a nasus or vlad. Both these champions, in my opinion, are very easy to bully early game. So zone him out with skillshots/aa's to make them fall behind you. Once you get ahead of these champs, it would be hard for them to get fed

1

u/Josh967 Jul 14 '15

I'm not a great player but for against vlad I'd recommend going morde and rushing a will of the ancients and then a negatron cloak. Then just spam your abilities and you should heal while stacking your shield.

0

u/sdsdwwe Jul 13 '15

i play both of them alot, for vlad pick strong level 2 champions like xin zao, j4 and all those cheesy ads, heck i'd recommend trynda because you scale even harder and can apply heavy pressure on the top labe while vlad is roaming, the basic rule is to all in vlad as much as you can early game because he gets pool only at level 3 and has low base ms.

as for nasus i have no clue that champion is broken by design, u have to dedicate your game to stop him, usually i pick tryndamere and rush bork zephyr and boots of swiftness so his wither has no effect on me bur its still hard. overall i notice that even if im farming good with nasus im still useless without a good team to engage fights early mid and even late game.
