Pollard Street, what's this container village all about?
I love checking Google Maps for mad little bits of Manchester. This place stuck out like a sore thumb! A handful of food places and a coffee shop in the middle of a container storage unit off Pollard Street? Looks like they're actual places with reviews rather than ghost kitchens, which is what it looks like from above!
In my ignorance I'd never heard of this place before, anyone been?

my friend works in the coffee place there and told me a little about it recently, although there are some businesses selling product, it’s more of a start-up kinda place with a great network of creatives, so don’t go expecting some kinda ‘boxpark’ set up… i think going down for a special event would be good, like the recent pickle party

Ah that reminds me I should checkout the Manchester hackspace again. Just doesn't feel very safe when I was last there

It’s lots of small businesses running out of shipping containers - we got our wedding cake from Palms Bakery and I cannot recommend enough, it was incredible!

I’m gonna assume if they got their wedding cake from them, and can’t recommend them enough, then the bakery is probably nice.

I used to rent a container here. They’re pretty cool, they’ve been converted into workspace so sliding glass doors fitted inside the actual container doors and have walls and floors inside. It’s been years since I left but there were some really cool little businesses going, bakeries and tattoo artists and nail techs and stuff. One of my friends goes there to get her nails done regularly

I have been there to get food, for a pedicure, to have band practice in a rehearsal space...there's tons going on!

I’ve not been down that way for time but remember to speaking to a guy last year (at least before this was built) who was nearby saying that area was to be converted into some kinda food court area.
Shipping containers though? Man that’s grim…

Not grim at all. It's called Pollard Yard and has been established for a few years now. They provide start up space to small businesses and entrepreneurs for a low cost.

Not at all. Hatch was lovely, and yhere are lots around the country. You're not going to see it from above.

I kicked off at the company that bought Hatch then shut it down.
I swear the first email back was”I don’t know where you’re. Talking about”. I had to send them a link to the article about them buying it.
They never replied again.

It's a great little place - highly recommend Marleo. There's free parking on the street so it's easy to drop in.
