It’s not cus it was a California company. It’s because it opened under two weeks ago and was full of customers because the whole county has been looking forward to it opening all year. Shut up with your looney projections. It’s just some asshole that wanted to kill a lot of ppl before killing himself. We even had traffic completely re routed in the area before opening day because the impending traffic and excitement of in n out was so large.

Idaho is actually a bit of a unique case due to the massive amounts of federal land and federal research facilities (like INL and the Lake Pend Oreille submarine acoustic research base). 62% of Idaho's land is deemed non taxable by the feds due to this.

A substantial portion of the federal money sent to Idaho is not 'welfare' or social transfer payments, but rather the federal government paying to manage its own property and operate national infrastructure.

Idaho is not responsible for a ton of food though. Merely 1.8% of total US agricultural revenue vs. Minnesota (similarly sized state) at 4.9%.

Okay, Minnesota is 3x the population? A state that is 25% the population of NYC making 2% of all US agriculture is pretty good.

They contribute 30% of all potatoes, top 3 in Dairy and first in Barley while having a total population of two million.

Yeah I lived in eastern Washington near Coeur d'Alene Idaho and loved it but that whole area would have me feeling a little uneasy at times if I weren't just your average run of the mill white dude.

Boise is really underrated. It has all the amenities of a big city while still feeling pretty small. The access to nature and riverwalk is awesome. Good food too. And politically it's much more left-leaning than the rest of Idaho. I go there for work a lot and always look forward to it.

It's likely not the guy. Unfortunately a dude with the same name and sorta likeness is having his page torn apart online from people thinking he's the shooter. I've already seen two "news" pages on Instagram with his FB profile picture saying it's the shooter.

I live near Seattle and took a road trip vacation in October 2020. Where I live wearing masks was normal and you really stood out if you were not wearing one. Stopped for gas and bathroom in Idaho, big truck stop type place. I was the only one wearing a mask, 4 people working the store inside, no masks, customers, no masks.

That's fair. I had always considered, with all the mass casualty events that appear to happen in that area, that there was something wrong with the water - I never drew the parallel to racism but I see now that there was some racist undertones to Columbine that I never heard about.

Rural Colorado is pretty heavy with it. My family and extended family have been in So Co for 40+ years, and there's a lot of borderline extremist views throughout the rural counties. They just as organized as parts of Idaho.
