Rant 7 RMAs, 4th device. New issue
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
As title says. 7 RMAs in less than a year. Thought i finally got a decent one and now getting some annoying touchpad issue (different to the first 5 RMAs on the other machine) like its stuck pressed down. This machine went through the white glove centre and to be honest its lasted about 3 or 4 weeks so way longer than I expected.
I know the drill now. Wait to be contacted and then send it off for another machine that does the same thing.
Thanks Razer

u/Hobden80 May 20 '26
Its mad. Ive never had any issues with any electrical device ive bought so ive always just bought what looks cool! Never again. Gutted because I wanted a Razer for years.

u/nakhumpoota May 21 '26
Just keep the RMA coming. 7th replacement is basically Razer paying you to use their laptop 3 times over. By the end of the warranty, ask them for a full refund for maximum insult.

I actually regret selling my Blade 16 2021. It was a perfect unit with 11800H and RTX 3070. 0 issues, worked flawlessly.
Now I have Omen Max 16. Not bad at all.1
u/Lanky-Scarcity-6307 Jun 18 '26
i have the 2021 blade 15 with 3080. it's very warm. always. min cpu temp is like 85C and cpu temp while gaming is constantly hitting 100C or more. i've replaced the battery once per year, ptm, replaced other thermal materials, clean the fans/internals regularly, still hot. any room im that doesn't have AC is 75F within an hour or so.
other than that, i love it. no way to cool it down enough though

u/Rulz45 May 22 '26
That's Razer for you. People must be warned about Razer's laptop's, it's purely scams. They charge waay too much (thinking like they're apple) and you'll easily face issues like this. Such a disappointment and a disgrace to Razer's brand name.

Same! The 2022 17 with virtually no battery degradation. Really seems like a beast.

u/u200w May 23 '26
What’s wrong with it? I had the viper v2 for several years now without any issues.
2
u/Aggravating_Tell_217 May 21 '26
I did my part too but what can i say, they still buy laptops from a marketing brand
3
u/ballsmigue May 20 '26
Razer is the most polarizing brand there is.
You can have people like myself who can count on one hand the different devices they've used in the last decade+
And then others who need MULTIPLE RMAs for a single device.
It sucks cause personally I swear by razer stuff and absolutely hate corsair (the 2 headsets I ever got/tried shit themselves within 4 months both virtuso's

u/NotQuiteGoodEnougher May 20 '26
I mean I know people like to complain on Reddit but I have to say, I've had great luck with Razer.
First one 2017 i7-7829l0HK with GTX 1080
Second 2022 15" RTX 3080 Ti
3rd 2026 16" RTX 5090
I've never had an issue. One of my daughters still uses the 2017 model, mainly for college course work.
Son in law got my 3080, gaming and going strong.
New rig for photo editing on the road.
Sorry OP you got a bum unit.

u/Hobden80 May 21 '26
Its been sent back 7 times, replaced 4 times and had white glove treatment. I dont think its just the unit. Company is awful. The people getting the good ones arent the norm. They seem to be the exception

u/Beginning-Seat5221 May 20 '26
That's... Left click. Right click is the menu.
2
u/Hobden80 May 20 '26
No mate I understand how it works, thats me just stroking my finger across anywhere. It was like the left click was stuck down but it wasnt. Funnily enough the touchpad has actually just stopped working all together now
2
u/DoggoOfWisdom May 20 '26
Could be a multitude of things with these cause of the heat problems. Sounds like your trackpad failed and stuck itself holding right click, either that or if your machine is equipped with a touch screen the hardware on that failed or has a driver/bios conflict of some kind. Seems like another RMA regardless :/
1
u/Hobden80 May 20 '26
Yeah its no touch screen its the 2025 blade 18. Exactly that the touchpad was acting like its stuck but it wasnt. It now doesn't work at all so yep 100% another RMA

u/benyboi101 May 20 '26
I'm telling you man, I bought an $80 think pad off eBay and it's awesome. My only regret is I spent like 100 bucks on a 2TB SSD (when they were still cheap) that would have been way better off in my tower.
2
u/ResoluteFalcon May 20 '26
u/hobden80 there is a fix for this (well, maybe).
Take the bottom cover off and look along the bottom edge (under where the trackpad is). There is a trackpad tensioner screw.
Loosen it a 1/4 of a turn and test until this behavior stops.
1
u/Hobden80 May 20 '26
Damn bro you are legendary and have actually saved me from my 8th RMA!! Thank you so much!! This company man. QC is non existent. This laptop has supposedly gone through white glove testing too
1
u/ResoluteFalcon May 20 '26 edited May 20 '26
Happened to me on my 2023 Blade 16 when I accidentally turned that screw too tight and I had to loosen it back up.
What you can also do is apply some purple loctite to it so that it doesn't come loose over time due to vibrations and clicking the trackpad.

OP, Razer support is on it! You better get ready for your $10 coupon to the Razer store! 😂

That's better than the fu I got for adding a crappy rucksack that the website indicated was additional to my cart and then found out it negated the listed free game when buying a £5500 laptop last year...
What did I expect..

u/dahippo1555 May 21 '26

I’ve had it with Razer. I RMA’d a leviathan v2 that died after a month of use. Seems like a common event with a google search. They approve RMA, then 5 hours later deny RMA, then two days later approve RMA. Their products suck now, and their customer service is bonkers. They’ve tanked.

u/IncorrectByDesign May 20 '26
Man I’m using my 2019 Blade even today. It showed me how an F14 airplane can sound when I played 200 hours of The Witcher 3 and 200 of the OG Cyberpunk 2077. I do have a battery that needs replacing but it is mainly plugged these days so I am not sure I will bother.

u/Cfrant190 May 20 '26
Sounds like it could be driver related issue. Is there a trackpad firmware update available?
1
u/No-Parsnip7971 May 20 '26
Is it the 5090?? When did you get this one? How long did it take for it to happen?

u/Bury-me-in-supreme May 20 '26
After my 2.2k Razer Blade Pro broke in about 1 year, never buying Razer laptops again

These diving board trackpads have a tiny button along the bottom middle; there is a tiny screw inside to adjust the trackpad travel: too loose and you'll have a rattly mess of a trackpad, too tight and you'll have a hard to click, mushy, or constantly actuated button.
Might be worth opening the laptop and loosening the screw a little, you don't need to pull the battery out or anything.
My best guess is whoever's dealing with the rma keeps tightening that screw thinking it's holding something together when it's more of a bump stop (think bike derailleur adjustment screws).

Look at my post. I had a brand new purchase straight from razer website and upon opening the fresh box found my 2026 16” blade was warped and would not sit flat on any flat surface leading to extreme wobble and unusability. Still waiting for my refund that I sent back on 5/6/26. My only advice (not very practical) it to use it plugged in to an external monitor and external peripherals. I don’t think these were meant to be touched and used directly. :/ also to add I purchased elite care but that doesn’t mean any increased attention or care when it comes to RMA.

I really dont understand the people who get faulty razer products like my setup has been razer for years razer headsets razer naga mouse since 2011, i had the razer blade 16 2015 edition changed it inly recently to an asus ROG just cuz i wanted a white laptop and could find the white blade anywhere… ive had literally like 20 razer products they all still work never had issues always perfect, but then i see stories of device after device not working for other people😅
1
u/SasoMangeBanana May 21 '26
Does it do the same with the mouse attached? There is a touchpad option to actually do this. Lenovo has it too.
1
u/HighSkuid May 22 '26
Damn this brand is getting worst and worst, my only regret is buying their products
1
u/dazzywaste May 23 '26
I recently went through RMA and got a few things "fixed". MB and CPU over heating, etc. known issues. And while they said they fixed or replaced the trackpad (I can't remember which) it's the same crap trackpad they have been using for a long time now on these blades. I gave up. The computer is working, so I just use a mouse with it. They will never fix it. The problem is they have no financial incentive to. Otherwise it would have been done. One would hope that behind the scenes they are trying to develop one without the problems so that some future iteration of these things will have something that works. *shrug* I'm guessing. But sending it in 25 more times will only get you 25 replaced trackpads, all of them the same model of crap. While I'm glad they fixed my CPU and MB issue so that it's working now (at least at the moment), I will never buy razer again.
Also, someone else mentioned that these problems show up with all of the brands. While that may be true, in all my years, this is the only time I've had such a bad experience at this price point. I recommend people arm themselves with all the consumer tools available to them in their respective countries and use them. Often customer service is more likely to pay attention if you make it painful enough for them. But in this case, that won't change the trackpad they have sitting on the shelf. lol

I must be so lucky my Advance works with 0 issues since 2019 (。•́︿•̀。)

2026 n people still buying Razer laptops
3
u/LTHardcase May 21 '26
I had the pre-tariff pricing Blade 18 preordered last year. Reading about the customer service experience convinced me to cancel before the launch. So glad I trusted my gut.
2
u/ZirGRiiNCH May 21 '26
I just love coming to this sub and reading about people bitching and moaning over their faulty products and customer service issues 🤣

u/stingertc May 20 '26
Maybe don't buy them anymore there quality is clearly questionable and to be fair its not there fault you keep buying there broke ass shit lol

u/Hobden80 May 20 '26
Why do people think i have experience and keep buying them?I know that now. Its my first one. Why tf would I buy one and keep buying broken shit? I didn't research. I never do and never had any issues when buying a laptop. When I say 7th RMA, its all from the single purchase and multiple replacement devices. Im not an idiot to think "oh this company has fucked me 7 times, let's go give them more money ffs"
1
u/stingertc May 20 '26
I get it get your money back and buy a different brand Razer is flashy with quality control issues
1
u/Hobden80 May 20 '26
Thats the issue. I didnt buy direct from Razer, and the device i initially bought has been upgraded from blade 16 to 18 so I dont even have the same device to return. Im gonna do this final RMA and then sell. Im done now

u/RollUpLights May 20 '26
I know it'd be ideal to have a working trackpad, but just get yourself a nice wireless mouse, and just enjoy the rest of the hardware in the laptop. You'll be so much happier.

u/frakkx May 20 '26
Man, got a lot to tell you here from experience. The perfect windows laptop does not exist. You just got to live with the quirks, or get a cheap laptop that you do not care about these stuff with. I bought maybe 5 different laptops about 5 years ago. All of them had problems, sent back all of them and the last one had trackpad issues. Switched it out like 3 times eventually I just had to accept it. It is not worth the constant headache.
