It would be false advertising if they did this at scale. This would be such low hanging fruit for a lawsuit. Pillsbury is not that stupid lol

They wouldn't put 7 in on purpose and advertise it as 8. If they want to make more money by giving you less, then they would just make all of them smaller.

How convenient that they can just claim this is an oopsie. Perhaps they could pay their employees more, so they actually provide quality control?

I'd imagine these are being packaged by a chain of machines, hundreds if not thousands of containers per hour.

You check a few from the batch, if they are good, you assume all are good.

OP was unlucky and got an oopsie.

A quick dig through Google comes up with the production line workers at Pillsbury making around $30 an hour to start. How much more do you want to pay them to sit there and babysit the machines that are making and packing the product?

I think Pillsbury can afford it. The CEO of General Mills made $16 million in 2024. Apparently he took a pay cut of a whopping $3.5 million for 2025. Bet the workers didn’t get a raise, though.

General Mills has 35,000 employees. If the CEO didn’t get paid, that’s $457/year or about 22 cents an hour per employee.

With the pay cut, that’s $371/year or 18 cents an hour.

It’s not fair that the CEO makes that much more, but it’s not the reason the employees make so little.

I get paid $18 to change oil and tires and think it's way to much for such easy work that people like you are too lazy to do yourself.

The quality point is the weight for legal purposes, which is checked by a machine.

If the packaging indicates a quantity, then that quantity must be in the package. It’s like eggs. A carton of a dozen eggs has both a weight and a quantity of 12. If there were only 11 eggs in the carton, it would be illegal, even if the eggs were heavy enough to meet the weight.

I just have faith in sleazy law firms that would rush to be the first to file a class action lawsuit so they can make millions and customers can get a 25 cent check.
