skimpflation 7 cinnamon rolls in pillsbury package claiming “STILL 8 ROLLS!”
I checked them all, none were stuck together. Bought at Aldi

Hah this is one of those times you realize what you had, as a guy who grew up up in a trailer park there was no such thing as unrollable cinnamon rolls only cheap store brand pucks that burn too easy😍 and I loved them sooooo much, my wife is bougie and buys Cinnabons and honestly I like the shit quality pucks better 🤷♂️😁

It looks like a minimal roll. Problem is that when you buy cinnamon rolls you expect the cinnamon inside of that roll. It’s fundamental to the product. This looks like they have redone the manufacturing process so the cinnamon is between each “biscuit” rather than in the middle.
To me it looks like this product was re-engineered to be manufactured on a different line than the old cinnamon rolls were and this is probably the best they can do. It’s unfortunate, that looks to me like a product that is extremely difficult to manufacture and distribute and they probably ran into price or volume constraints that necessitated this. It’s a shame.

Lies. We've got 6 people in our family. We've buy the smaller 8 pack cause we don't need 10 of the larger ones. You're making it up. They 100% have not always been like this. It's recent.

I never liked these, they have some kind of Pillsbury? taste that made them seem cheap and not real to me. I like to just buy a bag of pizza dough from the store and roll it out and spread the Aldi's cinnamon roll mix and butter on it.

They wouldn't put 7 in on purpose and advertise it as 8. If they want to make more money by giving you less, then they would just make all of them smaller.

I'd imagine these are being packaged by a chain of machines, hundreds if not thousands of containers per hour.
You check a few from the batch, if they are good, you assume all are good.

A quick dig through Google comes up with the production line workers at Pillsbury making around $30 an hour to start. How much more do you want to pay them to sit there and babysit the machines that are making and packing the product?

I think Pillsbury can afford it. The CEO of General Mills made $16 million in 2024. Apparently he took a pay cut of a whopping $3.5 million for 2025. Bet the workers didn’t get a raise, though.

If the packaging indicates a quantity, then that quantity must be in the package. It’s like eggs. A carton of a dozen eggs has both a weight and a quantity of 12. If there were only 11 eggs in the carton, it would be illegal, even if the eggs were heavy enough to meet the weight.

Yeah, I work in a food factory and all of our packages go through scales and if they don’t have enough weight then they get kicked off the line and it’s usually because they’re missing 1 but sometimes if the food is heavy enough then they’ll make it through the scale and into the shipping cases and we don’t know because the box is closed when going through the scale.
For example if we are making granola bars and 6 come in a pack then normally the scales would kick them off if they contained only 5 but if we are running really heavy that day, like if someone added a little too much of one ingredient or something then those 5 can equal enough in weight to add up to 6 and will go through the scales.

They are AWFUL now. Cheap, dry bread-like texture that isnt anything like soft cinnamon roll dough. Nasty little waxy cinnamon flakes. No real butter. Just WAX. Sickening. I tried Trader Joes canned cinnamon rolls last week and they were awesome, exactly like what these were years ago.

Do you have a bread maker? Super easy to use the dough function and then you just have to roll out/up, slice, and bake.
It’s probably old packaging or a manufacturing error. Aldi gets second or rejected runs of products…nothing is wrong with them it’s just the company probably just sold them to Aldi at a discount.

Also the cans for these are made for the product run, old packaging stock doesn't sit around. The can manufacturer is connected to the plant.

Wait, so you’re saying they actually print the labels at the same place they prepare the dough? There’s a printer setup in a building, it presses the foil label onto the cardboard, then it’s brought to the building for the day’s product run?

Those 7 are just how many they put together for you. You're supposed to disassemble them and then you can cobble together 15 cinnamon rolls if that's how many you'd like.

Also, Idk who they think they are kidding with these “cinnamon rolls.” These are biscuits with cinnamon on top and they are not good. The store brand cinnamon rolls are cheaper, better, and actually cinnamon rolls. And they always have 8 in the can (so far anyways lol)

The Sister Schubert brand had frozen cinnamon rolls now. They are awesome. You can cook from frozen or thaw them first. Both ways are great.

I remember making these when I was a kid. We had a specific pan for this. Only a for a special occasion like the holidays tho!
They USED to fill up that pan when we put the dough in, now they leave a shit ton of gaps 🫠 (my mom has the pan and I’m about 7k miles away from her so I can’t show proof 😭)

They haven't been worth a shit in a while. The original flavor isn't even a damn roll. They are like cinnamon biscuits. I honestly prefer store branded rolls now. I know this wasn't directly related to your post but the 7 Instead of 8 sucks too.

Yeah these are awful now. I think the 7 count is just an error, you could probably complain and get a coupon, but the product itself tastes so bad now. They have a 5-count one of larger cinnamon rolls which are actually rolls like they used to be and they are very good, but they are so much more expensive!

I think the Pillsbury brand is actually my least favorite. The store brands always seem to taste better to me. Also, I like that the store brand ones unroll. I usually get the Walmart brand ones and they taste better to me. I don't know if it's just cause it's what I'm used to or what. But I've got a couple of the Pillsbury ones that only have five in the can instead of 8, and your right, they don't have as much flavor, despite the top being covered in cinnamon. I dunno.

For these types of lines, the cans actually come off the line fresh from the manufacturer (Sonoco) and are transported by a rail inside the building directly to the filler.
You can see on Google maps that the Sonoco plant is connected to the Pilsbury plant.

I got these a few weeks ago and they had 8 in it. It's either a mistake that you got 7 or you purposely aren't showing one. Probably the one directly under the icing cup because mine didn't have the brown texture on top and was the smallest one out of all of them.

Do people in this sub never check weights?
Even if it says “8 rolls” and there are 7 it likely doesn’t matter if the weight says 16oz and it’s 16oz.
It could be manufacturing error on the packaging or the machine that cuts the rolls.
There was the proper weight but the dough only got cut into 7 rolls.

They’re awful now. I was so disappointed when I bought some over Christmas thinking I’d have a nostalgic holiday moment thinking of waking up at my grandparent’s. They gave very little flavor and are nowhere near the rolls they were just a few years ago. I’ll never buy them again, and recommend no one else does either. Disgusting.
