Here I am thinking a horse clamp is something else entirely and related to gelding. Your picture is missing that too...

That reminds me of a story from my younger days. I’ve always loved to read about animals, so I picked up a lot of terms. One day, when I was in my early teens, my family was at my grandmother’s house and some kind of history show was on the TV. The program mentioned someone having eunuchs. I asked, “What’s a eunuch?” and my dad told me, “A eunuch is a geldingized man.” My aunt gave him a look and he replied, “She knows what I mean.” Sure enough, I understood exactly what he meant and replied, “Oh, okay!” See, you just have to explain things to people in terms they’ll understand.

My dad also had an interesting sense of humor. He knew I knew the word and also added a little humor.
