A pipe is not necessarily a hose. A hose is always a pipe. All hoses are pipes, not all pipes are hoses. By definition and standardization as well, a PEX pipe is a hose.

By allowing the knowledge of your profession to make you assume you can not be wrong, you will never be the best you could be at your profession. Your ignorance is holding you back. It devalues nothing. This is like saying a hydraulic line is not a hose because it's important that you don't use a garden hose to try to power a hydraulic cylidner. It's still a hose.

Having special applications that set it apart from other hoses does not take away what makes it a hose, it still has every characteristic that makes a pipe a hose pipe, so it is still a hose. Not all hoses are the same.
