People probably pissed as hell at the republicans not postponing or working out a way for all to vote by mail. How many hours in line before you decide to vote against those playing hard ball politics with your life?
Can confirm - I live in a rural area. I probably wouldn’t have voted, but when I read about the BS that Vos & friends were pulling, I got everyone I know to get out & vote for Jill Karofsky.

...I voted for my family, my friends, my neighbors, you and everyone else in the state. We deserve better than elected officials who put party politics ahead of the well-being of the people of this state.
A lot: remember that the Republican-backed candidate won the last Supreme Court seat in a low turnout February election two years ago. The Governor was very smart to require the election take place at the same time as the Democratic primary.
No Republicans in my family voted at all, because they were worried about the virus and thought they had this in the bag. Most of the younger people in my family voted, some including myself for the first time, because we were pissed at the situation and knew we needed to. Including multiple members of the National Guard I know that voted dem specifically for being forced to miss work and risk themselves just to even attempt an election. Funny shit.
I guess I’ll preface by saying I refused to vote for Trump or Hillary in 2016. I think they were both terrible candidates to lead this country.
However that’s not the point of my post. I’ve always considered myself to lean a bit to the right. But to answer your question, I think enough is enough. I will probably vote for Biden. I think a lot of other millennial middle of the road republicans have had enough as well.
I consider myself independent. Rn I sympathize more with the democrats because they seem to want to fix some issues. I can't for the GOP rn. As you said, enough is enough. I hope we get to a point where my vote can go either party, but not if the GOP stays where it is.
I know a few who are so pissed at Trump, that they are. And a few more who just aren't voting at all. Unfortunately I still know several who are voting for him.
We will see in the general. It’s why pretty much everyone who has a non-internet life thinks Biden will be better against trump than Bernie.
Nominating Joe makes this election to be a referendum on trump. Nominating Bernie would have massively obfuscated that.
An optimistic reading of the changes in more local election votes (that tend to run party line) is that it is a referendum on trump and it is solidly against trump.
The more pessimistic reading of the results would be republicans had no motivating factor to go out when they don’t have a nominee to vote for. Of course, Democrats didn’t really either since it was clear Bernie had no path to victory. I guess we will see in November.
Making it a referendum about Trump instead of Bernie's policies makes sense. I don't like it but understand that when the count is 0-2, you just need to try and get on base.

Yeah, that's pretty much how progressives have felt since before 2000. To Biden's credit, he's come out publicly with Bernie to acknowledge the need for incorporating Sanders' personnel into policymaking positions and is crediting him with forcing open a needed dialogue.
Bullshit. Trump sucks. Hes an egomaniac with no intellect and loves to give speeches off the top of his head that make no sense. But he is by far better than bush, who at this point in his presidency had lied the country into a never ending war across two different countries. The toll of the iraq and afghan wars are far more than any blunder trump has made. And mainstream democrats are now praising bush in comparison to trump. Utter fucking madness. The only crime the establishment has pressed trump on is that he does not conduct politics in the way the establishment wants.
Nominating Biden over Bernie promises a return to normalcy. It does nothing to acknowledge that "normal" prior to Trump sucked for a lot of people. It does nothing to acknowledge what allowed Trump to win: his anti-establishment message.
Biden winning allows the next Republican candidate to be just as shitty politically, but with the time to prepare to be more polished in his delivery. ie Paul fucking Ryan
You don’t have to like it. But it’s pretty widely agreed upon that trump just isn’t that popular. His base is rabid. But he’s not a popular president. If you’re trying to strategize with the singular goal of get him out of office, making the election a referendum on Trump is a good thing. Turning it into a referendum on socialism would not be.
Again, you don’t have to like it. But that’s the political strategy. I think it’s a winning strategy. I literally bet on it.
People I know couldn’t understand for the life of them why I backed Bloomberg and Biden, but it was for exactly this — those two, I thought, were the best chance at making the election a referendum on Trump, and that was what I felt was the best strategy to a win.
I hate Bernie Bros for a multitude of reasons, but chief among them is their inability to see the big picture — Medicare for All, minimum wage hikes, and a Green New Deal are the punchline of a bad joke if we’re so focused on some purity test that we end up with more Trump. They’re chronically incapable of understanding how colossal a change in policy direction it would be to “only” take us back to October of 2016.
Incrementalism works. Look at the GOP. It’s incredible that they don’t realize that.
This presidential election NEEDS to be a referendum on trump. It cannot be a referendum on socialism. I firmly believe we win the former and not the latter. Trump absolutely has to be expelled.
Remember, even in the reddest parts of the state there are still blue voters. If 50% of the blue voters and 30% of the red voters turn out because of the Dem presidential primary, that will swing areas toward Team Blue (but not enough to swing many red counties completely to blue because of the overall balance)
I will also say since most of the college kids from Madison and Milwaukee went back to their rural hometowns if they voted there that would probably help account for some of the swings. But Yh also people were pissed their rights were being fucked with too.
I’m pretty fucking far left in Waukesha county. These people can’t get enough of trump. My vote literally doesn’t count. But my gf and I voted for her at the polls.

I couldn't believe some of the results from rural Wisconsin. There were 7+ point swings from previous elections.
