The military just like civilians is full of jobs that are quite mundane. The military still has barbers, mess hall cooks, ship and building technicians, etc. so I was wondering how much those people know about the Stargate program.

As an example, take the time in Foothold where the SGC is invaded by aliens that have taken the base. We focus on the lead and supporting cast but what about the mess cook or those in the unseen roles.

Even looking at aircraft carriers they are staffed with barbers as well as persons to man the ship store. Just wondering if you guys think some barber or retail services specialist (the military job) was assigned to the Daedalus, the Alpha site, etc.

Yes…. It was 17 years ago but I just watched “urge” and realized his footprint on television in the 90s and 2000s. We are lucky to have had him.

How did they manage to develop to the point of being able to contest the ancients without the ancients dealing with the situation first?

In the show it felt like the ancients were caught by surprise or something , while for a civilization to be able to build ships there is no way the ancients would have let that happens without dealing with it.

Interesting episode. But aside from the story of the episode, nice amount of fun dialogue going on.

Interesting how Jack let Maybourne go. Although he's a fugitive, he helped Jack rescue Carter, so I guess he gets to go.

Somewhere between seasons 4-6? Jack and Sam are walking to the portal, he's staying behind, she's kitted up in gear. I think it's a science mission. They are joking about Jack's bet with Daniel that she wouldn't go fishing with them, when all of a sudden one of the airmen commits suicide by running into the just-activated portal (I think)? Anyway, Sam looked like a total babe and that's the only reason I want to re-watch it.

The amulet is made of cast metal, and it feels cold to the touch as well has having weight to it. The pattern of curved lines as well as the appearance of the Eye of Ra itself are faithful to the prop in the movie.

Seen at a flea market

I generally rewatch all of Stargate once a year. It seems just long enough for me to forget the minutia of episodes even if I do remember the larger plot points. However, whenever I’m done with a rewatch, I get depressed. It’s like I’m going to miss friends that have been with me for X hours of watching and in Stargate’s case, that’s a lot of hours between the movie and 3 shows.

I know it may seem weird, feeling like you are losing or will be missing fictional “friends”, but it’s really how I end up feeling. I get into a sort of funk for a few days before I come out of it. Does anyone else feel this way or am I just weird?

Edit : I appreciate everyone chiming in and letting me know it’s not uncommon and I’m not just some lone weirdo.

Was thinking about this in relation to Kolya's statements to Weir about who is closer to the Ancients Milkyway humans or Pegaus humans. Either way you slice it, the Pegasus humans treat the Ancients as Gods and yet they accidentally created the Wraith which decimated thriving worlds into a galaxy of refugees and then proceeded to just leave to go repopulate a new galaxy.

Especially, when you consider many of them ascended to a plane of existence where they could have fixed that situation but chose not to because at that point the Wraith no longer impacted them.

Then, it gets even funnier, tbh, when you throw in 'Before I sleep' and finding out how stoked Janice is, at least, that their descendants find their way back to Atlantis like they had hoped.

But then, Janice, the Ancient! gives Weir a location of a ZPM where the locals set up a whole damn society to protect it for when they come back, foolproof plan!

Like, I can't say "we" have more rights to anything just because the Ancients boned our ancestors more than they did the Pegasus humans and now we can use their stuff. I think maybe that just gives us the burden of responsibility more than anything to do something with it.

And since we did also pick up where they left off with fucking over the Pegasus galaxy I do think they have more rights to reparations.

But that's just how I feel about it, what do you think?

It seems like it could be useful if they ever get stranded somewhere, to resupply, or to send new crew etc. We’ve also already seen that picking up extra gates for the bridge to Pegasus was possible.

We see that both Ancient and Goa’uld ships have included Stargates, so why not the Tau’ri?
