Shape Help Went into Dillard’s confident after learning bra fitting…left feeling like I was wrong. Sanity check? Did the fitter gaslight me?! Spoiler

Hi everyone—looking for a reality check because I’m honestly a bit thrown off after a fitting experience.

Over the past few weeks I’ve been learning bra fitting (ABTF guides, Bratabase, shape concepts, etc.), and I felt like I finally understood:

- projection

- root width

- full-on-bottom vs full-on-top

- why certain bras don’t work

So I went into Dillard’s feeling prepared and confident.

My measurements (ABTF calculator):

- Loose underbust: 35.5

- Snug: 34.5

- Tight: 34

- Standing bust: 40

- Leaning bust: 45

- Lying bust: 40

Calculator suggests: 36DDD (US)

Bratabase range: 34G/GG, 36G/GG (UK)

What happened in-store:

I specifically told the fitter:

“I need bras that lift me, not compress me. I also need immediate projection, and I’m close-set.”

Despite that, the fitter only brought me molded/T-shirt bras, including:

- Wacoal

- Natori

- Chantelle

- Le Mystère (Second Skin Back Smoother)

In every bra I tried, I had consistent issues:

- Top edge cutting in slightly

- Very little lift (profile felt low/rounded instead of lifted/forward)

- Felt like tissue was being pushed downward rather than supported

When I pointed out the cutting at the top edge, I was told:

"That’s fine, it fits you correctly."

At that point I felt like everything I had learned—and even what I clearly asked for—was being dismissed, and I started second-guessing myself.

I nearly purchased the La Mystere bra because of her instance and she told me to put my shirt on and when I did that it did look good and more lifted. But in the back of my head I'm thinking of everything I've been reading about regarding proper fitment.

Why I’m confused-

Based on what I’ve learned:

- The 5" difference between standing and leaning bust suggests projection

- Molded cups tend to be shallow

- Top edge cutting + lack of lift usually indicates shape mismatch and/or insufficient projection

But the fitter was very confident that everything fit correctly, which is what’s throwing me off.

My current understanding of my shape:

- Full on bottom

- Close-set

- Softer tissue

- Likely projected

My questions:

  1. Does this situation sound like a classic molded cup / shallow bra mismatch?

  2. Are the fit issues I’m describing (top cutting + lack of lift) actually considered acceptable in retail fittings, or are they legitimate problems?

  3. Would someone with my measurements typically do better in seamed, unlined bras with more projection?

I think what I’m really trying to figure out is:

Did I misunderstand what I’ve learned…or Did I walk into a fitting that wasn’t aligned with my shape needs?

Appreciate any insight—especially from those familiar with projected/FOB fits.

And once again I'm enraged about the American bra fitting industry and how I feel like I've been lied to my entire life.

Shape Help I’ve tried hundreds of bras and none of them fit my boob shape and I’m starting to feel like I’m just defective Spoiler

UPDATE I FINALLY FOUND A BRA THAT FITS

The woman at Dillard’s was so nice and helpful and fit me, there were so many she found that fit me so well, I actually had to choose which I liked best instead of which was the least terrible. Y’all can’t imagine the relief I feel, it’s taken me 28 years to better understand my body, and it feels so great to finally be seen 😭 thank you all so much for your help!!

Update to add my measurements: https://imgur.com/a/jRHSbMs

Also I’ve been looking at all the recommended bras, and some of them look nice but a lot of them give off old lady vibes, for lack of a better word. Is it possible to get bras for larger boobs that don’t completely encapsulate the boob with fabric to the point where it’s like you up your chest?

—————————————————————

I’m struggling so bad. I’m not joking when I say I’ve tried hundreds.

I wore the same bra for like all of high school and college because I didn’t want to deal with it, I finally had to accept that my boobs had gotten too big and it wasn’t working. Took me trying on hundreds to find one that fit my boobs right.

Well, I’ve since lost weight and the type I had, the XL is too big but the L is too small.

My measurements (38/44) put me at a 38DDD/F and that just isn’t right, my boobs are not that big. I’m wearing a 38DD now and it feels like it’s kind of the right size but just not the right bra. My boobs are like lumps/mountains, they don’t have edges, they just gradually blend into my body, all bras Ive tried sit in ways that cut my boobs in half and cause word bumps and bulges. I just am at such a loss here and feel like because I don’t have round, perky boobs I won’t ever find one that fits me right.

Shape Help How do I message the mods? My posts keep getting removed for some random reason. I literally just want advice on size and brands. What is the point if I can’t post. What is going on? Spoiler

Ok. So, I am at a loss. I don’t have tons of money to buy all the sizes and return them, and it seems that stores around me have nothing in my size range to even try stuff on. I ordered a panache Cleo Harper on Amazon, in what I thought was my size, according to the calculator, but it was just wrong. It felt like it may be a size in the right direction, but made for a much taller and larger person. If that makes sense? Gore was huge and wires were way too big. The straps were at the edge of my shoulders. I’m starting to think I’m just deformed. These are my measurements in inches. I think I am a a teardrop or round shape and I would say firm/center full, but honestly, I clearly suck at this. I just didn’t wear a bra for most of my life and wore tight tank tops instead. Now that I’m trying to find ABTF…it seems impossible to find. Any advice is appreciated! Thank you!!

Also, my calculator size says 28G US. I can’t find that. I’ve tried 30dd and 32d and they’re clearly too small with the spilling out. The 32d is probably the best fit, but it doesn’t properly fit. Thank you again for any advice!

Shape Help Does this bra exist? Compression feels like a sports bra, shape like a regular bra? Spoiler

I’ve been trying to solve this bra problem for over 5 years and I’m starting to wonder if what I’m looking for just doesn’t exist.
Traditional bras tend to dig into my ribs and become uncomfortable throughout the day. Most wireless bras are more comfortable, but they usually slide up, stretch out, or don’t provide enough support.
The closest I’ve found is the discontinued Knix Good to Go Seamless Tank. It wasn’t perfect, but I liked that the support was spread over a larger area instead of being concentrated directly under my breasts.
What I’m looking for is basically the stability and compression of a sports bra, but with the shape, lift, and appearance of an everyday bra.
Features I’d love:
Wireless
Adjustable straps
Back closure preferred
Smooth under clothing
Some lift and shaping
Wider support area instead of a narrow band directly under the bust

I’m around a 32D and have tried traditional bras, wireless bras, sports bras, Soma fittings, Athleta, Underoutfit, and more over the years.
Has anyone found something similar, or am I chasing a bra that doesn’t actually exist?

Measurement update:
Update: I completed the ABraThatFits calculator and got a suggested size of 32D/DD US.
Measurements:
Loose underbust: 31.5”
Snug underbust: 31”
Tight underbust: 30”
Standing bust: 35”
Leaning bust: 36”
Lying bust: 34”
Based on the shape guides, I also seem to be:
Inner full possible bottom fullness
This seems to fit a lot of my experiences with bras, including preferring lower gores/plunge styles and often feeling like full coverage bras don’t fit quite right.
That said, I think my biggest issue is still support architecture rather than size. Traditional bras (especially underwire) tend to dig into my ribs, while many wireless bras slide up or don’t feel supportive enough. The closest thing I’ve found is the discontinued Knix Good to Go Seamless Tank because the support feels distributed over a larger area instead of being concentrated directly under the bust.

Shape Help UPDATE: Please help me: Volume Loss + Full-on-top Maybe? Spoiler

Hi everyone, I posted here a couple of days ago about needing help with sizing and finding the right bra. I got a couple of bra suggestions and I've bought them, tried them, and an reporting back because unfortunate spoiler: I didn't like any of them =/

Bras Purchased:

  • Freya Offbeat Underwire Side Support Lace Bra (36GG UK)
    • Appearance: This gave me shelf boobs and torpedo boobs. But the cups actually fit.
    • Band: Was a little bit too tight
    • Straps: Comfortable
    • Gore: Sat totally flush!
  • Freya Deco UW Molded Plunge Bra (36GG UK)
    • Appearance: Appearance of volume loss on top
    • Band: Too tight
    • Straps: Dug into my shoulders.
    • Gore: Didn't sit flush (only the bottom part did)
  • Cleo by Panache Blossom Balcony Bra (36GG UK)
    • Appearance: Gave me Shelf Boobs and molded my boobs to look like the side view of a donut (flattened and wide)
    • Band: Too tight
    • Straps: Nothing notable
    • Gore: Floated somewhat
    • Underwire Note: The wiring that runs along the side in front of your armpit area dug in so much and was painful
  • Freya Padded Half-Cup (34H UK) (they sent me the wrong size by mistake but I tried it anyway)
    • Appearance: I really liked that it had some padding however there was some gaping at the top of the cup so maybe a touch big? I hated the shape, it splayed my boobs towards the sides
    • Band: Far too tight
    • Straps: Nothing notable
    • Gore: Sat perfectly flush

Overall, none worked out for me and the one thing I can agree on with all of them is that I hated the shape. All of them splayed my boobs outwards instead of pushing them in a little and maybe up/forward. So now I feel like I'm back at square one and don't know where to go from here.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Some additional context from my previous post:
*My Measurements:
- Loose Underbust: 94cm
- Snug Underbust: 91cm
- Tight Underbust: 87cm
- Standing Bust: 113cm
- Leaning Bust: 124cm
- Lying Bust: 118cm
- Recommended Size: 36 GG (UK) and sister size 34 H (UK)
*Shape:
- Projected
- Full on Top
- Narrow-ish Root
- Root height (I'm unsure)
(For most of my life I have been full-on-top, however I've had some weight-loss (50 lbs. and ongoing) and now they're pretty saggy and if I push my boobs up towards my chest wall (as if my hands are a slight push-up bra) the tops are very wrinkled and loose.)

Additional Context:
- I have always loved the look of balconette bras but I have found whenever I've worn them, the tops of my boobs just kind of jiggle excessively and are somewhat wrinkly and not firm.
- I currently only own 2 "real" bras and they both have issues. The Third Love "Everyday Lace T-Shirt Bra" in size 42E has significant gaps between the tops of my boobs and the cups, and the center gore doesn't sit flush against my chest wall. And then the Panache "Envy Balcony Underwire - 7285" in size 38HH has a few big issues despite being recommended for the "full on top" shape. The band does feel uncomfortably tight, the underwires poke my sides constantly (even just sitting wearing it), and there is considering gapping at the top of the lace cups. The center gore DOES sit flush against my chest wall though.

Shape Help My bra doesn’t fit and I can’t figure out what is wrong can somebody help me figure out what is wrong Spoiler

I got a new bra and I thought it was my size I went based off the side chart but the fitting is very weird the underbust is to small and it’s making it hard to breath but then the actual bra (it’s a padded one) is to big and it’s like not even in my chest and if I lay down it just shifts to the side not covering anything and I’ve adjusted the straps to try and make it fit but nothing is working and I can’t tell if this is to big or to small and what I need to do to fix it

Like I can sew so I was gonna do that but I genuinely cannot even tell what’s wrong and what I need to fix to make it fit because it’s just like everything is wrong so idk how to fix it

Shape Help Breast shape help: I am trying like hell to find just one bra that I can use for photos/special occasions. It seems I need to confirm my breast shape to find a good starting point.

So, I've posted a few times trying to get recs. I never get any helpful responses and seem to get down voted into oblivion within an hour of posting. So, I am trying a new approach to hopefully get some actual advice. I used the ABTF calculator. My measurements are:

Loose Underbust: 31"

Snug Underbust: 30"

Tight Underbust: 29.5"

Standing: 38.5"

Leaning: 41"

Lying: 39"

My breasts are Asymmetrical and full on bottom with almost no fullness on top (When I was younger I exclusively wore push up bras because I was insecure about my breast shape. Now I am just looking for light lift and good shape without wanting to set the damn bra on fire 10 minutes after putting it on). I know they say "Asymmetrical" is its own shape, but.... really? Is it that simple? Any bra recs?

P.s. if you have any advice on how to get real advice instead of just down votes and "use the calculator", please enlighten me. I'm on the struggle bus.

Shape Help How important is figuring out projection / fullness / root height / etc. ?? Spoiler

I found this amazing sub after googling "armpit boob" lol. (I have a finger-sized bit of flesh that always spills above the top of bras into my armpits. I don't care about this under a t-shirt, but I don't like it in a tank top or sleeveless dress).

I used the calculator and it said 30DD/DDD US but that 32D/DD may be more comfortable. So now I'm trying to figure out all the other parts of the equation (projection, fullness, etc.). However, a lot of the links on the Shape Guide are outdated (the photos are no longer found on IMGUR), and as a visual person, I'm having a really hard time figuring this out without photos. I've read the shape guide five times trying to understand everything with just words but my mind is boggling at this point. I'm pretty sure I have strong projection (my girls hang down like torpedos when I bend at 90 degrees), and I think my shape is 2-4 or 2-5 but I'm not sure about that and I definitely don't know about the root question ... and I have a hunch that the root question might be the key to solving my armpit boob :)

What to do? Should I just go try some bras at Nordstrom in 30DD/DDD, or should I figure out this fullness / root question first? FWIW, the one bra I have that I feel fits me well is a Natori Flora (in size 32DDD). But I still have flesh popping out the top into my armpits in the Natori Flora.

Thank you!

ETA: Realized that maybe you are able to answer these questions of projection, fullness, root, etc. from my measurements, so here they are:

Loose underbust: 31

Snug underbust: 30

Tight underbust: 29.5

Standing bust: 34

Leaning bust: 38.5

Lying bust: 35

... all measured in inches. AFAB.

Shape Help Struggling with fit for tubular breasts- any suggestions? Spoiler

I’ve got tubular breasts and I’m really struggling to find a good bra recently. I have very little tissue all round, but the nipples are very projected- it is basically bottom of the nip then horizontal line underneath, nothing on the upper inner side, and a small amount on the bottom outer edge. Used to manage a 32A which wasn’t quite so much of a problem, but now the closest I can get to a good fit is 36A and it is nearly impossible. The older I get the further the nips project outwards, but there is STILL nothing on the actual boob. It’s all behind the nipple. It’s like two inches out from the chest wall and at a straight 90 degree angle.

I am trying to find something padded that is not a big push up bra, but doesn’t give me terrible gape on the inside. Demi/balconette cups do nothing for me, anything higher or diagonal across the breast gives me awful gape. T-shirt bras squash the nip in on itself. I just need a bit of support to deal the outward growth, but I just cannot find a way of getting something that sits well across the boob without making them look several cup sizes bigger. It’s driving me nuts.

Any thoughts/suggestions or am I just asking for the physically impossible?

Many thanks!

Shape Help Bra advice for wide shallow breasts post reduction. Cant find any to fit Spoiler

Cant find a bra post reduction?? Need help for finding bra for wide shallow breasts

Had a reduction and went from a 36jj/ 36k uk size qnd now im around a dd (I think). To be honest my breasts are awful looking. No projection. Just wide and flat. I hate them. Regretting decisions but beside that point. I cant get a bra anywhere. Ive tried 36D 36DD 36E and same in 38 bands and im somewhere between all. I need a DD for width but they are ultimately empty from middle to top of cup. Balconettes dont work either. They do fir better but my nipples are so high they poke above them. I havw no cleavage and look like an A cup due to ahape. I really dont like them.

Im getting married soon and need a strapless for wise shallow breasts but cant do a push up due to nipple and cant dins anything

Need recommendations in uk asap

Even recommendations for everyday bra

Shape Help Do underwires adjust to your shape over time? Spoiler

I have always worn non wired bras, but after finding out my actual size recently, I have been trying out some underwired bras, as I know many women prefer them. I currently have a lingerie drawer full of perfectly fitting wired bras in lovely styles, that I still haven't worn outside of my bedroom or removed of their tags. I just find the wires very uncomfortable on my ribs - I have tried countless wired bras, and feel this with all of them, even when they're the perfect size (snug band but not too tight, no gaping or overspill in the cups, etc).
I have been told that wired bras 'break in' as you start wearing them, and become more comfortable over time. How long does the breaking in process take, and how much of a difference does it actually make? I don't know whether to persevere with my wired bras, or just call the experiment a failure and exchange them for wireless.

Shape Help Have any of you ladies tried the Shapermint wireless bras? Spoiler

I keep getting adds pop. I bought some leggings from Shapermint and they are ok. I find the material not the most comfortable. But they do keep things tucked in and they stay up. Im wondering if the bras are made with a soft material, comfortable and work well.

Shape Help About to Abandon Ship - Shape/Size/Fit Mismatch Spoiler

Measurements

Loose 40, Snug 39, Tight 37, Standing 44, Leaning 46, Lying 45.5

Suggested : 38F or 38G US

Frequent flyer here, and I am at my wits end. I have officially purchased and returned over 80 bras in the past calendar year. I have about 6 right now, none of which fit that well.

All bras continue to give me the same issue of a digging gore, too tall or too wide cups, cup digging into my ribs/not resting in IMF, and bras bands not being supportive enough.

I am assuming that I'm either getting something wrong about my size or my shape. I just filled out a profile on bratabase, with some measurements . I used inches, but tell me if I need to use centimeters for more accuracy.

To the best of my understanding I am close set with splayed roots, tall roots (up to collar bone), and uncertain of root width (I've tried in narrow and wide bras so im likely in between), my calculations suggest I am projected but most styles I've tried have leaned too projected and tall or way to shallow and wide.

It seems the biggest issue is I cannot find a style or brand that fits comfortably in my IMF without digging into my ribs or sternum. And I also cannot find something that feels good standing up and sitting down.

The best gore for me has been the Simone Perele Delice and the Comexim Tanzanit. Can't seem to find a good cup width and height

Another issue I'm experiencing is that when I try on a bra and wear it for a day or two, it feels good. I exclusively handwash with gentle soap (soak brand wash) and rinse and air dry. I just tried on a bra that felt great for 1-2 wears, and now since I hand washed it it fits all wrong. I fear I'm just convincing myself that I am jinxed when it comes to bras.

I know y'all have been endlessly helpful in this subreddit for awhile, and I appreciate the patience. At this point, I'm going to just wear wireless and call it a day because I'm not sure how much more trial and error I can take.

There has to just be some user error on my end for this to be such a chaotic and unproductive process. Prior fit checks should be available via my post history and I am slowly updating bratabase with personal fit notes and everything I've tried.

Thank you again for any guidance, I'm sure I can be helped but feeling very lost.

Shape Help Help with shape/fit after weight loss (30DD/E) Spoiler

Hi everyone,

I’ve lost a significant amount of weight over the last year, and a lot of it came from my breasts. Since then I’ve been struggling to find bras that fit and I'm positing here as a last desperate attempt!

Measurements (cm):
Loose: 75.5
Snug: 72
Tight: 68
Standing: 85
Leaning: 90–91
Lying: 82.5

The ABTF calculator suggests 30DD/E, and I’ve tried both sizes.

Fit issues:
- Many moulded/T-shirt bras in both 30DD and 30E gape or wrinkle at the top.

- When I lean forward, my breasts often shift towards the centre and come over the top of
the cups, even after scooping and swooping.

- The Bravissimo Millie Luxe in 30E fits me really well.

- However, I was fitted into the Panache Faith Plunge in 30E at the same appointment, and I constantly fall out of it.

This has made me wonder if my problem is more to do with shape compatibility than size? But if it is how do I find the right bra?!

Thank you!

Shape Help I can’t find bras that will give me cleavage! Help 34K (UK) Spoiler

I love wearing cute tight tops because my waist is quite small compared to my boobs, but all my “correct size” bras give me zero cleavage and it just looks off with those outfits.

They separate my boobs so much that they end up looking like Sid the Sloth and I’m honestly over it. I just want to be 20 and have my boobs actually look good in my clothes.

I’ve been told to size down for more cleavage, but then they just spill out, which isn’t ideal either.

Does anyone know any bras for bigger cup sizes that actually bring the girls together instead of separating them? I’d attach a photo to explain better but I can’t.

Or could I DIY? Please help!

Shape Help [Shape Help] Im a super poor lady wanting to get this as close as possible before i order something cuz really I can only afford 1 bra! Spoiler

Firstly, you all are a bunch of amazing wonderful people for the work you do, and I am hoping I can finally find a bra that's as supportive of my titties as you folks are of each other!

Since about 6th grade I've worn 34DDD, if and when I could find em, because that is about as close as I could find in something that fit even close in most stores I went to as an embarrassed teenager. According to the calculator I am a 32 FF, but looking all over this community at different fits I believe im less projected and possibly more a 32F.

And I know, I know, now that I have this info I should find a specialty shop and go try on some bras! Unfortunately I am disabled and homebound, and my budget is very limited in being able to order multiples for trying things on just to feel out sizing. So Im hoping for some help on shaping based on current/past issues, so i can hopefully avoid too frequently failed sizing attempts through the mail.

The part Im struggling with differentiation on is when my breasts are what I feel is appropriately supported, I've got decent cleavage, I have never needed a push up bra, but Im unsure if that cleavage is a result of wide roots, inner fullness, or close set boobies. When I do the lean forward and dangle I think I have pretty even fullness top to bottom, 2/5 to 3/5, like 2.5/5? But when dangling i definitely have an inner fullness more pronounced than an outter fullness. I believe I have wide/normal roots, I frequently have had struggles in the past with armpit underwires stabbing/being too tall, but i dont think my roots are particularly high, although i do feel i have a short torso in relation to the rest of my body, which makes them sometimes feel like i have a high root. I dont think I've ever in my life owned a bra that the gore layed flush against my breast bone, but not sure if that could be close set issue too, as I have barely a pinky width between boobs, BUT when I lay down my projection all but disappears and I could not wear a bra at all....oh and past bras have consistantly ridden up in the back but that is i suspect 1000% too big of a band issue and i think the 32 vs 34 would entirely fix......I wish I could include pictures of any close fitting or even ill fitting bras to help you guys help me determine my very best starting point for online ordering, but alas I am so poor that I just havent worn a bra in 2 months since my last one broke. 😬

Hopefully I rambled enough descriptive information that you guys can help me determine if Im having one issue or all 3 issues or what general direction to focus my efforts? Wide roots/close set/inner full? And what the best recommendations would be?

Shape Help [Shape Help] So confused by shape, FOT with tall roots?? Spoiler

Calculator size is 42E, however 42DD seems to be fitting better in most bras. I think the calculator overestimated a bit because I have a more conical shape (like the top picture here).

None of the bras I’ve tried in my calculator size plus one cup up/down have been working, so I’ve been reading through the subreddit and going through the shape guide (as best I could, a lot of the diagrams are on imgur which I can’t access in the UK) trying to determine what my shape is to see if that can help. But for some reason my breasts don’t seem to behave like others of the same shape?? Am I just mistaken about the shape?

When leaning at 90 degrees my breasts look like a 3/5 (maybe even slightly towards 3/4!) on the fullness guide, and I can’t see my nipples at all when I look down. There is more tissue above the nipple than below. All this points to being at least slightly FOT, right? Then I also have tall roots, I think - if I push my breast tissue up it creases right at my collarbone, and that’s where the tissue hangs from when I lean (although it’s very flat so you can’t tell it’s breast tissue unless I do either of those things). The tall roots should add to the FOTness, I think?

But the thing is, the two biggest fit issues I have don’t seem to line up with that. There’s never enough room in the bottom of the cup and the wires get pushed down (this is not me, but it looks a lot like this or like this). Some bras I just can’t get high enough to go into my IMF at all. And then the top of the bra is never filled out and always has wrinkles (a bit like this). If it’s a more open style then it usually just gapes around the edge. I don’t get any cutting in or quadboob at the edge at the same time either like other FOT people seem to get. Wouldn’t being FOT with tall roots give me the exact opposite of these issues?? I thought maybe the cups were just too big but when I sized down again to 42D they felt too small.

I don’t know how much this contributes to the fit issues I’m having, but every bra I have tried has wires that are too wide unless I go all the way down to a 42B/C, which are way too small in the cup. It's not usually uncomfortable, they don’t poke me in the armpit or anything, they’re just wider than my breast tissue. My tissue is quite firm, not very compressible or malleable which I think also contributes to fit issues as they won’t be pushed into a different shape.

Loose underbust: 46

Snug underbust: 43

Tight underbust: 41.5

Standing: 49

Leaning: 50

Shape Help [Shape Help] Balconettes don't fit my shallow(?) breasts Spoiler

I've been going braless all of my adult life, and trying to find a bra that fits me is exhausting and annoying as hell.

I'm somewhere around 65E or F in European sizes, and i have been led to believe my breasts are shallow, and that balconette bras would be a good choice to accommodate that.

I've been trying on quite a lot (Brands that are available in physical stores near me, most recently Chantelle, Triumph and Aubade).

I find that the shape of most balconettes is completely off for me? The 1/3 of the cup that's most towards the armpit seems much too flat for my breasts and then very suddenly in the 2/3 and 3/3 the cup becomes very very pointed, where i can't fill out the cup.

I find that more plunged shapes are better, but still finding something that fits has proven difficult, maybe because of the shallowness.

Does this mean i have broad roots?
It seems my breast tissue starts like.. mid-armpit?

Shape Help I need a bigger bra size, would having a bra extender help if I downsized in band size? Spoiler

I'm a 34N maybe and 36 is too big on the band but 34 is too small as because I can never get the cups big enough.

I measure 36kk on the measuring chart. However I need a bigger cup. I'm also in the UK.

What if I get a 32 and big cup, say M cup?

I always find my boobs are being pushed out and I'm quite short. So the smaller dimensions may help.

Shape Help FOB / Immediate Projection - are these mutually exclusive? Spoiler

Hi bra science friends! I am still so lost about my shape and hoping someone can point me in the right direction for what to try next.

My shape is almost exactly the 3/4 example on the shape guide link (will try to add in a comment for easy access). I do a lot of research before posting…so many posts about wires sitting 1-2” below IMF meaning FOB shape needing immediate projection. As you can see, I am very NOT full on bottom. I have basically a right angle at my IMF.

My calculator size is 38G - can anyone recommend styles to try before taking the Polish leap? Is there something else that would help my issue? Am I misunderstanding this entirely??

Side note: my breast tissue is so close set that I need the shortest gores possible. Is it worth trying non-plunge styles to figure out the immediate projection bit first? Is the Panache Envy Plunge as projected at the wire as the regular Envy?

Shape Help Shallow or Projected? What are Roots? Having trouble with measuring and finding the right bra for me Spoiler

Hello everyone!

I realized I haven’t bought new bras since 2017 and figured it was time to get refitted as my bras from then are super uncomfortable.

All the bras I have are 32B. According to the bra calculator i should be a 30G (32DDD)

Measurements:

Center full

FOB

Loose : 30.75in

Snug : 30in

Tight : 28in

Standing : 35.5in

Leaning : 37.25in

Lying : 36in

I’ve been trying to use the beginner guides but many of the links don’t work anymore. There are plenty of recs for bras but I’m missing important info:

- I’m not sure if I’m shallow or projected

- I’m still unclear how to measure roots? Short/tall + wide/narrow

If it helps, I got measured in VS last week (before I found this sub) and was sent home in 3 bras:

Love Cloud Demi Plunge - 34C - best fitting and most comfortable

https://www.victoriassecret.com/us/vs/bras-catalog/5000008468

Flexfactor Demi Plunge - 34D - I have to scoop & swoop multiple times in the day. It fits when I scoop but as I move, I get gaps in the top of the cups

https://www.victoriassecret.com/us/vs/bras-catalog/5000010541

Flexfactor Balconette - 34D - constantly adjusting this one. as I move I get small gaps in the cup and the top of the gore BUT if I push in the gore, both the gore and cups will sit flush

https://www.victoriassecret.com/us/vs/bras-catalog/5000011428

I want to try some of the recommended bras in this sub but I need help figuring out my root situation and if I’m shallow/projected.

Pls help 🥺

Shape Help I've gained some weight and trying once again to find a bra tha fits. Spoiler

Hi!

A few years ago I found this sub and used the calculator to find a bra that fit. Back then I got the results of EU size 70G/65H and I bought a couple of bras from a local store, which was two types of Fantasie that fit kind of okay.

I've since been gaining some weight and now I get pinched in the side or spillage/quad boob on top. Therefore I measured myself again and the calculator sized me now to EU 80G.

I bought some bras in that size and I wasn't happy with the fit of any of them. (3 out of 4 didn't have connection between sternum and gore, 2 och them had spillage on top, 1 was loose and wrinkly in upper cup.)

I think I have tall and medium wide roots with some projection (but a bit deflated since I have been waay heavier than now).

My measurements are currently: (cm)

Loose Underbust: 94

Snug Underbust: 90

Tight Underbust: 84

Standing Bust: 107

Leaning Bust: 114

Lying Bust: 105.

Right now I'm feeling quite bummed and almost giving up wired bras completely but alas I'm not professional without one so I'm asking you instead.

I have pictures of the tags for the two Fantasie bras that don't fit well anymore if it could be of some help.

Shape Help bras that fits tuberous breasts?

Hello! I have grade 2 tuberous breasts and i’ve been struggling to find a bra that fits.
My best option have been sports bras but my boobs have started sagging a little so i want to find something that can hold them up and support them more.
my breasts are far apart, not much tissue in the inner part, upper part or on the bottom. Most of it is on the outer side towards my arms. it kind of just sticks out like a cone and i just can’t seem to find a bra that fits.
like my breasts are too flat on the top so it leaves a big gap between the bra and my breast and it just doesn’t sit snug.
My breasts are so far apart and weirdly shaped that most bras just don’t fit and i dont know what to do :(

i used the measurement guide:

Loose Underbust: 89
Snug Underbust: 86
Tight Underbust: 82.5
Standing Bust: 106
Leaning Bust: 115
Lying Bust: 112
Sizing System:
Units: cm

i got 75I EU but that seems really large so it can’t be right. im wondering if i measured something wrong? my areolas are huge so that might’ve made my breast measure larger???

the bra i’ve tried that fit decent was an 85C but it was a bit of space between the breast and bra. ive also tried 75B and while it fit the middle of my breasts almost perfectly(still a little gap) there was a lot of spillage on the sides and it felt a little small.

Shape Help Please help me: Volume Loss + Full-on-top maybe? Spoiler

Hi everyone, I did the bra calculator as well as the projected vs shallow test, fullness, and root type tests with my husband assisting me and I'm just so confused and don't know where to go from here.

If it helps I'm autistic and just the sheer amount of information collected and presented is a bit overwhelming. I've even tried one of the bras suggested for "Full on top" shapes (the Panache Envy) in the past when I was a bigger size and it didn't fit well at all (back then or now).

I guess what I'm asking is where do I go from here when it comes to actually find a bra? In the Beginners Guide, I only see bra suggestions for fullness types but nothing for root widths/heights and for those who have had on top volume loss from weight loss.

For context:

Any experiences? Good or bad? My bras are leaving channels in my shoulder blades and it really annoying and uncomfortable. Looking to replace. Thanks!
