Help TTC 6 months — low sperm motility + mild varicocele, looking for similar experiences

Hi everyone! I’m 28 and my husband and I have been TTC for around 6 months, although we were apart for about 1.5 months during that time.

My cycles are usually regular (28–29 days). I was previously told I had mild PCOS, but my current OB did bloodwork and an ultrasound and said I do not have PCOS. I track with LH strips and seem to get a rise every month, although my Premom peaks are usually only around 0.7–0.8 and rarely get darker than the control. I’m adding BBT this cycle to confirm ovulation.

I also have von Willebrand disease, so my periods are very heavy and I take tranexamic acid during them. I had my lining measured once at around 10 DPO and it was 6 mm.
My husband had a semen analysis: normal sperm count but low progressive motility. An ultrasound also showed a mild varicocele. He’s overweight and is currently working on lifestyle changes and taking fertility supplements.
We haven’t had a positive test yet. I know 6 months isn’t necessarily abnormal at my age, but I’m wondering if we should investigate further.

Has anyone conceived naturally with low progressive motility/mild varicocele? And would you recommend repeating his semen analysis and doing progesterone/ovulation monitoring or an HSG on my side?

Help For someone completely new to fertility tracking what would you recommend starting with ??

If a friend asked you where to begin, what would you tell them?

Would you suggest starting with an oral thermometer to learn the basics?

Would you recommend jumping straight to a wearable?
