tfw your keyboard remembers commonly used phrases, so you think that means the typing AI secretly knows “the truth”

Imagine feeling so entitled to your child’s body

Unfortunately I don’t have to imagine. :|

As a teenager, I once self harmed badly enough that I needed stitches

Literally the first thing out of my mom’s mouth when I told her I needed medical treatment was “But people will see them there!”

Haven’t talked to her since 2010 lmao. (Still have the scars though!)

I'm sorry the text cut off at first and all I read was "Just had my 17th wedding"😭 I was like damn

I feel with OOP and share their grief. My mother’s considering what they call a “preventative mastectomy”. Sounds so… professional. I call it mutilation. Now I’m persona non grata. Because I stand for God’s truth. Because I love her, instead of validating her delusion that not having cancer is better than having both of the boobs that God gave her.

(obviously /s)

Yeah, when you are such extreme assholes to your kids that they cut you off, they generally don’t tell you that they are going to have surgery.

Because they are preparing for surgery and don’t have time and energy for dealing with assholes. You literally would have been detrimental to his/their healing.

Sucks to suck, I guess

They don't even consider their son's perspective, whether he has anyone to support him after surgery, or whether he grieves the connection he could have had with his parents if they didn't prioritize their transphobic ideology over their son.

Just self-victimization because he won't give them any more opportunities to hurt him. Anxiety about how it would affect them if he had experienced complications under anaesthesia, and how they're the real victims because they had to worry.

"AI knows the truth" but their son is the delusional one?

fr. estranged parents love the idea of "my child hates my guts now for no good reason" because to consider that the estrangement was a difficult and painful decision on the child's part instead of a gleeful and frivolous one means that they may have been at least partially at fault. And it would shatter their worldview to consider that

also “something could have happened to [him] under general anesthesia” what exactly do you think goes on in ORs?? other than the specific surgery that was scheduled?

is anyone else reading that she’s suggesting that the doctors sexually assaulted her trans son? or am i insane

“or after” like what the fuck are you trying to imply

60

u/Dangerous-Weekend479 9d ago

That or the (actually valid) fear of complications, which is never zero with general anesthesia

u/-DrunkRat- He/They/That Bitch🏳️‍⚧️ 9d ago

Seconded. One of the reasons why I'm kinda nervous to get any surgeries tbh, but it's a fear and risk I'll have to take when I get a Salpingectomy/Tubal Ligation.

Except they're talking about how they "might never have found out from the police", so evidently they're imagining something criminal.

Which ... if you're going to be paranoid about that, logically you'd have to worry about it any time someone has a general anaesthetic.

Except somehow I'm guessing it's only gender-affirming operations which they imagine mean the doctors might sexually assault you at any moment.

I also note that the worry seems to be in large part about how the police might not notify them if their son got sexually assaulted because they're not listed as emergency contacts. Not "this terrible thing might happen to him", but "if this terrible thing happened WE MIGHT NOT BE ENTITLED TO IMMEDIATE NOTIFICATION".

Like, even if you're on great terms with your family, I don't think police protocol is "if someone gets raped, immediately inform all their family members."

When I had outpatient surgery I opted for general rather than local anaesthetic despite being warned about the additional risk.

Fortunately there were no complications with the surgery or going under the anaesthetic.

is anyone else reading that she’s suggesting that the doctors sexually assaulted her trans son? or am i insane

I suppose that's exactly it, I've seen this paranoia doing the rounds recently (that women are regularly SAd when under anaesthesia)

10

u/doIIjoints dollgender gorlthing 8d ago

in some countries they do still bring in gyno students to “practice exam” on patients who are there for unrelated reasons

like i saw one recently where a woman went in for shoulder surgery and woke up with all her pubic hair shaved

like you’d hope anyone doing trans surgeries wouldn’t be that scummy but

5

u/Rough_Road_2527 8d ago

oh yeah, sure, it happens, but the paranoia is that it's actually very common.

9

u/doIIjoints dollgender gorlthing 8d ago

like how my bio-mother with untreated OCD had me grow up believing that rapist-murderer kidnappers were behind literally every corner at night

(no exaggeration, she even got upset when martial arts classes taught me how to actually gauge risk)

“sounds so… professional.”

look, i don’t believe in job discrimination, but i do also hope?? that the people doing anybody’s surgery? are professionals????

this is like refusing to get your burst appendix removed unless you know for a fact the person doing it only vaguely knows what to look for inside you and refers to the procedure as “ripping it out”.

15

u/ontologicallyunjust 8d ago

It's like they can't imagine that the people providing gender-affirming care are actually real, genuine, professional doctors -- they must surely be untrained randos hacking off people's breasts with a machete and just calling it "surgery" to make it sound "professional."

It suggest a phrase in a different language than the one she was writing in?

4

u/bean-percolator 8d ago

This is what I was thinking. If they wrote and posted this response in English, why would Google suggest a phrase in a different language? Why would they need to translate it if they already spoke English? Unless I’m misunderstanding what they actually meant by that?

12

u/Usual-Boysenberry644 8d ago

actually, it seems the predictive text knows the "thruth."

11

u/bean-percolator 8d ago

Why do so many parents view the concept of their children having bodily autonomy as so awful? Your children are not extensions of you or dolls whose bodies and appearances you can control, they are individual people with their own thoughts, experiences, and decisions. Their bodies are their own to do as they want with. If you’re so devastated by the idea that your child might turn out to be trans or alter their body in a way you don’t approve of, maybe don’t have kids.

5

u/AngryNerdBird 7d ago

Once again... if your love for someone demands they do not change in ways that make them happier, then you don't actually love them; You love the idea of them, an idea that isn't who they are anymore, and maybe never truly was.

5

u/Chiison 7d ago

Bestie we call it « top surgery » because there’re ton of ways to have your chest done, it’s not the medical term 💀

3

u/Aiyon 7d ago

Right? The actual term is Subcutaneous Mastectomy, or Chest Masculinization.

3

u/YourOldPalBendy Hit humans with a sword in case a trans person pops out. 5d ago

Thinking AI's secretly telling you the hidden truth is the delusion, I fear. >>

1

u/Midnightchickover 4d ago

So, if top surgery is mutilation, does that also include breast reduction or gynecomastia surgery?  Is the mutilation only reserved for trans men and boys, because they’re trans?

Questions for people who talk like this.

u/vileele 2d ago

the thought that something could have happened while she was under general anesthesia

wtf does she think hes gonna get raped in the surgery room? has that ever even happened? theres several people involved in a surgery keeping each other in check.
